Chapter 366 Afraid of My Wife's Anger

Oliver remained silent, gesturing to the medical team to provide assistance to Susan, the patient.

Susan interpreted this gesture as Oliver's concern and compromise toward her, and a feeling of surprise overwhelmed her heart. She vowed to try even harder, saying, “Oliver, I don’t want to return to Tycoon City. I’ve been getting along with Natalie recently, and I’m sure she wouldn’t be comfortable with the idea of me returning with injuries. Please let me stay, okay?"

"No," Oliver's stance was firm as he said, "Susan, your home is in Tycoon City, not in Paykston. I have already contacted your brother, and he’ll be there to pick you up at the airport."

"Please..." Susan's voice broke, tears streaming down her face.

Leaving Paykston meant diminishing her chances of reclaiming her position by Oliver's side. She was adamant about not leaving. She did not want to leave.

Without uttering another word, Oliver signaled to the medical team to escort Susan back.

The door of the cabin closed once more.

Through the window, Susan watched Oliver, who maintained his usual stoic expression, silently waiting until her plane departed safely.

She thought, ‘Such impeccable courtesy!’

Susan's eyes swept over the luxurious private jet, noting the presence of top-notch doctors, nurses, and flight attendants. Yet, these were far from what she wanted.

"Ms. Hastings, the plane is ready for takeoff. Allow me to fasten your seatbelt for you," a flight attendant said and approached her once again.

One of the medical professionals beside her said, "Ms. Hastings, Mr. Windsor has stated he will cover all your medical expenses and any subsequent costs. Your injuries aren’t overly severe, and you should be able to recover within a month. We’ll take care to ensure no scarring occurs on your skin. Moreover, Mr. Windsor has arranged for supplements and gifts for you and your family, which are already on board the plane. We’ll notify you upon arrival..."

"Do I look like I’m lacking that money?" Susan interjected.

The medical personnel exchanged uneasy looks, uncertain how to respond to Susan's abrupt outburst.

"Are you laughing at me?" Susan asked sharply, drying her tears.

"What do you mean?" one of the medical personnel asked cautiously.

"Laughing at the fact that he wouldn’t let me stay! Laughing at the fact that he sent me away because of Natalie!" Remembering Oliver's behavior earlier, Susan felt a surge of anger toward Natalie, wishing she could tear Natalie into pieces!

"You’re overthinking this," the medical personnel replied, careful to avoid any further mistakes.

The Hastings family was a powerful entity, and this lady was a member of that family.

Susan immediately realized her mistake. She quickly forced a smile on her face and said apologetically, "I’m sorry, the wound was too painful, and my emotions are a bit unstable."

The medical staff quickly offered reassurance. However, when they were out of Susan’s hearing range, their professional demeanors dissipated, giving way to eye-rolling and sarcastic remarks.

"Susan is really ridiculous. What’s wrong with Oliver sending her away for his wife’s sake? Does he still need to accommodate her and disregard his own affairs?”

"Such a minor injury and just a little blood, but she cried as though she had lost her limb! Does she think we’ve never seen a serious injury before?”

“I didn’t expect her to be so shameless. I used to admire her. I suspect she’s one of those women who would pursue a married man!”

“Suspect? She IS one of those women. When I read the comments accusing her of being a homewrecker, I was skeptical, but now, I have no doubts.”

Natalie, exhausted, struggled to find peace in sleep. In the middle of the night, she was jolted awake by a noise within the room.

A tall figure entered and quietly shut the door behind him.

In the dim light, only the faint moonlight filtering through the sheer curtains illuminated the room.

Oliver paused before making his way to Natalie and sitting on the edge of the bed. He leaned in and kissed her forehead.

"Why aren’t you asleep?" He gently moved the strands of hair sticking to her cheek.

"I was asleep, but then I woke up," Natalie responded, slightly confused, and glanced at the time on her phone. It was 1:00 a.m..

"Didn’t you say you’d be arriving tomorrow?” Her voice was hoarse, betraying her recent awakening.

Oliver said, somewhat resentful. “My wife is upset, so I had to return sooner. Otherwise, who knows if I’d be locked out of the house?”

Natalie rolled her eyes, thinking, ‘This house belongs to you. Everyone in this house, from the staff to the pets, caters to your whims. How could you possibly be locked out?’

The room had warmed slightly. Oliver removed his coat, propped himself up with one hand beside Natalie, and leaned in for a few more kisses.

After enough kisses, he asked her, “What are you angry about, Mrs. Windsor?"

In the silent night, the man's voice was especially pleasant and gentle.

"I’m not angry," Natalie said casually.

"Then why did you refuse to pick me up?” Oliver did not fully grasp the workings of a woman's mind, but fortunately, he still recognized when Natalie was upset.

"That doesn’t mean I’m angry. Were you angry at me previously?" Natalie said.

‘After all, didn’t he fail to pick me up previously?’ she thought to herself, but she quickly stopped herself from dwelling on the past.

"I... I merely need time to process all these events," Natalie said as she curled up in the blanket, hiding her chin. "I need to focus on my mental well-being."

Oliver chuckled, drawing her out from beneath the covers.

"What mental well-being? I’m your husband, not Susan's. The reason I remained there was because you didn’t allow me to leave. What do you need to process?" His words were nothing but the truth. Even Lilian scolded him for being a scumbag.

Oliver turned on the bedside lamp and immediately saw Natalie's look of guilt. He lifted her up and kissed her for some time. Resting his head in the crook of Natalie's neck, he inhaled deeply, savoring her unique scent. Once again, he thought about having a daughter as cute as her, but it was just a fleeting thought, nothing more.

"The DNA test result is out, and indeed, I’m not related to the Watson family." Natalie shared regarding the purpose of her return to the capital this time.

"That’s good," Oliver remarked with nonchalance. He harbored no interest in any connection to Robert, Hailey, and the others.

Natalie expressed her displeasure by pouting. "I’m not related to Lucas."

Oliver remained unfazed. “What does it matter? Henry and I are related; so what?”

It only served to complicate matters unnecessarily.

Natalie was mildly taken aback. "Aren’t you concerned about my relationship with Lucas?"

"Concerned about what? Concerned that your younger brother would take advantage of you?" Oliver scoffed.

Natalie struck him lightly and glared at him with her beautiful eyes. “What nonsense are you spouting?”
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
