Chapter 874 No Daughter, Unhappy!
After Dr. John finished speaking, he realized belatedly that the atmosphere seemed stiff.
Everyone's gaze was fixed on John, each with their own strange expression. But, Oliver, who had just become a father, had a frozen face, showing no joy at having a child. Marjorie was holding back a smile, looking like she was enjoying the show. The other members of the Windsor family were all staring blankly at Oliver, as if waiting for something.
No, John, who had been an obstetrician for decades, had never encountered such strange family members before!
"Oliver, do you have any questions?" Dr. John decided that he needed to communicate with Natalie's husband.
"Son?" Oliver asked.
Dr. John smiled and said, "Yes! Although he's not heavy but he's very healthy. He's the most handsome baby I've delivered!"
Upon confirming once again that Natalie had given birth to a son, Oliver, whose face was not particularly attractive at first, turned even colder.
"The baby is out!" The nurse came out carrying the infant. "Would the family like to see him? We need to take the baby to the nursery for observation for a day."
Oliver didn't even glance at his son, showing no desire to look at him, and asked the nurse who had just come out, "Where's Natalie?"
"Natalie will be out soon. Your baby is gentle. He came out quickly so Natalie didn't suffer much, and she's doing fine now."
The nurse was taken aback. Nowadays, it was rare to see a man who didn't even look at his newborn baby but was solely concerned about his wife. In prominent families that valued lineage and inheritance, such men were even rarer, perhaps one in a decade.
Marjorie, upon hearing that Natalie was doing well, relaxed and cheerfully beckoned the nurse, "Bring the baby over for me to see!"
The nurse happily complied.
‘Why did it feel like a product that someone finally wanted to buy?’ The nurse pondered.
Such a handsome baby boy, yet Oliver didn't even spare a glance!
"My great-grandson looks so handsome!" Marjorie praised the newborn from head to toe, then suddenly realized something was amiss, "Why isn't he crying?"
"The baby cried a couple of times in the delivery room but then stopped. Some children just don't like to cry," the nurse explained.
"Oh, that's good. I thought he might be mute," Marjorie said with concern. "He looks like Oliver, both in appearance and temperament. Oliver, you didn't cry when you were born either. I thought you were mute back then."
Upon hearing this, Oliver realized that not only was it a son, but a son who looked like him and had his temperament. In an instant, he had even less expectation for this son so he didn't want to look.
If Oliver hadn't personally escorted Natalie to the delivery room and witnessed the child being born, he would have doubted whether the child was his.
"Natalie is out!" The sound of the bed wheels came from inside.
Natalie lay on the bed, sweat wiping away, with hair tidied by the nurse. But her face was pale, looking exhausted.
Like a shadow, Oliver appeared next to Natalie in the blink of an eye.
"Thank you for your hard work, Honey." Oliver held Natalie's hand, kissing her forehead affectionately.
Although the delivery went smoothly, Natalie was still completely drained.
Natalie managed a smile and then looked around, as if there was a telepathic connection between her and her son. She almost immediately found the direction of the baby.
"Baby, did you see?" Natalie asked Oliver with effort.
Before Oliver could even respond, Natalie could tell from his eyes that he hadn't looked!
"He hasn't looked!" Marjorie, who was older and moved slowly, finally reached Natalie's side. "Natalie, you've worked hard! Well done!"
She even gave a thumbs-up, as if praising a child.
Natalie was at a loss for words.
"Well, look at your son! Look at him quickly!" Natalie grabbed Oliver's hand, wanting to shake it, but lacking the strength, she could only weakly pinch it.
Natalie had glanced at the baby in the operating room earlier. Although she felt that newborns all looked similar, she was certain that her son was the most handsome one.
Oliver wanted to refuse, but when he met Natalie's pleading eyes, he couldn't bring himself to say no.
The nurse holding the baby immediately lifted him up a bit to make it easier for Oliver to see.
Newborn babies usually have slightly red skin and wrinkled features, resembling little old men. The Windsor family's baby boy was no exception, but male babies tended to look much more handsome. With thick and long eyelashes, upon closer inspection, there was a hint of Oliver's shadow in his features.
Oliver's disdain was evident, but under Natalie's intense gaze, he reluctantly extended a finger and lightly touched his son's face.
The baby's sudden burst of crying was quite remarkable. The previously calm Windsor family baby boy seemed to have been pinched and started crying.
“Was this baby looking for trouble from the get-go?”
“Was this boy here to settle a score?” He murmured.
"Why is the baby crying? Oliver, why is the baby crying?" Natalie, worried, tried to sit up to see, but was stopped by John, who quickly reassured her that it was normal for babies to cry loudly, indicating good lung capacity.
Oliver remained expressionless, thinking to himself, ‘Perhaps we both dislike each other.’
Marjorie slapped her grandson's arm and gave him a stern look. "He must know and he's angry, he knows you prefer daughters!"
Oliver, watching the crying baby, burst out a cold laugh.
‘I'm still angry!’ He thought.
Seeing that something seemed off, the nurse said, "I'll take the baby to the nursery first."
Marjorie nodded, asking Oliver to accompany Natalie back to the ward while she spoke with John to understand the situation.
Dr. John informed Marjorie about Natalie and the baby's health conditions one by one, briefly explaining the precautions for the next 24 hours. In reality, these matters were all handled by the nurses, but informing the family was to put their minds at ease.
"Marjorie, why does Oliver seem a bit unhappy?" After discussing the important matters, Dr. John cautiously asked, afraid that something might have been done wrong by him or the hospital.
Marjorie smiled while looking in the direction of Natalie's ward and said, "Oliver is wanting a daughter still. Since no daughter was born, he's unhappy!"
The nurses fell silent.
But Marjorie looked particularly pleased, almost gloating.
Are you really Oliver's biological mother?
Men in prominent families who desired daughters were rare, and this family was quite peculiar!

It took over an hour for Lucas to rush from the university town to the hospital. By the time he arrived at the hospital, Natalie was already in the ward. Under Mr. Liam's guidance, he first went to see his nephew before visiting Natalie.
