Chapter 270 Mrs. Windsor is Looking for Your Husband
Natalie had dedicated all her energy to looking after her young brother, whom Oliver viewed as troublesome. Oliver also knew it would be safer for Lucas the fewer people knew about his identity.
"As for admitting it to you, my intention is to caution you that my sister isn’t someone to be taken lightly, unlike the useless Watson family. Although I may not have the power and authority of the chairman of the RK Group, I don’t lack money. I have considerable strength. If you mistreat my sister or betray her, I won’t let you off!"
Lucas's statement and warning were clear. This declaration indirectly affirmed that he had come to accept Oliver as his brother-in-law. At this juncture, what could he do even if he felt unwilling? His sister would not leave and continue to worry about Oliver! Moreover, following the previous event, even he, who had never been in a relationship, could tell she had feelings for Oliver. If she liked Oliver, he could only accept it.
Oliver slightly smiled, reminiscing about the past. He remembered warning Arthur not to betray Susan. At that time, Arthur had told him that he did not have feelings for Susan.
To some extent, the Oliver of the past mirrored the current Lucas, both passionately desiring to protect someone.
However, Oliver was different from Arthur. Arthur had his own desire, and he was willing to abandon his family and go against them for a woman named Flora.
Oliver, on the other hand, would not do that.
"Don’t worry. You won’t have a chance to do anything.”
"That would be for the best!" Lucas retorted threateningly.
Oliver patted Lucas’ shoulder and said, "As your brother-in-law, let me give you a piece of advice. In order to protect someone, you need to have sufficient strength.”
"Am I not strong enough?" Lucas felt his pride injured. He could not accept Oliver's doubt.
Being a central figure in 'Well' and an unseen millionaire at the age of 16, he acknowledged that he might not match Oliver at present, but the future remained uncertain!
"I’m not questioning your intelligence but your physical capability," Oliver clarified before shifting the conversation, "I appreciate your assistance with Lilian"
Young people often required encouragement.
Lucas felt somewhat disheartened. He was acutely aware that his health had always been a significant concern. Leukemia treatment was not a definitive cure, and a matching bone marrow donor needed to be located urgently.
…
The turmoil stirred by the three families gradually diminished, and public interest shifted toward a celebrity couple's impending divorce due to the husband's infidelity.
Natalie's life resumed its normal course. She had recently completed a photo shoot for the spring collection of a globally recognized brand and was en route to a winter fashion event.
At the Fashion Week's grand showcase, Natalie was the only model not among the top.
The models had started their preparations early—applying makeup, finalizing their appearances, and rehearsing their walks. However, Natalie's entry momentarily quieted the bustling atmosphere.
Pretending to be oblivious to the abnormal silence, Natalie approached the staff to collect her outfits, have her makeup done, and finalize her look.
The models whispered among themselves.
"Is that Natalie?"
"Yes! I was wondering why Emily would sign an inexperienced model, and now, I finally have the answer. It’s all thanks to Oliver!”
"It appears we’re at a disadvantage because we are single. We’re not like others who married well. Those people don’t need talent to succeed.”
"The more I think about it, the more unfair it feels. We worked hard for so many years to make it to the top and earn the right to participate in such a prestigious show. However, she accomplished this in less than half a year!”
"Don’t worry. Oliver is probably just having fun with her; he can’t be serious. Just wait and see. Once he grows tired of her, she’ll be kicked out of the elite circle!”
"Natalie, these people are spouting nonsense! Aren’t you angry?” Lilian asked indignantly.
Natalie could not help but chuckle. She deliberately asked, “Didn’t you also suspect that I was only with Oliver for his power, status, and wealth?”
Lilian found herself at a loss for words, feeling somewhat embarrassed. She awkwardly looked away. As Natalie’s assistant and ‘former fan’, she was aware of Natalie’s talent and dedication.
Out of the blue, a silver-haired model approached and addressed the hairstylist working on Natalie's look.
"Hello, I’m the lead model for today. We’re experiencing a shortage of hairstylists. Can you help me instead? I’m sorry, Natalie, but you’ll be positioned in the middle of the runway, which isn’t as prominent. I need the hairstylist for now. Besides, you’re Mrs. Windsor. You can simply ask your husband for help, unlike us ordinary folks who must fend for ourselves."
"Hey!" Lilian exclaimed, incensed.
Natalie held Lilian back, advising, "Let it be. That person is a top model and the star of today's show. In this industry, those at the forefront indeed take precedence over the rest. However, I’ll soon surpass her."
Lilian bit her lip. ‘What’s this? Was I defending her?’
"But what about your hair?" Lilian asked worriedly.
The fashion industry was unforgiving - any flaws in the models' appearances could lead to the stylist facing criticism, regardless of the actual fault.
Scanning the room for an available stylist, Natalie surprisingly noticed someone in a corner. She tapped the person's shoulder.
"Hello, are you available? Can you style my hair? Oh, it's you?"
The young stylist looked up, hesitated briefly, then with a smile, said, "Miss Watson, it's a pleasure to see you again. I'm not sure if you remember me. My name is..."
"Vivian," Natalie interjected.
Vivian had been the stylist whom Adrian hired for Hailey during the autumn car exhibition.
With a gentle smile, Vivian offered, "I have some spare time. If you don’t mind, I'd be happy to style your hair."
"What is there to mind? The stylists have all undergone rigorous selection and training. It's not easy to secure a position," Natalie reassured her, "Moreover, I've witnessed your work firsthand. You’re very professional."
Vivian styled Natalie's hair in no time at all.
To Natalie's surprise, no other models approached Vivian for her services.
"You..." Natalie began, hesitating.
Vivian's smile carried a mix of bitterness and resignation as she said with a shrug, "My primary experience has been with individuals in the entertainment industry. Moreover, this is my first big show. It’s only natural that the models prefer more experienced stylists.”
"Is that how it is?" Lilian exclaimed, surprised.
Natalie chuckled. "That's perfect. It means I have you all to myself today!"
It was uncommon for models at major shows to have personal stylists due to logistical reasons. Having a stylist to oneself like Natalie was an incredible stroke of luck.
