Chapter 717 To Die with a Clear Understanding

"When I left, she seemed to be in the room playing games with your younger brother."

Natalie was puzzled, thinking, 'If she didn't let you follow, why did she go play games with Lucas?'

"Lilian voluntarily sought out Lucas?" In Natalie's understanding, these two people shouldn't be playing games together frequently. Their skill levels were simply not on the same level, how could they play together?

Playing like this... wouldn't Lucas find it boring?

Natalie remembered that when she was in the variety show group, Lucas had an attitude of "I'll stop playing once I'm done accompanying, I won't even accompany for money anymore!"

"I'm not sure," Casey said truthfully. "They have been playing together quite often recently."

Natalie tapped her forehead, puzzled. No, the rhythm of this...sounded like online dating?

"Casey, I have another question for you," Natalie said mysteriously.

"Ask away, Miss Watson."

"You share a room with Lilian. Have you ever heard her chatting with her boyfriend? What kind of person do you think he is?"

Lilian and Casey were Natalie's assistants, sharing a double room.

Though it was called a double room, it was actually quite spacious.

"I haven't heard anything," Casey thought, but I often hear Lilian, that silly girl, chatting with her brother.
Natalie felt like she had been neglectful of her brother lately and was unable to keep up with his and her cousin's rhythm.

After finishing class, Natalie returned to the committee and overheard them discussing Room 1 in the East Wing.

"There are so many wealthy people in Paykston. I just took a glance from afar and saw people coming in and out who must be servants, even the servants travel in a Rolls-Royce."

"That's right, the orderliness there is almost on par with European royalty."

"Joseph, do you know who lives there?" someone asked Joseph.

"I don't know," Joseph, who was usually quiet, answered. "I've been abroad for the past few years."
The others suddenly realized.

Indeed, Joseph hadn't been in the country before, so how could he know about the elites in Paykston?
When Natalie approached, everyone's eyes lit up, ready to ask questions. But Joseph said, "Natalie, I need to talk to you about something."

"Okay!"
Natalie felt relieved and followed him.

She had clearly seen in the gaze of the others that they were curious, probably wanting to ask her about that Room 1 in the East Wing.

Natalie had just checked it out earlier on the way. Oliver had bought a small villa, which happened to be Room 1 in the East Wing, one of the best villas in the estate.

"Thank you!"

"I didn't want to relieve you," Joseph replied ungratefully. "What I want is gratitude from you."

"What?" Natalie was confused. She didn't have much contact with Joseph, so she didn't understand his nonsensical words.

"Didn't I say before that I wanted your agent to thank me?"

"Emily... Natalie mentioned Joseph to Emily Reed when they were talking about work last night, but she wasn't really interested in thanking Joseph.

"She doesn't want to see me?"

Natalie saw a hint of desolation and hurt in Joseph's face, but it quickly disappeared.

"Emily said she's thankful to you but doesn't want to meet you. She asked you to leave an address, and she will send a thank-you gift." Natalie carefully chose her words, hoping not to hurt him too much. "Joseph, I know a little about your history with Emily, but it seems like she doesn't want much to do with you now, regardless of what happened in the past."

"Is she just avoiding me, or is she trying not to involve me? I'm not the same Joseph who let others take advantage of him. I'm not completely powerless against Samuel!" Joseph sarcastically chuckled. "Tell her I only accept one thank-you gift, and that is herself. Besides that, nothing else can be discussed."

"Joseph, you like Emily, don't you?" Natalie looked into his eyes.

She used to think that Joseph was emotionally detached because of his whole demeanor, which was ethereal. His international reputation was "focused on his career, indifferent to worldly matters." But now, Natalie saw intense emotions in his eyes.

"Yes." Joseph answered without hesitation. "I love her, loved her before, and still love her now."

"But does she love you?"

Joseph froze.

Taking a shallow breath, Natalie said, "You're so certain now, are you sure Emily has feelings for you? Does she like you?"

Natalie didn't even use the word "yet," because she even felt that Emily Reed had never had romantic feelings for Joseph from the beginning to the end.

Emily Reed might have only seen Joseph as a mentor to her talent.

Just blinded by a horse's devotion.

"Whether she likes me or not is her business, but whether I want to see her is my business," Joseph said, realizing his words sounded extreme.

Looking at the artificial lake in the distance, he said, "Natalie, one must understand even when facing death. Do you understand this feeling?"

Natalie didn't understand the phrase "understand even when facing death."

If it were her, knowing that the outcome wouldn't be satisfactory, she would give up halfway and cut her losses.

Not digging into the root of the problem like Joseph.

Joseph said that after years of hard work and climbing up the ranks, he became the number one male model in the country and had an unshakable position in the international supermodel and fashion circles, all in order to someday rival Samuel.

Natalie agreed to help Joseph and arranged a meeting for him with Emily Reed, so that he could understand things better.

After finishing work, Natalie returned to her small villa.

This time, she specifically looked at the house number and indeed it was number 1 in the East district. Although there wasn't a Rolls-Royce parked in front of the house now, there were two cars in the garage. Mr. Liam was standing at the door, smiling at her.

"Lady, the young master said to bring the chef over, so I also brought two servants, the ones you are used to." Mr. Liam prepared to leave as soon as Natalie returned.

Natalie gently reminded Mr. Liam, "Liam, you brought so many people today... seems a bit excessive, don't you think?"

"Excessive?" Mr. Liam disagreed. "Just because I brought a few people? Madam specifically instructed to bring the best to you, fearing that you would be uncomfortable living outside. Madam said that this is the arrangement you should have as Mrs. Windsor, they are all for you!"

"..." With Marjorie's arrangements, it seemed that this first-class Rolls-Royce was just the beginning, after all, Marjorie even dressed up when meeting suitors in her own estate.

Fortunately, Mr. Liam was prudent in his actions. Although it was grand, he truly only left two servants and one chef. The chef cooked, the servants took care of the household chores and looked after Natalie.

Natalie was puzzled by this. She had experienced living alone with Oliver outside before, but this was the first time she had invited people from Rosewood Estate.
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
