Chapter 895 Miscarriage

"Jane, if anything happens to my grandson, I'll have you pay with your life!"

She thought, 'Is it really my fault?

'Aurora suddenly felt unwell, so is it really my fault?'

It was unknown how long had passed when Sadie knocked on the door.

Jane struggled to get up. Just this simple movement made her forehead break out in a cold sweat again from the pain.

"Ms. Watkins, Ms. Dewar is bleeding, almost had a miscarriage," Sadie said with a serious expression.

Jane widened her eyes in shock.

She thought, "Almost a miscarriage? All because of my words?
'Yeah, it should be me.

'Aurora was fine originally, after I said those words that Aurora started to have stomachache.'

'Sadie comes here specifically to tell me this, putting the blame for Aurora's current condition on me.'

Sadie then left.

Jane closed the door of the small room, leaning weakly against it, her heart pounding with fear.

She thought, 'I... I almost kill a little life.

'I almost kill an unborn baby.

'Like Ann said, I'm heartless like my father, not valuing human life.'

One of the things Jane had always detested about her father was indirectly causing the death of Anthony's sister, Ann's youngest daughter.

Regardless of the circumstances, innocent children should not pay with their lives.

But she almost killed Aurora's child!

Sadie went back to her room and had to ring Anthony's number twice before she could finally get a hold of him.

"Mr. Clark, Mrs. Ann Clark has called Ms. Watkins to the house. Something has happened, please come back when you have a moment."

Then the person on the other end of the line said something.

Sadie replied, "She slapped Ms. Watkins."

After hanging up the phone, Sadie sighed.

She thought, 'Mr. Clark hasn't been home for over a month, and now he is coming back because of this.'

Although Sadie was brought over from the Baker family by Ann, she was very clear about everything.

At first glance, Aurora seemed fine. But after spending time with her, Sadie always felt something was wrong, and upon closer contact, it made her uncomfortable.

For example, Aurora got engaged to Anthony but then got pregnant with his child before getting married. She now resided openly in the Clark family without an official Mrs. Clark title. She was arrogant and domineering when Anthony was absent but acted very obedient in front of Anthony's mother.

Sadie didn't think Aurora was intentionally two-faced. Aurora might have been subconsciously behaving this way, pretending to be the lady of the room in front of the servants while deliberately pleasing Ann.

In Sadie's view, Ann wasn't a very smart woman. If Aurora married into their family, Ann would only be more easily manipulated by Aurora, which was frustrating.

On the other hand, Sadie watched Anthony grow up, and it was very clear that the person in Anthony's heart was Jane, who was living in that small space under the stairs at that moment.

Anthony had no feelings for Aurora. As for how Aurora ended up pregnant with Anthony's child, Sadie also felt confused.

She even speculated whether the child in Aurora's belly might not be Anthony's at all, but if it wasn't Anthony's, there was no reason for Anthony to let everyone believe that Aurora was the definite Mrs. Clark.

Until late at night, neither Aurora nor Ann had returned.

Jane's back was too sore that she didn't even have the strength to go outside and ask a servant where she could bathe.

She was covered in cold sweat but didn't even think about taking a bath. Jane had never imagined she would be so sloppy!

The small room under the stairs was not only cramped but also windowless, with only the central air conditioning in the villa running 24 hours a day to ventilate.

As Jane lay down, she wondered if she might suffocate during her sleep.

She despised this place, but she needed to force herself to sleep in order to forget the pain.

When she slept, the pain would disappear.

At midnight, Jane vaguely felt the sound of a door unlocking.

A dark figure entered.

Jane almost instantly woke up, grabbing the small knife under her pillow and thrusting it towards the person.

"Jane."

In the moment when her hands and feet were held, she recalled the familiar male voice.

Anthony used to like calling her "Jane" in the quiet night.

"Why don't you turn on the light when you sleep?" Anthony asked, turning on the light in the small room, which was a twenty-watt incandescent light bulb. It was so cheap that it didn't match the grandeur of the mansion.

Light suddenly replaced the darkness. After two seconds, Jane's eyes adjusted the light, and she saw Anthony's face.

Still the same as before, handsome and stern. He frowned at her as if he was about to reprimand her the next second.

"Why turn on the light when sleeping?" Jane self-deprecatingly said, "Anthony, the Jane who was afraid of the dark when sleeping died four years ago."

Anthony's expression turned stern, as if he had heard some miserable news.

As his gaze fell on Jane's swollen left cheek. The hand hanging by his side clenched tightly.

"Let go of me." The pain in Jane's back became clearer because Anthony's hand was pressing on her back.

She thought her voice and tone were normal, but Anthony noticed something strange immediately.

"What's wrong?"
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
