Chapter 287 Little Brother, Save Me!
While Jane was occupied with editing the photographs, Jacob could not stay idle and began to play games.
Jacob’s skills were terrible.
“Do you want to play?” Jacob asked, interpreting Natalie’s peculiar glance as interest.
After a brief moment of hesitation, Natalie replied, “Okay.”
Despite Jacob’s gaming abilities being as lacking as his skills in makeup, Natalie found the experience oddly amusing. Moreover, she did not have to care about their ranks in the game. She wanted to distract herself from thoughts about Oliver and Susan.
“I’m in a good mood, so I’ll carry you to victory!” Jacob declared with confidence, gesturing with his hand.
Fifteen minutes into the game, Jacob was eliminated, but Natalie had come to his rescue on three occasions during that time.
Ten minutes after that, Natalie dominated the game; she single-handedly took down eleven opponents.
“Are you some kind of demon?” Jacob asked in astonishment. “You’re almost as good as Jane. Did she teach you?”
When Jane was immersed in her work, she would instinctively ignore her surroundings, so she did not respond.
Natalie shook her head and explained, “My younger brother was the one who taught me.” She paused before adding, “In fact, I wanted to ask you something earlier. How did you manage to reach Platinum with that terrible skill?”
“If we weren’t playing games, I wouldn’t want to talk to you at all! Is it too much to expect civil words from you?” Jacob retorted with a scowl.
Suddenly, a staff member called out, “Natalie, you have a visitor!”
When Jane was immersed in her work, she would instinctively ignore her surroundings, so she did not respond.
Natalie shook her head and explained, “My younger brother was the one who taught me.” She paused before adding, “In fact, I wanted to ask you something earlier. How did you manage to reach Platinum with that terrible skill?”
“If we weren’t playing games, I wouldn’t want to talk to you at all! Is it too much to expect civil words from you?” Jacob retorted with a scowl.
Suddenly, a staff member called out, “Natalie, you have a visitor!”
The other teams, having just completed their photoshoot, turned their attention toward the source of the interruption.
A tall, slender boy with a buzz cut, exuding a relaxed yet confident demeanor that hinted at his affluent background, appeared.
Several girls in the vicinity cast admiring glances his way, with some even mustering the courage to ask for his number. Alas, they were only met with rejection.
“Lucas!” Natalie greeted him with a warm smile and, after receiving approval from the director, ushered Lucas into the venue.
“Natalie, who’s this handsome young man?” the director, visibly impressed.
“This is my younger brother, but he has no interest in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry,” Natalie quickly clarified, anticipating the director’s thoughts.
The director’s expression fell, disappointed. With Lucas’s looks and charisma, Lucas would undoubtedly have made a splash in the industry.
The crowd was taken aback.
“That’s Natalie’s younger brother?”
“I had heard about Natalie having a handsome younger brother... He truly is handsome!”
“Doesn’t he attend our school?”
“Which university is he in?”
There were several universities in close proximity.
“Paykston University.”
“He’s a top student!!”
“Are you alright?” Lucas asked worriedly.
Natalie knew what Lucas was referring to, and she reassured, “Don’t worry. I’m fine.”
She composed herself, preparing for the upcoming scene.
To the onlookers, everything appeared impeccable, with any vulnerability carefully concealed.
“Natalie, I’m no longer a child,” Lucas protested, disliking his sister’s tendency to shoulder burdens alone.
Natalie raised an eyebrow. “Have you grown up? Do you have a girlfriend? If not, you’re still a kid. Don’t worry. I can handle my own affairs.”
“I’m only sixteen! I’ll have you know that many girls are chasing after me! There are so many of them that they could form a line from here to Sense University!”
In an attempt to distract Lucas, Natalie said to Jacob, “Let me introduce my brother to you!”
She wanted to stop Lucas from asking about Oliver.
For the ensuing half-hour, Jacob’s commentary consisted of ‘Sh*t!’ to ‘Save me, Lucas!’
Jacob was impressed by Natalie's ability to eliminate eleven opponents effortlessly in PUBG, but Lucas’ ability impressed him even more. Lucas seemed to possess an almost supernatural talent.
‘Is he a demon?’
What added to Jacob's frustration was during the final moment, Lucas said to him, “Do you see that house in the southeast? Hide there and don’t come out!”
In another instance, the opponents hid too well, so Lucas could not find them. As such, he said to Jacob, “Come out and shoot.”
Jacob followed Lucas’ instruction and went to fire shots. It did not take long for him to be eliminated by the opponent.
Following the trail of fire, Lucas eliminated the opponents after using Jacob as a decoy.
The victory of the game came at the cost of Jacob’s ‘life’.
The scene was so amusing that it had the crew members who were watching burst into laughter.
With not much material to edit from the photoshoot, the director decided to film their gaming antics on film, later editing and uploading the footage online.
The video quickly went viral, filled with comments ridiculing Jacob's gaming skills and praising the unknown but highly skilled player next to him.
