Chapter 246 I Believe He Didn't Kill
"Alright, thank you. I'll give you a bonus later," Natalie said to Sophia as they got into a taxi, instructing the driver, "To the Harrington villa."
Natalie finally had time to look at her phone, which was filled with missed calls from Lilian.
At first, Natalie had no intention of answering, but after some consideration, she decided to call Lilian back.
After all, Lilian was Oliver's cousin and genuinely cared about him.
"Hello,” Natalie greeted.
As soon as the call connected, she heard Lilian's anxious roar. "Natalie, what happened to my brother? What on earth happened? I refuse to believe my brother would kill someone, and even if he did, he wouldn't use such a foolish method and get caught!"
Natalie's heart tightened. She didn't believe it either, but Oliver didn't explain anything. All the evidence pointed to him, and she couldn't do anything about it.
"Natalie, you have to figure something out, please! Natalie, my brother didn't kill anyone, right?" Lilian sobbed.
Natalie couldn't help but think of Oliver. When Mrs. Norton passed away, did a younger Oliver wonder on how he would survive without her?
She didn't even know how to handle it herself, yet she had to comfort others first.
"Lilian, don't worry for now. I believe Oliver didn't kill Victoria. I will find a way, I will find a way..." Natalie muttered to herself, comforting both Victoria and her.
Natalie took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. "Lilian, your identity is sensitive. Remember not to expose yourself, don't act impulsively. There is no one to protect you now. If you are discovered or caught, it will only become a threat to Oliver, understand?"
"Okay, I understand," Lilian nodded tearfully. She knew she couldn't be of any help here. Being unfamiliar with this place, she could only cause trouble and not contribute anything useful.
"Natalie, would you betray us?" Lilian asked, worried. "If the Windsor family tries to pressure or lure you, would you betray us and help the Windsor family?"
Natalie laughed, "If the Windsor family's pressure and temptation were effective, would I still be here comforting you? If it worked, as Oliver's confidante, won't I be the ironclad evidence that crushes him? Do you think I would still be talking to you?"
After ending the call with Lilian, Natalie immediately tried to contact Jamie and Charles. Unfortunately, their phones were out of reach.
As Oliver's right-hand men, Jamie and Charles were fully committed to assisting him. Calls from journalists and various business partners kept pouring in, but the two had already set their phones to only accept calls from Oliver.
The Harrington family villa was draped in white fabric. The somber and desolate funeral arrangement was right before them.
Only a handful of people attended Victoria's funeral, and the few families who came left after offering their condolences and flowers.
Noah flew back from abroad and cried at Victoria's portrait his eyes were swollen.
"Natalie, you have the nerve to come!" As soon as Natalie stepped through the gates of the Harrington family mansion, Noah spotted her and rushed over, punching Natalie in anger. "Your man killed my mother, I want you to pay! Natalie, I want you to pay!"
"Adrian, Adrian!" Lyra, who was sitting on the side, quickly called out to Adrian. "Miss, calm down!"
Lyra, who was pregnant, shouldn't have attended the funeral for health reasons. However, with the low number of mourners from the Harrington family, having one more person would add to their status.
Furthermore, she didn't have any emotional attachment to Victoria, so there was no risk of emotional instability due to being pregnant. Most importantly, she wanted to assert her presence.
How was Emily doing? She was still connected to the Harrington family, after all.
Noah stepped forward, wanting to slap Natalie and grab her hair, but before she could reach her, Sophia pushed her away.
Noah stumbled back and almost fell to the ground.
"Miss, do you want to fight in front of your mother's memorial?" Sophia scolded.
"Noah, stop!" Adrian pulled his sister aside, looking at Natalie with disdain. "Natalie, you're not welcome here, go away!"
Adrian used to be infatuated with Natalie, wanting her desperately. But now, he loathed her.
"Adrian, I came here to share some new clues," Natalie said directly. If it wasn't for serious matters, would she be willing to spare another glance at this scum named Adrian?
"What?" Adrian became alert at the mention of clues.
"Adrian, isn't it strange how Hailey suddenly ended up with Edwin?" Natalie analyzed.
"If Hailey and Edwin conspired together, with Victoria's death and Oliver's conviction, who would benefit the most? Edwin! Adrian, I can guarantee with my integrity that Hailey's testimony is fake. She's lying and seeking revenge! If their plot succeeds, she will retaliate against me and Oliver, and against you too!"
"Natalie, stop trying to sow discord here!" Noah resisted and shouted. Tears kept falling whenever she thought of her mother's death. "Don't think I don't know that you want us to turn against our uncle and help Oliver clear his name! Get out! My mom doesn't want to see you!"
Natalie considered herself to have a good temperament, but at this moment, she truly wanted to give Noah a slap, this idiot!
When you can't stand someone, everything they say is wrong—just like Natalie in Adrian's eyes now.
Adrian sneered with anger, "Natalie, I have reason to suspect that your current actions are misleading the witnesses and the victim's family. You are using illegal means to help Oliver clear his name! Maybe, Natalie, you were involved in framing my mother as well. You knew, condoned, or even supported Oliver's actions!"
"Adrian!" Natalie shouted. Once again, Adrian reaffirmed Natalie's perception of deceitful men. His sharp and scheming gaze unmistakably conveyed his intent to seize this opportunity for retaliation against Natalie and erase his past humiliation.
Lyra discreetly glanced at Natalie, took Adrian's hand, and pleaded softly, "Adrian, can we avoid unnecessary confrontations? Our son is watching."
