Chapter 684 My Baby

The "punishment" continued from the bathroom to the bed, and then moved to Oliver's long-unused swing chair.

Natalie was exhausted, and it wasn't until she was half-conscious that she remembered to say, "We've been photographed, you know..."

"Go to sleep," Oliver whispered, holding her in his arms.

Of course, he knew; he even knew that their ‘couple’ fanbase was as ecstatic as if it were a holiday.

Natalie snuggled into his embrace, finding a comfortable position to lie down.

"Baby," Oliver suddenly spoke.

He asked, "Would it be okay to have a daughter with me?"

The woman in his arms gave an unconscious murmur of assent, not hearing anything.

Oliver raised an eyebrow in satisfaction, saying, "That's the second time I've sought your opinion, and you've agreed both times."

— In truth, she hadn't heard anything.

Oliver glanced at the trash can and noticed the count was off by two from the number of times they had been intimate.

He had little interest in children, especially since his niece, Tina, began demanding attention from Natalie. But having children was always a form of security and peace of mind.

Soon, it was time to go to court.

Oliver and Natalie left for the courthouse together from Rosewood Estate. Before departing, Marjorie pulled Oliver aside to whisper fiercely, "If you don't win this lawsuit decisively, don't bother coming back!"

Natalie, passing by just then, overheard and teased Marjorie with a smile, "Grandma, are you defending me that much?"

"I am... I'm defending the Windsor family's daughter-in-law, not you. If you had truly divorced Oliver back then, no one would be defending you now!" Marjorie retorted haughtily, turning away, only to involuntarily glance back at Natalie, "How can you go into battle unarmed?"

After expressing her dissatisfaction, Marjorie instructed the newly promoted personal maid.

Within moments, the maid returned with a box. Inside was a string of smooth round pearls, large and lustrous, with a black pearl of exceptional quality as the centerpiece of the necklace.

Natalie subconsciously touched her bare neck, but Marjorie was already taking her by the wrist, slipping the pearl bracelet onto her.

"Grandma, I don't need to..." Natalie started to object but was silenced by Marjorie's stern "be quiet" look. She turned to Oliver for help with pleading eyes.

Oliver stood nonchalantly with his hands in his pockets, giving Natalie an appraising look. Catching her plea for help in her eyes, he finally spoke up after a few seconds, "Grandma, this isn't quite appropriate."

Natalie breathed a sigh of relief. Yeah, who goes to court decked out in so much jewelry?

"Pearls aren't suitable for court; switch to a diamond set," Oliver suggested.

Marjorie had an epiphany, "You're right, pearls are too gentle looking." Besides, some might not recognize how expensive her pearl set was. They might even mistake it for a freshwater pearl set worth just tens of thousands!

Marjorie immediately instructed the maid to fetch a different set of jewelry.

Natalie was befuddled.

Seated in the car, Natalie carefully inspected her diamond necklace, earrings, and bracelet in the mirror. Despite their subtle design, the sizable stones caught her attention. Yet, a sense of familiarity lingered, yet she couldn't remember where she had seen it before.

"Aren't you nervous?" asked Oliver.

Natalie put the mirror back, putting it out of her mind for now. She shook her head, a hint of pride in her voice, "It's not like I'm the one going to court."

Oliver was momentarily taken aback but soon remembered, her first time in court was for him. And as her husband, he was the one seated in the defendant's box.

Oliver had investigated Natalie's past and knew aside from that one occasion, she had never been to court before.

He couldn't resist ruffling Natalie's hair and gave her a peck on the head, praising her, "Mrs. Windsor, you're amazing."

"Are you treating me like a child?" Natalie retorted with a playful frown.

Oliver drawled lazily, "Well, that's not entirely off the table." As far as he was concerned, she could always be his baby, if she desired.

They took a special passage into the courtroom, avoiding the press. However, since this was a public trial, some journalists had secured seats to observe.

The reporters had initially aimed to thoroughly document the attempted murder case involving high society and a top female model. But to their astonishment... Mr. Windsor had shown up at the scene!

Oliver had made his way to the spectator gallery alone, with no one noticing whom he had arrived with.

So... Was Mr. Windsor there for Susan, or was it for Natalie?

Wait, what about Natalie's mysterious, masked husband—had he appeared in the courtroom, too?

It seemed like the solemn court atmosphere had suddenly become charged with gossip due to Oliver's presence.

If the entertainment journalists outside knew Oliver was there, they would likely go crazy!

In the courtroom, Susan had visibly lost weight, yet she seemed to be holding up well. Thanks to the Hastings family pulling some strings and providing various materials, Susan had managed to get bail. She was only suffering from mental strain, and her composure was still pretty good.

On the other side, Natalie's attorney was a big shot, well-known in the industry, and had acted as Oliver's personal lawyer for private matters, though few outsiders were aware that he worked for Oliver.

The Hastings family had enlisted the services of a foreign lawyer who had recently returned to the country. This lawyer had previously been helped by old Mr. Hastings and agreed to defend Susan.

From a legal standpoint, both parties were equally matched, ensuring that the courtroom debate was nothing short of thrilling.
