Chapter 976: What He Can Give You, I Can Too
Why would Kimberly lie to Aurora?
Why would Kimberly lie to Aurora?
Aurora's mind was in turmoil. On one hand, she doubted the veracity of Kimberly's claims, yet on another, a part of her felt that there was truth in Kimberly's words.
"Aurora, if you don't believe me, you can verify it yourself. That night, Anthony wasn't in Southvale. He secretly went to Paykston to meet Jane. Who else but my son Hubert could have been with you?" Kimberly challenged.
"Impossible, impossible, impossible," Aurora muttered over and over again as she shook her head vehemently.
However, the memories of that night, more than seven months ago, became increasingly clear in Aurora's mind. She distinctly remembered the man having a black mole on his neck, and Anthony did not have such a mole!
At this time, Hubert burst through the door and asked, "Mom, what did you say to her?"
Hubert had learned that Kimberly had visited the hospital and, filled with a sense of foreboding, he had hurried over. He had instructed the servants to stay behind as he entered. Upon arrival, he found Aurora clutching her pregnant belly and weeping uncontrollably as she muttered repeatedly, "Impossible, impossible…"
Upon hearing Hubert's voice, Aurora looked up in horror, only to be confronted by Hubert's face. His face, which was considered handsome, repulsed her.
Her eyes widened in fear as she stared at the black mole on Hubert's neck—the very same mole she recalled from her fragmented memory. It matched perfectly!
"Hubert, I accidentally let it slip. She already knows," Kimberly said apologetically, clearly afraid of ruining Hubert's plan.
Hubert stared at Aurora icily as he said, "So what if she knows? She was bound to find out sooner or later."
"Hubert, you..." Aurora struggled with the implications of his words.
'The child is Hubert's…'
"Did you two conspire to deceive me? You..."
"I wouldn't waste my time deceiving you," Hubert interjected impatiently, "Even pregnant, you manage to find trouble. You’re in the hospital so frequently. You're utterly useless!"
Hubert was annoyed by Aurora's tears. He continued to say, "You have two round scars on your left rib, right?"
Aurora shuddered, instinctively covering her left rib. The scars from chickenpox in her childhood were indeed there.
‘How could it be Hubert?’
"Aurora, I asked for your cooperation before, and you refused. Are you willing now?"
Hubert sneered. His gaze was devoid of any warmth for the mother of his future child. Clearly, he regarded her as nothing more than a pawn and a plaything.
He continued to say condescendingly, "Aurora, I'll give you a day to think it over. If you work for me and please me, I can give you the position of Mrs. Clark. Whatever Anthony can give you, I can match."
After Kimberly and Hubert departed, the servants cautiously re-entered. They were alarmed by Aurora's tear-streaked and pallid face.
"Get out! All of you, get out!" Aurora hurled a pillow at the servants.
The servants, interpreting her outburst as a sign of emotional turmoil—a common occurrence—did not dare to disobey and hastily left the room.
After a moment, the door opened from the inside.
Aurora, with her pregnant belly prominent and her feet bare against the cold floor, said to the servants firmly, "I want an abortion. Arrange it immediately!"
Aurora was determined not to give birth to Hubert's child.
'If this child is born, it'll be over for Anthony and me!'
