Chapter 208 Mr. Windsor is not pleased
Wyatt chimed in, "Who told Victoria to try and kill Oliver? Moreover, these three sectors were initially taken from the Windsor Group and transferred to the Harrington Group. It’s only logical for Oliver to reclaim them. Nevertheless, it’d be best if the Harrington Group doesn’t collapse immediately. That would make things more interesting.”
"Similar to how an unfinished building attracts more attention than a simple lawn? You have a point!” Isaac laughed out loud.
Oliver remained silent, but a hint of satisfaction could be seen in his eyes.
After the Harrington Group suffered a heavy blow, Victoria would be left in a precarious position. However, Oliver did not think that was enough for what Victoria did to Natalie.
He knew Victoria would never be content with the crumbling Harrington Group and would set her ambitions on the Windsor Group. However, Edwin would never tolerate sharing control of the Windsor Group with anyone else. The stage was set for a clash between the two.
Oliver said, “Arrange for someone to discreetly monitor Edwin and Hailey. Protect the waiter who was involved with Hailey and keep the evidence.”
"Understood," Wyatt responded.
Edwin and Hailey were under the impression that the waiter had perished, but in reality, he had only been in a state of shock and had since recuperated from the danger.
"Oliver, why don’t you destroy the Windsor Group instead? Even if it’s your mother’s hard work, there’s no need to be so careful with it. You could also just reclaim it directly,” Isaac asked.
"I have other plans for it," Oliver stated. In fact, he planned to let his troublemaking brother take over the company. Once Arthur returned, he would be tasked with cleaning up the mess.
…
Oliver arrived back at Rosewood Estate well into the night. Previously, he would have chosen to stay overnight in the company and resume work the following day. However, now, the presence of a woman in the master bedroom of Rosewood Estate seemed to lure him back. Why would he sleep in the empty lounge alone when he could hug Natalie to sleep?
In an effort to avoid disturbing Natalie, Oliver opted to shower in a different room before making his way to the master bedroom.
Natalie was initially resting on her side. Given that it was autumn, her extremities were cold. Upon feeling Oliver's warmth, she instinctively moved closer, cuddling against him like a docile cat.
A smile formed on Oliver's lips as he gently kissed her cheek.
Natalie's peaceful slumber was interrupted, and she buried her face in his chest, playfully resisting his kisses in an endearingly adorable manner.
…
The following day, Natalie was rather anxious because she needed to take Lucas to school.
Lucas's belongings were minimal, consisting of just one 24-inch suitcase; the rest would be bought at a later date.
“Oliver, aren’t you curious about what’s in my luggage?” Lucas asked deliberately.
Oliver, still clad in his home attire and wearing a linen robe, said flatly, “I’m not curious.”
He knew that Lucas would not say anything that was pleasant.
Lucas chuckled. “Well, I’ll tell you anyway. My sister bought a lot of new clothes for me. Did she buy anything for you?”
Oliver narrowed his eyes. How had this little rascal become even more irritating after just a few days apart?
Fortunately, Lucas would soon be attending boarding school; otherwise, Oliver might have lost his temper and disciplined the boy.
Natalie descended from upstairs, selecting an additional hat for Lucas. She asked, “What are you guys talking about?”
“Oliver said that you’ll visit me often!” Lucas said with a cheeky grin.
Oliver clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Lucas, you should consider finding a girlfriend at school. Don’t trouble my wife all the time!”
"Oliver!” Natalie chided lightly as she hit his arm.
“Look, he’s really no good! I’m not even sure if he can look after you,” Lucas complained.
Natalie was about to scold Oliver again, but upon hearing Lucas, she realized the two were once again embroiled in their usual antics. There was never a moment's peace with the two of them!
"Enough, enough. Lucas, get in the car. The teachers at school are awaiting your arrival!"
"Wait," Oliver stated, his expression turning dark.
"Hmm?" Natalie was puzzled.
"I’m coming with you," Oliver declared.
Oliver did not expect that he would have to assume a parental role and send a ‘child’ off to school so soon.
…
After helping Lucas settle down, Natalie felt relieved, but Oliver’s mood seemed to darken further.
During the drive back to Rosewood Estate, Oliver asked, "Did you buy clothes for Lucas?"
"Yes, all of Lucas' autumn clothing is still at the Watson family's residence, and he has outgrown his old clothes," Natalie explained, "I used my own money for the purchase."
Oliver pursed his lips as he glanced at Natalie.
‘Do I care about the money? How much can the clothes cost? Have I told her not to use my money? Who told her to use her own money!’
The more Oliver thought about it, the more his irritation grew.
Under his scrutiny, Natalie felt unjustifiably guilty, despite knowing she had done nothing wrong. She asked patiently, “What’s wrong?”
"Nothing," Oliver responded, abruptly turning away, showing no interest in further discussion. Then, he said, "Jamie, take me to the company."
Natalie, exasperated by his capriciousness, rolled her eyes.
…
It was not until Oliver had left the vehicle and Jamie was driving her back to Rosewood Estate that Natalie asked, "Jamie, do you have any idea why Oliver is unhappy?"
After a brief hesitation, Jamie replied, "I believe he’s unhappy because you only bought clothing for Lucas and not for him."
Jamie thought to himself, ‘I advised you to buy him clothes previously, but you didn’t listen. Look at the consequences now…’
"What?" Natalie exclaimed, surprised. She felt she had high emotional intelligence, but she found it hard to decipher Oliver's unpredictable mood.
Only individuals like Jamie and Charles, who had spent years with Oliver, could interpret his subtle cues.
After a moment's contemplation, Natalie said, "Jamie, please take a detour through the commercial district."
"Of course!" Jamie responded enthusiastically.
…
Oliver's foul mood had cast dark clouds over the entire company, prompting Charles to call Jamie, expressing his grievances to Jamie, who could not help but laugh in response.
Following his laughter, Jamie approached Natalie and tentatively suggested, "Why don’t you consider delivering today's lunch to Oliver?"
Understanding Jamie's hint, Natalie agreed. She then made her way to the RK Group with the items she had purchased for Oliver.
Despite this not being her first or even second visit, Natalie remained impressed by the vast business empire Oliver had built.
This time, she used the VIP elevator, which was reserved exclusively for Oliver.
