Chapter 596 That’s Just Tragic

Oliver lowered his voice and said, "Ask Natalie what she wanted to say to me earlier."

"Why don't you ask her yourself?"

"What's with all the questions?"

Lillian's face lit up with a sly look as she said, "I got it! You're too shy, aren't you? Because you and Natalie haven't made up, you're too embarrassed to ask her."

Oliver playfully tapped her head, urging, "Go on, tell her you want to know."

"But how would I know Natalie wanted to talk to you?" Lillian smartly pointed out a logical flaw.

"Say you saw it, what, are your eyes just for decoration?"

"I like to think my eyes are more than just decoration!"

Soon after Natalie had gotten into her car, Lillian bounded up with a smile, leaning on the window. "Natalie, what did you want to tell Oliver earlier?"

"How did you know?" Natalie's expression shifted, her tone tinged with suspicion.

"I saw you." Lillian boasted with pride, smug about her powers of foresight, as Natalie had indeed asked that very question.

"Where did you see it from?" Natalie questioned without waiting for an answer, continuing, "I didn't see you just now; you must have been at the diner, right? How could you tell I wanted to talk to Oliver?"

Caught in a corner, Lillian blinked stiffly and her head drooped in defeat.

There was no need for guesses now; Natalie knew who had put her up to this.

Nobody but Oliver.

Natalie massaged her forehead, lost in thought, but she shifted the topic aside for the moment: "By the way, I've got a show next month. If you still want to be my assistant, I’ll let you know the time and place."

"Really?!" Lillian's eyes widened with excitement. "You're finally going to make an appearance? Of course, I'm in! Is it domestic or international? Which brand? Or is it a designer's show?"

"Which brand has such good taste? She must have splurged a fortune on their clothes!"

"It's my friend, Flora. I'm the opening and closing model for her show."

"Flora?" Lilian asked with a puzzled expression.

Natalie corrected her, "Flora is a single mom, and she has nothing to do with Arthur now."

"So, just like Oliver, Arthur is also single now. That's so sad!"

Lilian, giddy with excitement, headed back to Oliver's side, unable to stop thinking about Natalie making a comeback on the runway.

Oliver, seeing her beaming, figured she must have heard some good news. "What did she say?"

"Natalie said she's going to be in Flora's show next month, and she's the star model opening and closing the event!" Lilian beamed with joy.

Oliver stared at her blankly, "What about the question you were supposed to ask?"

Lilian's smile vanished, and her face flushed with embarrassment, "I... I forgot."

Oliver thought his little cousin was good for nothing except spending money.

Oh, but she did bring back one piece of useful information—Natalie was going to be in a fashion show next month, yet he hadn't been aware of it.

Undeterred by Oliver's cold glance, Lilian eagerly shared the good news with Lucas.

"Did you hear? Natalie's going to be in a fashion show! She'll be the feature model for both the opening and the closing!" Lilian was practically dancing with excitement.

Lucas was taken aback by the news, torn between happiness and a touch of sadness.

Happy that his sister would return to the stage she loved, yet sad that Natalie, his own sister, always seemed to make sure Lilian knew the news before he did, her brother.

Lilian was so thrilled, anyone would think Natalie was her own sister!

"You didn't know, did you?" Lilian said, smugly. "I think I must have been the third person to find out, even our cousin didn't know!"

Lucas felt a twinge of jealousy, seeing that she seemed to hold a place in Natalie's life possibly equal to his own, yet he couldn't really blame her for it. Still in good spirits, he asked, "So, who were the first and the second to know?"

"Of course, Natalie herself and the designer! Oh, by the way, the designer is Flora—do you know her? She's a great friend of Natalie's."

Lucas certainly knew of Flora.

Despite no illustrious family backing her and being an emerging designer, even if it seemed like Flora had a bright future ahead, the world of fashion finance was both cruel and indifferent. Lucas wondered if Flora might be facing some financial difficulties for her debut show.

Lilian had a brief chat with Lucas and realized that although he was smart and impressive, he was not exactly an enthusiastic fan.

How could he not even be aware of the sensational praise Natalie deserved for her triumphant return to the runway?

Realizing they weren't on the same page, Lilian decided to turn to her friend, Noah Mitchell.

When Noah heard the news, her eyes widened visibly, and she leaped up, exclaiming with joy, "Really? Is it true? Natalie's going back to the top! Oh, I'm so thrilled!"

Now that was the kind of reaction a true fan should have!

Noah chuckled, "Well, aside from being a die-hard couple shipper, I'm actually a huge fan of Natalie's work too. My novel's protagonist is inspired by her!"

Noah asked, "When's the show? Do we have to scramble for tickets, or are they by invitation?"

"It's a Flora’s show. Even though the designer's not huge yet, Natalie's opening and closing the model lineup! I'm not sure if it's a ticket battle or reservation... probably reservations, since it’s a debut show and likely not open to the public for ticket sales."

Lilian had a grasp of these fashion nuances and unspoken rules, given her upbringing among the prestigious family, synonymous with aristocracy and style.

"Of course, I know Flora! They're the ones who teamed up with Evening Treasure to expose that plagiarist Susan!" Noah then turned to her significant other, Ethan, "Ethan, Ethan! I need to get to Flora's show! Can you score some tickets?"

Reservations depending on one's social standing, Noah knew she wasn't the quintessential socialite or a fashion regular. She was simply a fangirl and an obscure romance writer, largely relying on her husband.

Ethan looked at Noah with a mix of amusement and bewilderment. Why had he agreed to marry such a woman?
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
