Chapter 646 I'm Still a Baby
“Arthur, I don’t know why you’re looking for me again, but our relationship concluded that year when our agreed time together ended. It was simply a contract."
"Do you believe you can end things on your whim?" As long as he was not ready to let go, this matter would not end.
Flora assumed it had something to do with Tina’s birth. “I… I didn’t expect to get pregnant at that time. If you weren’t so possessive of her now, I wouldn't need to take such drastic measures today. But given your position, you’ll likely overcome this minor setback effortlessly. From this point forward, Tina will solely be my daughter; she won’t affect your future marriage or your inheritance..."
"Flora!" Arthur interrupted her sharply, his anger palpable. He really was helpless against this woman!
Flora looked at him calmly, unaffected by his anger. She also wondered why he was so angry.
"Leave," he said abruptly.
Flora took a moment to react.
"You want to leave, right? I'm giving you five seconds to vanish from my view, or you'll regret it!"
Arthur’s tone was deep and menacing.
"You’re crazy!"
Flora Lee pushed him away, opened the emergency exit, and left. Upon leaving, she noticed several onlookers—aware that Arthur had brought her inside, staring at her.
Although his assistant had kept everyone at bay, they still noticed her.
"What a performance, Wine! You were outstanding today!"
"Indeed!"
The crowd masked their curiosity with awkward praise.
Flora acknowledged them briefly, acting as if the confrontation had not occurred. She exchanged pleasantries and rejoined the event. Tonight, she was the highlight, not the subject of rumors. The sheer amount of work was enough to keep her busy.
As Flora left, the onlookers sighed in relief, ready to gossip until the emergency exit swung open again.
Arthur stepped out, visibly upset. Typically, the model of grace and decorum, it was not difficult for everyone to guess he was in a foul mood based on his expression.
The crowd hesitated, knowing Arthur’s generally affable nature did not mean he was to be underestimated.
When Arthur ignored them and left directly, a sigh of relief was heard.
The crowd dispersed, avoiding open gossip, intending to do so after the party ended.
…
Oliver had planned to take Tina and Natalie back to Rosewood Estate, but Natalie decided to bring the child to Maple Villa instead.
After a quiet ride, Tina fell asleep again. Upon arrival, as Natalie moved to lift her from the car, Oliver took over.
Tina, barely awake, looked up at Oliver, confusedly murmuring, "Daddy?"
"No, I’m not your daddy," Oliver replied, his patience thinning. The child had monopolized his wife’s attention and now mistaken him for her father.
Tina turned toward Natalie and reached out. "Natalie!"
Natalie smiled, extending her arms, but before Tina could settle into her welcoming embrace, Oliver carried her away, refusing to let Natalie hold her.
"Natalie!" Tina extended her hand, reluctant to part.
Natalie bade goodbye to Charles and, with a laugh, followed them.
Oliver gently patted his niece, stating, "You're sleeping alone tonight."
Tina tilted her head and looked at Oliver before asking in a soft and puzzled voice, "Why?"
"Because you’re grown up now. Also, Natalie is my wife; she’ll sleep with me.”
“I haven’t grown up! I’m still a baby!” Tina said empathically.
"Says who?" Oliver challenged, "Babies are those who can’t talk, walk, or eat independently. You can do all those things!”
"That is because I’m smart!" Tina said proudly, puffing up her chest.
"Don’t you want Natalie and me to give you a little sister to play with?”
Oliver attempted a different angle.
Tina shook her head. “I want a brother!”
A brother she could tease without feeling guilty.
Oliver’s expression darkened. "Keep dreaming."
"What are you guys talking about?" Natalie joined them at the conversation’s end.
Tina looked apprehensively between Natalie and Oliver but did not say anything.
As Natalie proceeded to unlock the front door, Tina, cozy in Oliver's hold, whispered, "Oliver, I’ll be good. You and Natalie can give me a little brother!”
"Oliver, what have you been telling her?!" Natalie glared at him, visibly annoyed.
Oliver found himself without words.
…
Natalie’s apartment comprised two bedrooms, a living room, and a modest study. The guest bedroom, originally prepared for unforeseen guests like Lucas, had been decorated with pink linens for the young guest now staying.
"Natalie, can you sleep with me tonight?"
After bathing, Tina lingered near the window, watching Natalie arrange the bed. Before Natalie could respond, she hurried to Natalie, holding Natalie’s legs.
"Can you sleep with me? I’m scared.”
Who could resist such a heartfelt request?
Natalie agreed. “Of course.”
Tina’s laughter was filled with joy, her eyes shimmering with happiness. Amidst her delight, she did not forget her stoic uncle at the doorway. She said magnanimously, her small fingers enumerating the number three, “The three of us, together!”
Oliver stood silently. He was not going to share a bed with his niece and his wife!
…
Natalie, worn from consecutive days of work, fell asleep alongside Tina. She dreamed that she was flying high above the ground when she gradually awakened. As soon as she opened her eyes, she discovered she was back in her own bed.
After placing her in bed, Oliver, seeing that she was awake, smiled in satisfaction, leaned forward, and kissed her.
Natalie, finding herself unable to push him away, turned her face aside, pointing anxiously at the wall.
