Chapter 131 I Want Your Wife

As Roger's gaze softened, all signs of hostility vanished, and he seemed to transform into a mythical figure, an elven king.

In that moment, Natalie became aware of her position; she was held tightly in Roger's arms. No wonder she felt uncomfortable.

"That’s not Mr. Windsor!" someone exclaimed.

‘Are they talking about Oliver?’

Natalie’s heart skipped a beat. Then, she heard the sound of water splashing that was different from the rhythmic sound of waves.

Oliver emerged from the surface of the water, panting. His silver mask caught neon lights from the ship.

Another lifeboat approached Oliver, but he paid it no heed, swimming directly toward the one Natalie was in. He effortlessly hoisted himself up onto the lifeboat, his muscles flexing.

"Thank you for saving my wife," Oliver said before he forcefully pulled Natalie into his arms away from Roger.

Natalie flinched. Roger was still holding onto her hand. She attempted to free her hand from him as she thanked him, but he showed no intention of letting it go.

Oliver narrowed his eyes.

Tension filled the atmosphere on the lifeboat.

Oliver and Roger faced each other as silent fireworks filled the air. As equals, no words or actions were needed to elevate the tension.

Roger's expression shifted, his earlier gentleness towards Natalie replaced by an air of arrogance.

"Mr. Windsor, I saved your wife. Is this how you show your gratitude?”

At this time, Natalie coughed violently, expelling water from her lungs and splashing on Oliver’s arms. He did not care about it, and Roger was the same.

Oliver scoffed. However, he felt deeply uncomfortable. After all, there was no denying that the silver-haired man in front of him saved Natalie. He had just been one step behind, but that one step felt like an eternity. He could not stand the thought that another man saved her before he did.

The fear he had experienced while searching for Natalie, the fear of losing her, was the only thing that held back his urge to beat Roger up.

"What do you want?" Oliver asked, ready to offer wealth or status as gratitude. It did not matter as long as the request was not excessive.

Roger chuckled lightly, shifting his gaze from Natalie to Oliver as he said, “I want your wife. Will you give her to me?”

In an instant, the tension that had slightly dissipated surged back, encircling the lifeboat like silent fireworks.

Even the passengers aboard the cruise ship, dozens of meters away, could sense the peculiar atmosphere emanating from the lifeboat.

Natalie's countenance grew pallid. She perceived the abrupt drop in pressure around Oliver, and his hand, which gripped her waist, tightened as if he was reining in his emotions.

"Do you have a death wish?" Oliver asked.

"Mr. Wild, don’t make jokes like that please," Natalie said firmly. She had no inclination for games or ambiguity. If he persisted in this manner, their friendship might be jeopardized. She added, "Mr. Wild, I’m grateful for your help, but can you let go now?"

After nearly drowning, Natalie felt weak all over, and her voice was quivering.

The lifeboat reached the cruise ship's side, and they lowered the gangplank.

Oliver carried Natalie and boarded the ship, with Roger following closely. Trails of water marked their path with every step.

Roger looked at Natalie closely under the bright lights. It had only been a little over a month since they met, and now she was someone else's wife! Fate always seemed to play tricks on him!

Halfway up the stairs, Roger suddenly called out to Oliver, "Mr. Windsor, are you the kind of person who wouldn't care if your wife fell into the sea?"

"It's none of your business!" Oliver responded. He finally had a good look at Roger and felt that the other party was not ordinary.

Roger smiled at Oliver. "I owe Mrs. Windsor a debt of gratitude. If her husband doesn’t care about her, I naturally have to protect her."

Natalie looked at Roger.

In that moment, Roger's mischievous and defiant expression vanished. His expression was gentle when he looked at her.

As they stepped onto the gangway, a man in service attire brought towels and clothes to Roger, showing great respect.

Roger had arranged for this man to be on the cruise ship, so the other party could carry out his orders.

Oliver observed this scene silently.

In the next moment, a suit jacket was placed over Natalie, and Oliver narrowed his eyes dangerously.

Only when Natalie was around did Roger smile warmly, with a look of affection in his eyes.

"These clothes are new. I hope you don't mind," Roger told her, knowing she preferred to keep her distance from others.

When she was younger, she would turn away when her bodyguard applied medicine to him, saying that girls should not see boys' bare bodies.

Oliver’s expression was solemn as he wrapped Natalie in Roger’s suit jacket. Inwardly, he was fuming with anger. He did not want Natalie to be near any suspicious man, and it made him want to punch someone!

Most of all, he could not bear the thought of anyone else seeing Natalie's body. Her dress was wet, clinging to her body now. He never thought that in just half an hour, Natalie would get into trouble. If only he had known, he would not have left!

Roger restrained his emotions. If Oliver had not jumped into the sea to save Natalie, or if Oliver had ignored the state she was in and refused the suit jacket, he would have taken her away and left with hesitation. Alas, there were no ‘ifs’.

While Oliver held Natalie in his arms, everyone in the Windsor family except Adrian had a gloomy expression.
