Chapter 134 Oliver's Woman Doesn't Need an Apology
Even if someone was not familiar with the affairs of the Windsor family or did not know Oliver, it was clear to anyone with sight that Oliver was not someone to be trifled with. Even Henry seemed wary.
“Apologize,” Oliver said.
From Natalie’s point of view, she could see Oliver’s chin and his long and curly eyelashes. He was usually reserved, but today he spoke up for her. She lowered her eyes, trying to hide the emotions that were surging in her heart.
Hailey lowered her head and clenched her hands until her nails were digging into her palms as she said, “Natalie, I’m sorry! I misunderstood you before.”
At this time, Robert quickly said, “Natalie, it was just a misunderstanding between you two sisters. Don’t make a scene now like you always do. Let’s discuss this later!”
Robert spoke as though Natalie had always disliked Hailey and was trying to embarrass Hailey now.
Natalie saw through Robert’s thoughts and said casually, “Alright. Let’s just skip over the apologies. I’m already used to it by now.”
‘Are you the only one who knows how to insinuate things?’
After Natalie spoke, Robert’s expression turned gloomy. If Mrs. Watson had not been holding him back, he might have cursed out loud.
Oliver remained silent. If he spoke now, it would only be adding fuel to the fire.
Meanwhile, Hailey felt as though everyone was laughing at her, and she felt her face burning with humiliation. The entire time, Adrian did not say a word to help her. He did not support her at all despite being her fiancé!
At the same time, Hailey did not hate Oliver at all despite his humiliation of her. Instead, she directed all her anger to Natalie. In her opinion, Oliver’s tenderness and protection should have belonged to her while his anger should be aimed at Natalie.
“Now that Hailey has apologized to Natalie, shouldn’t Natalie apologize to Noah?”
Victoria comforted Noah briefly before addressing the issue at hand. This was an ideal moment to shift everyone’s focus away from Natalie’s previous comments.
Both the Watson and Harrington families felt uneasy, aware that Adrian initially pursued Natalie diligently. However, it was Hailey who ultimately betrayed Natalie and snatched Adrian away, forcing Natalie to marry Oliver in her place.
Revealing these details would embarrass Adrian and Hailey the most.
“My wife doesn’t have to apologize to anyone,” Oliver said, arrogant as always. Then, he glanced at Noah and said scornfully, “Why don’t I apologize to you? Do you think you’ll be able to accept an apology from me?”
“No need! No need!” Noah responded immediately, shaking her head and unwilling to deal with that madman in front of her. She could not afford an apology from Oliver.
Victoria pinched her daughter discreetly, silently scolding the latter for the latter’s timidity.
…
This drama, along with several incidents, became the talk of Paykston’s high society:
Natalie, once mistreated by the Watson family, was now cherished by Oliver and enjoyed a higher status than Hailey. The complex dynamics between the Watson sisters and the Windsor family, especially Adrian’s unresolved feelings for Natalie, became evident. However, it was clear that Natalie did not like Adrian.
Contrary to the rumors, Oliver had a strong presence, tall and healthy, with no sign of weakness. After all, he dove into the sea for his wife and even carried his wife for half an hour. How could someone like that be weak?
…
When they were alone, Natalie finally spoke up.
"I'd like to ask you something," Natalie said in a hushed tone, but it was loud enough for Oliver, who was holding her close, to hear.
Oliver's expression darkened. It was unknown what he was angry about.
Natalie fixed her gaze on him and asked, "You know Flora, don't you?"
Oliver's steps briefly halted, and he lowered his gaze to meet hers with a flicker of surprise in his eyes.
Natalie was taken aback, her heart tightening. She asked with great difficulty, "Were you... involved with her romantically, or in some sort of contractual relationship?"
Oliver furrowed his brow.
‘What on earth is this woman thinking?’
"Who told you that?"
Natalie painfully closed her eyes. Words could not describe her feelings after finding out she married the man who caused her best friend’s death. After a moment, she scolded, “Oliver, you bast*td!”
Oliver felt his anger surge again. Another man openly coveted his wife, he was threatened by said man, and now, he was inexplicably scolded by his wife. If it were someone else saying these words and glaring at him, he would have immediately thrown the person into the sea to feed the fish!
"What did you say?"
Oliver's temper was already on edge. Over the past few days, he had been suppressing all his frustrations to comfort Natalie, and now, due to her outburst, his patience had worn thin.
Natalie glared at him and scolded, "Oliver, were you aware that Flora might have been pregnant back then? She was barely an adult at the time, and yet you shamelessly laid a hand on her. Your woman and your child fell into the sea, and you acted like nothing happened. Do you even have a shred of humanity in you?"
She felt ironic mentioning humanity when there were plenty of inhumane things happening in this place.
"Who told you that Flora was with me?" Oliver's expression darkened like a stormy sky as he said, "She was with Arthur! Is your brain made of mush?"
Natalie was stunned. Indeed, Noah had only said the other party was her uncle and someone she knew, and she instantly associated Oliver with it. She completely forgot that Oliver had a younger brother, Arthur.
If Noah had directly stated it was Oliver, Natalie might not have believed it. But when someone presented things with fifty percent truth, it would become more convincing.
"Do you know Flora?" Oliver quickly regained his composure.
"She… She was my best friend," Natalie replied, lowering her gaze to conceal her sadness and pain.
…
The luxurious cruise ship was equipped with suites, entertainment rooms, a gym, and more.
Natalie took a bath in the master bathroom of the suite, while Oliver used another bathroom.
When Natalie was done with her bath, Oliver had already been waiting outside for an hour. She was still in a daze, preoccupied with thoughts about Flora and Arthur, whom she had never met before.
In the past, she thought Flora and Arthur's relationship was forced because Flora revealed her helplessness and pain more than once in the past. However, if she was not mistaken, Rosy mentioned that Arthur and Oliver fell out because of Arthur’s lover who died at sea.
‘That lover had to be Flora, right?’
Natalie did not understand Oliver's role in all of this, but from Flora's diary and words, she could tell that Flora’s breakup with Arthur had nothing to do with Oliver. However, what was confusing was that in the diary, Flora made it seem like Arthur had no feelings for her. Moreover, why would Arthur fall out with his brother over someone he did not care for?
The truth about matters of the heart, as people said, remained known only to those involved.
Natalie was so lost in her thoughts that it took a while for her to realize she had no clothes to change into. After scanning the bathroom, she found only a towel, not even a bathrobe!
