Chapter 199 Catching the cheaters, is Adrian worthy?

Oliver waited for his wife to return and prepare dinner, but as night fell, she had not come back. Thinking about her somewhat unusual behavior the previous night, he chose not to press her, allowing her the freedom to enjoy her time outside.

By 9 PM, Oliver had attempted to call Natalie several times, but to no avail. Concerned for Natalie's safety, he quickly grabbed his coat and left to inquire about her. The staff mentioned they saw her leave but had not noticed her return.

At this time, Hailey, who had been pacing the common area for half an hour, called out worriedly, “Oliver! I’m so glad I found you! Natalie is at the bar. You should… come and have a look!”

Hailey had learned Oliver's room number but chose not to visit directly, aiming to avoid seeming too intentional in her actions.

Upon seeing Hailey, Oliver's expression turned to one of annoyance.

Mistaking Oliver's annoyance for anger toward Natalie, Hailey's heart fluttered with a perverse sense of satisfaction. She clutched at Oliver's sleeve desperately and said, “Oliver, I fear something might happen to Natalie. Despite our misunderstandings, I felt it was right to inform you so you can check on her."

Oliver looked down and coldly said, "Remove your hands."

Hailey, feeling both embarrassed and reluctant, withdrew her hands. Oliver's previous look of disdain felt deeply insulting and humiliating. “Oliver, I assure you I’m telling the truth. Please come with me; I fear for Natalie's safety."

Following Hailey, Oliver arrived at the bar to find it engulfed in chaos, except for a corner in the southwest.

Natalie was there, skillfully mixing drinks. Her cocktail creations, known for their uniqueness, attracted many affluent patrons, eager for flavors they could not find elsewhere in the bar.

Some sought to invite Natalie for a drink, but she was well aware of their intentions. Knowing they cared little about whether she was in a relationship, she maintained her distance.

Men attempted to toast with her, but she only toasted a few women.

Adrian approached at this moment and said, “Natalie, you said you don’t care, but here you are, drowning your sorrows in alcohol!”

The intricacies of Adrian and Natalie's relationship, once a secret, were now the subject of public speculation. As Adrian drew closer, the crowd quieted, anticipating the interaction.

Natalie, ignoring Adrian, continued to mix her drink. Her profile looked almost ethereal under the neon lights, captivating onlookers.

"May I have a moment with Natalie alone?" Adrian asked, his smile unwavering.

The crowd, sensing the moment's intimacy, retreated, smirking and encouraging.

"Of course, Adrian, go ahead!"

However, many of them tried to listen in. Some even took photos, indifferent to the potential impact on the involved parties' relationships.

Adrian sat on the high stool and leaned closer to Natalie, but he was met with a cocktail glass.

Natalie continued to smile as she warned, "Adrian, come any closer, and this drink will end up on your face."

Oliver and Hailey arrived just in time to witness this exchange from their vantage point at the bar.

The crowd parted for them, creating an atmosphere ripe with speculation and intrigue.

"Oliver, this wasn’t my intention! When I saw Natalie here, I worried she’d be drunk so I looked for you. I didn’t know she’d be with Adrian…” Hailey said, feigning anxiety as she looked at Natalie and Adrian. Her feelings were a mix of anticipation and annoyance. She was annoyed that Adrian sought Natalie out, but she anticipated Oliver’s reaction to this.

After a brief observation, Oliver turned and left without a word.

Hailey hurried after him, asking, "Why are you leaving?"

Then, tears began to flow as she continued to say, “Oliver, there’s nothing between me and Adrian. My marriage to him was not by choice. He forced himself on me! I have no feelings for him. It’s clear that he and Natalie share a deep bond…”

"Hailey." Oliver abruptly halted, turning to face her.

At this time, there were not many people around. Most were enjoying the evening at the bar, relaxing in the massage parlor, sitting at the gambling tables, or retreating to the privacy of their rooms. These activities served not just as entertainment but as a means to forge and strengthen connections within their social circles.

The only sounds that punctuated the silence were the rustling of leaves in the gentle wind and the distant, soothing crash of waves.

"Oliver..." Hailey's voice was soft. Her eyes brimming with tears as she gazed up hopefully at the man concealed behind a silver mask. She was well aware of the handsome features that lay hidden beneath.

“Your tactics and deceptions are really disgusting,” Oliver said icily.

Hailey's face drained of colors.

‘How does he know? Impossible!’

She hurried to clarify, "No, you misunderstood me! My intent was not to sow discord between you and Natalie; I had no idea Adrian would be there. Adrian is my fiancé; why would I want to expose his affair with Natalie?"

"Watch your words!" Oliver snapped back. Adrian was not worth mentioning in the same sentence as Natalie.

Silenced by Oliver's rebuke, Hailey watched as he walked away, his demeanor icy, radiating an aura of menace. She had anticipated Oliver confronting Natalie, expecting him to publicly rebuke Natalie. Yet, he simply turned and left. Despite this, she could feel the rage simmering within him.

She stayed close to Oliver as he moved.

Oliver naturally noticed her movements. After a few moments of contemplation, Oliver made a sudden decision to head toward the bar, altering his intended path.

"Aren't you returning?" Hailey asked, trailing behind Oliver to the lounge on the fourth floor.

As a man of status, Oliver enjoyed privileges in this place, with exclusive access to special rooms. His room key granted him entry to these secluded spaces.

A soft click rang in the air, and a flicker of light flashed, signaling the unlocking of the door.

“Why are you still following me?” Oliver asked pointedly. He did not conceal his contempt and disgust at all.

“Can I… Can I talk to you?” Hailey asked, lowering her eyes, attempting to convey a sense of vulnerability. She was unsure if Oliver was drawn to such qualities, but knowing that Natalie was usually subdued and quiet, she hoped that this would attract Oliver’s attention. Perhaps, she would be able to stay with him tonight.
