Chapter 818 Did You Lie to Her About Her Pregnancy
Seeing Oliver discussing work matters with Jamie, Liam whispered in Natalie's ear, "He's going to be scolded by the Old Madam when he returns!"
Before he could finish, Oliver's gaze swept over.
Liam pretended he had not said anything and calmly entered the car with the head chef. They were both heading back to the Rosewood Estate.
Natalie suddenly felt relieved. At least Liam and Marjorie were also kept in the dark by Oliver. It was not just her alone. Finally, she felt a sense of camaraderie.
…
The Rosewood Estate was very large, featuring numerous spare guest rooms and recreational areas.
Casey was housed in a small villa a few hundred meters away from the main building. Oliver had provided her with a professional caregiver, two maids, and a chef, which was considered very generous. Natalie, however, was unaware of this arrangement.
"I don't need all of this," Casey said without hesitation when she saw the staff Jamie brought in.
Although Jamie and Casey were not close friends, having known each other for so long allowed him to understand her personality, so he was not surprised by her refusal.
"Miss Casey, this is Mr. Windsor's way of showing his sincerity. Although he often demands a lot from us, he never mistreats his staff," Jamie explained from a different perspective, "If you recover from your injuries and regain your strength, would it not also be better for protecting Mrs. Windsor?"
When it came to personal matters, Jamie had always been more eloquent than Collin.
Casey had no response. She had to admit that Jamie had persuaded her.
…
After a month away, the Rosewood Estate appeared the same as before.
Oliver disliked changes in furnishings; even the flowers on the dining table were selected according to the day of the week. The only significant change since Natalie's arrival was the addition of ready-to-wear and high-fashion items in her wardrobe.
"Oh, my dear granddaughter-in-law!"
The elderly woman sitting on the sofa could not contain her emotions when Natalie walked through the door, welcoming her warmly.
Natalie's mood, which had been gloomy for nearly a week, lightened somewhat because of Marjorie. Unable to resist teasing her, Natalie deliberately took a step back and said, "Are you really Marjorie? She has never called me 'dear granddaughter-in-law' before!"
"You little rascal!" Marjorie pretended to be angry and snorted.
After a two-second standoff, seeing that Natalie didn't come to coax her, she glanced sideways and happened to catch Natalie looking at her with a smirk.
"Natalie, are you not going to coax me? I'm almost ninety! Ninety! You used to coax me!" Marjorie, in her eighties but with the spirit of an eighteen-year-old, called herself almost ninety and wanted to be pampered.
Natalie knew she was not really upset, so she continued to tease her, smiling and saying, "But now I'm pregnant too, and I need to be pampered as well."
Marjorie finally remembered this matter. Her gaze immediately shifted to Oliver, who had just entered the door half a step behind Natalie, and her smile quickly faded.
"My eldest grandson, come over here!"
Marjorie recognized only the two children Hillary had given birth to, sometimes referring to Oliver as her eldest grandson and Arthur as her second grandson. As for the other two, she could be called cold-blooded and willful, but she refused to acknowledge them!
"Grandma," Oliver called out, unaware of what awaited him.
Marjorie was prepared. As soon as Oliver approached, she picked up her cane and began hitting him.
"I'm going to teach you a lesson. You irresponsible man! You didn't even know your own wife was pregnant! I'll teach you not to forget things! You make so much money but can't even protect your own wife. That young girl next to Natalie is better than all the bodyguards you have! Did you ever learn how to admit your mistakes and apologize? If you had a bit of sense, you would know to learn from your mistakes. And yet, you still have the audacity to come back by car? What if my granddaughter-in-law and grandson get into an accident?"
"Grandma, how do you know it's a boy?" Natalie asked instinctively.
"How could I not know? This brat has always wanted a daughter, right? So, you should give birth to a son and make him mad!" Marjorie replied. She suddenly realized how her words might be interpreted. She quickly added, "Natalie, I don't have a preference for boys over girls. Even if you have a daughter like Lilian who doesn't know much, we can afford to provide for her for a lifetime!"
Natalie did not know what to say for a moment.
'Is it really okay for her to belittle Lilian like that?'
Marjorie seemed to read Natalie's thoughts and innocently blinked her eyes. "I'm not belittling the Norton family' girl. Her mother, Wisdom Jade, said the same thing."
Despite being in her eighties, Marjorie still had a knack for diverting attention. She continued her reprimand while Oliver could only grunt in pain and not fight back.
Marjorie was old, but she still had strength. She hit Oliver with her well-made wooden cane, and with each swing, the hits were painful.
Oliver could only seek help from Natalie, who was standing on the side watching the scene.
Natalie and he locked eyes for a second before she said, fueling Oliver's anticipation, "Grandma, actually he knew about my pregnancy."
Marjorie was visibly shocked. "He knew?"
"He knew at least a month in advance, but he didn't tell me," Natalie explained, seemingly defending Oliver, but in reality, she was escalating the situation, "So, your first accusation against him is invalid. He isn't unaware; he just chose not to inform me or you."
As she spoke, Natalie provocatively looked at Oliver with a smug expression that seemed to say, 'That's right, I intentionally wanted to make you suffer. It serves you right!'
She was merely stating the facts!
Marjorie took a deep breath, and her voice rose a few degrees as she said, "Oliver! Have you lost your mind? How could you hide the fact that your wife is pregnant from her? Why did you deceive her?!"
Natalie nodded in agreement beside them. "Grandma, I think so too. Look, he hasn't refuted anything."
Oliver, who had not been given a chance to speak from the start, finally said, "Fine, say whatever you want."
He was caught between his beloved wife and his feisty eighty-year-old grandmother. What could he possibly do?
Before he could even begin to defend himself, the other party would snap, "You dare to argue back? You even learned to argue back?!"
"Alright. Oliver, how did I raise you? Did I teach you to deceive your wife? You even deceived her about being pregnant! I will beat you to death, you heartless person!
"I thought you merely made a mistake and caused trouble, but it turns out you did it on purpose!
"If Natalie didn't have a good temper, she would have left long ago and never come back! Go live your life on your own!
"If I don't teach you a lesson today, your late mother will not rest in peace!"
