Chapter 999 My Employer

"That man next to Richard Foster is the head of the Richardson family. I want to ask him about my brother's whereabouts," Jane said, already aware that Jovan was temporarily safe. But it wouldn't hurt to make contact with someone from the Richardson family.

It's said that know the enemy and know yourself, and you will never be in peril.

Anthony looked at Jane with a stern face, thinking she would abandon this idea after a while.

Unexpectedly, Jane stubbornly sat in the restaurant for an extra hour, waiting until Richard and the head of the Richardson family finished their meal and walked out together.

Jane eagerly stood up, grabbed her handbag, and was about to chase after them when Anthony seized her wrist.

Jane, focused entirely on finding out about Jovan, but didn't notice that Anthony's face had turned extremely grim.

"What information do you want? I'll tell you," Anthony said.

"If you knew, you should have told me already," Jane retorted, then changed her tone. "If you really knew something and didn't tell me in the past, you wouldn't tell me now either. Even if you did, you'd only tell me part of it. I'd rather ask myself."

Anthony was irritated. 'Where does Jane get all these arguments?' he thought.

"I'll tell you everything!" Anthony promised harshly.

'I don't care now!' Jane thought to herself. If she couldn't get any information from the head of the Richardson family, she could always come back to Anthony later.

"Jane Watkins! That man is the head of the Richardson family. Do you think he's a good person?" Anthony didn't want Jane to get close to Richard.

Although Jane didn't like Richard, from his behavior yesterday, it was clear that he hadn't given up on her.

Jane, unconcerned, resorted to character assassination against Anthony with a smile on her face saying, "You're not a good person either."

With that, Jane quickly slipped away and chased after them.

Anthony was so angry . He wanted to tie Jane up and give her a good lesson.

But Anthony's current status didn't give him that right.

"Mr. Foster! Mr. Foster, please wait!"

Richard had just stepped out of the restaurant when he heard Jane's charming voice behind him.

Richard had seen Jane in person only a few times, but he didn't need to look and know it was her.

Miss Watkins of the Watkins family appeared cold and stunning, but her voice was gentle and sweet, with a touch of cuteness.

A smile flickered in Richard's eyes as he turned around. "Ms. Watkins, good day to you."

As soon as Richard spoke, Jane felt a wave of fear, as if she were being dominated by an intellectual. She almost shivered that someone was still using the greeting "good day to you" these days.

But for Jovan's sake, Jane thought she could endure Richard.

However, Jane soon realized she was wrong.

With a smile in his eyes, Richard said, "I thought Ms. Watkins would still pretend not to see me ."

'So Richard had indeed seen me earlier!

'Richard is in his thirties and how could he not pretend he doesn't seen anything?

'Now everyone feels awkward!' Jane thought.

Jane mentally criticized Richard a hundred times but still said with smile, "I haven't seen you in so long, so I was afraid I'd mistaken someone else for you."

Then she shifted her focus, glancing at the Western man beside Richard, pretending not to know him, and asked with perfect acting, "Mr. Foster, who is this gentleman?"

Richard, who was adept at reading people and understanding human nature, immediately figured out why Jane had suddenly changed her mind and come to him.

It was simply because she recognized the identity of the person beside Richard and wanted Richard to introduce him, thereby probing for information about Jovan. 'Jane, indeed, is still so clever,' Richard thought.

This time, Richard didn't expose Jane and smoothly introduced, "This is Mr. Richardson, the head of the Richardson family." Then he continued, "This is Jane Watkins."

"Mr. Richardson, hello, I'am very pleased to meet you!" Jane greeted earnestly to show her respect.

"Ms. Watkins, you can call me Ainslee." Ainslee smiled kindly and shook hands with Jane.

Richard's lips curved slightly.

Although Ainslee had known Jane for a long time from Jovan, had seen her photos, and watched videos of her at previous events, he still played the role of a stranger quite convincingly.

When Jane first investigated what Ainslee was up to, she initially thought Ainslee would have a rough demeanor. Her expectations were completely overturned upon meeting him now.

Ainslee, whether in appearance, temperament, or behavior, was very refined, entirely like an academic in a lab coat conducting experiments in a laboratory.

If anyone looked like a thug, it was Jane's ex-boyfriend Anthony and her brother Jovan who seemed more like the bad guys.

Jane skillfully chatted with Ainslee for a few moments, striking the perfect balance to make the interaction very comfortable.

Ainslee suddenly looked behind Jane and asked, "Ms. Watkins, do you know that person over there?"

Jane then noticed that Anthony had followed her out and was standing not far away, staring directly at her.

Anthony still had that look, as if witnessing his wife cheating on him in real-time.

"He's my employer." Jane quickly assigned a new identity to herself and Anthony, smiling as she introduced. "His name is Anthony Clark. I wonder if Mr. Richardson knows him."

"I do." Ainslee exchanged a meaningful glance with Anthony.

He was the man who had put Joker in the ICU for two years, so how could Ainslee not know him?

Anthony walked over. Without a word, he put his arm around Jane's shoulder, greeting Richard and Ainslee unhurriedly, "Mr. Foster, Mr. Richardson, I've heard a lot about you."

Jane's eyes discreetly moved between the three men.

She could somewhat understand the tension between Anthony and Richard, but why did she feel there was also a strange atmosphere between Anthony and Ainslee?

"Ms. Watkins, if you're free this afternoon, how about we do some shooting?" Ainslee broke the awkward silence.

"She doesn't play."

"Sure!"

Anthony and Jane's voices rang out simultaneously.

Anthony and Jane exchanged a glance, each surprised by the other's response.

"Mr. Clark, Ms. Watkins just said you're merely her employer. You have no right to restrict her freedom," Richard said with a smile.

Anthony looked at Jane, seemingly saying, "I am your Employer?"

Jane blinked with guilt and retorted, "Didn't you transfer me $1500 as an employment fee?"

After a few seconds, Anthony finally remembered the $1500 he had casually transferred to Jane because of something she said that day, almost laughing in anger.

Ainslee, never one to miss an opportunity to stir the pot, said, "Is it $1500? To be honest, even if it is $1500, the employment fee is far too low for Ms. Watkins."
