Chapter 959: Mediocre Skills

"You went on a date with Anthony last night," Aurora said, struggling to get the words out.

Jane waited for a while and then heard the word "date".

‘Aurora is about to become a mother. How could she not understand? Why is she being so coy? Even someone as prim and proper as Natalie won’t talk like that,’ Jane pondered.

Sometimes, being too reserved was just pretentious because it wasn’t the feudal era anymore.

"Are you trying to ask if Anthony and I had sex?" Jane clarified bluntly.

Aurora looked like she had heard something extremely offensive, "Jane, you admit it! After all, you meet Anthony dressed like that in the middle of the night. You can't deny it."

Jane sat down on a nearby stone bench and rested her chin in her hand, finding it all quite amusing.

"Aurora, first of all, I can dress however I want. Is a silk camisole so scandalous? Are you from the feudal era? Secondly, I didn't want to meet Anthony. If you don't believe me, there's nothing I can do. If you're not comfortable with me staying here, the easiest solution is to talk to Ann. Don't threaten me with my brother and let me leave. Thirdly, I'm not interested in having sex with Anthony. It's not like I haven't slept with him before. I'm not that hung up on it." Jane listed her explanations.

"Jane, don't you feel any guilt or shame?" Aurora shouted, "Are you trying to tell me that I'm overly suspicious and slandering you, or that Anthony is clinging to you while you're completely innocent?"

Jane replied honestly, "Both."

A breeze blew through the small garden, carrying the chill of early winter.

In the silence, Aurora finally dropped her facade of kindness, glaring at Jane with tears.

Jane felt bad too.

Her opponent was a pregnant woman, making Jane feel that she was the villain.

Finally, Aurora's tears flowed, and she started crying uncontrollably.

Holding her pregnant belly, Aurora sobbed. "Jane, I just want a chance to give my child a complete family. Is that too much to ask?"

If Jane weren't involved, she might have thought she had done something terrible to Aurora.

‘But what have I done wrong?’ Jane thought.

Jane looked at Aurora indifferently. "Aurora, am I the one not giving you a chance? You're crying to me, but in this whole situation, what did I do wrong?"

Aurora stared at Jane in shock, clearly not expecting her to be so self-righteous.

Jane found it amusing and laughed out loud. "Is my mistake being Anthony’s ex-girlfriend and having a past with him that I traded for my brother's health? Is it my mistake appearing at the Clark family? Do I care about being at the Clark family? Is my mistake that Anthony still has feelings for me or has other motives? Please! Mrs. Clark, if you can't control your man, don't blame me for being too attractive."

Probably only Jane could say something so shameless in the entire socialite circle.

"Jane, how dare you..." Aurora was either too angry or had nothing else to say, so she just glared at Jane, crying.

All the other servants had been dismissed by Aurora, leaving only Aurora and Jane in the rooftop garden.

"Aurora, you're about to be a mother. I advise you to consider your health and think more about your child. When Natalie had issues during her pregnancy, she always tried to resolve them with the calmest mindset. Having a peaceful mind is both good for you and your child," Jane advised.

Jane sighed, thinking, ‘I’m really a good person, sincerely advising Aurora even at this moment.’

Well, Jane just didn't want Aurora's child to suffer any harm related to her.

Jane was lost in thoughts, ‘After all, her child is innocent. Every new life deserves to come into this world in the best way possible.’

Aurora gritted her teeth, staring at Jane.

Jane's advice was all correct and reasonable, but to Aurora, it felt like mockery. Aurora knew she had psychological issues, but in her situation, no woman could remain kind.

‘Jane isn’t wrong. Does that mean I and my unborn baby are wrong? How could Jane not be wrong? Her mistake is not staying away from Anthony, not keeping her distance from my fiancé!’ Aurora pondered.

"Aurora, if you're a good mother, you shouldn't provoke me at this time." Seeing that Aurora had nothing else to say, Jane left the small garden.

As she walked out, she saw Anthony standing on the other side of the door. His coat was fluttering in the autumn wind. It seemed he had been standing there for a long time.

"Jane." Anthony didn't look good. He stared at Jane and asked, "I'm mediocre in sex?"
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
