Chapter 929 She Doesn't Lack Love
"Natalie, I really miss..." Helen was cut off by Natalie.
"Mrs. Hastings, I heard you were looking for me," Natalie said in a businesslike tone. "Just say what you need to say. We've known each other for so long, so let's skip the pleasantries, okay?"
Natalie was as usual, cold and indifferent as she always was to outsiders, which Helen could clearly see.
Helen looked at Natalie with a hurt expression, as if she had heard something unbelievable, "Pleasantries?"
"Mrs. Hastings, I have nothing to do with the Hastings family, and even less to do with you. We both agreed on this a long time ago."
"No, I didn't..." Helen instinctively wanted to deny it, but Natalie raised an eyebrow, filled with sarcasm and curiosity.
Helen stopped her words abruptly.
Helen remembered that she had indeed reached an agreement with Natalie. At that time, Helen was foolishly and wholeheartedly thinking about Isabella's daughter, Susan!
"Natalie, I was out of her mind back then, that wasn't my true intention. I never wanted to sever ties with you!" Helen said excitedly. "I carried you for ten months and gave birth to you. I am your mother by blood anyway. Legally, I am your mother. You can't just cut ties with me!"
Helen's eyes were filled with a crazed obsession as she looked at Natalie, as if she were a lifeline.
Helen once again hurriedly approached Natalie, trying to grab and hug her. Natalie frowned and stepped back, glancing at a nearby car. Immediately, two black-clad bodyguards rushed over, blocking Helen a meter away from Natalie.
"Natalie." Helen was deeply hurt. "You're guarding against me like this. I am your mother. I won't hurt you! Tell them to move aside!"
Helen pointed at the two bodyguards. "Move aside!"
The bodyguards didn't budge, not even blinking.
The bodyguards only listened to Natalie.
"Mrs. Hastings, do you believe what you have said yourself?" Natalie looked at Helen calmly. "If you have forgotten, I can remind you. To make Susan become Mrs. Windsor, you had me kidnapped and raped. I injured my leg, almost ending my career and my dreams. Susan destroyed my marriage and tried to kill me multiple times, yet you pressured me to forgive her in every possible way. Even after you knew I was your biological daughter, you still chose Susan, using the fact that you gave birth to me to pressure me to release Susan, a murderer, from prison. Even after Susan almost killed my entire family, you still pleaded for her."
Natalie continued, "Setting all that aside, you repeatedly mocked me in various situations and almost caused Nathan and me to die in an elevator. Mrs. Hastings, from beginning to end, you have never shown me even a bit of motherly affection, not even as much as a stranger."
Helen was more like an enemy.
With every word Natalie spoke, Helen grew paler.
Helen had never really thought about what she had done to Natalie. She knew she had treated Natalie poorly, but she always thought she could make up for it later. It turned out she had done so many wrong things.
Helen was momentarily at a loss, looking somewhat pitiful.
But Natalie couldn't muster any pity for Helen.
If Helen had only hurt Natalie, perhaps after Helen's repeated pleas, Natalie might have softened. However, Helen had almost taken Nathan's life, and Susan she protected had nearly killed their entire family!
"Mrs. Hastings, if you're trying to mend our relationship to gain some benefit for Susan, you can forget about it."
"I'm not!" Helen cried, shaking her head and choking on her words. "Natalie, I truly regret it. I was confused before, but I can change! Believe me, I will treat you well and love you very much."
Natalie thought, ‘Treat me well and love me?’
Natalie didn’t lack love now or need maternal love anymore.
In addition to Oliver, Natalie also had love from Nathan, Lucas, and Lilian. Natalie didn't lack love from the family.
"Mrs. Hastings, I don't know why your attitude towards me has changed so drastically, but I'm not interested in the reason." Seeing Helen about to explain, Natalie cut her off. "You chose Susan over me without hesitation back then. Now you want to pick me up again? Impossible. I'm not some backup item you can discard and retrieve at will."
"No, it's not like that." Helen suddenly realized that Natalie's gaze was like looking at a mere acquaintance, not even a familiar one.
Those beautiful almond-shaped eyes no longer held hidden expectations or sorrow.
Because the heart that could be hurt had long been shattered.
"Mrs. Hastings, is there anything else? If not, please leave the hospital." Natalie glanced at Helen's car. It seemed Helen had driven herself and didn't have a driver. In her current state, she wasn't fit to drive.
Natalie told one of the bodyguards, "Take Mrs. Hastings home safely and hand her over to her family."
Helen was suddenly ignited with hope. "Natalie, are you worried about me?"
"Worried that you might endanger innocent people on the road. If something happens to you, I would be further entangled with you."
"Mrs. Windsor, aren't you going back to Mr. Watson?" The bodyguard noticed that Natalie was not heading towards the hospital's inpatient department.
"Is Oliver at the company?" Natalie asked the bodyguard.
The bodyguard said, "One moment," then contacted his colleague. Soon, he replied to Natalie, "Yes, Mr. Windsor is at the company."
"Then let's go to the company."
It wasn't until she got into the car heading to the RisingKing Group that Natalie realized her sudden decision to see Oliver was impulsive and somewhat inexplicable.
Given Natalie's personality, she should have considered whether going to see Oliver so abruptly would interrupt his work.
But this time, Natalie went directly, without even asking if Oliver was in a meeting or if she would disturb him.
However, right now, Natalie just really wanted to see Oliver.
The bodyguards would notify each other. When Natalie visited the RisingKing Group, if Collin was available, he would come to meet her. If not, a secretary from the president's office would come.
The Rolls-Royce stopped in Oliver's exclusive parking area. Natalie saw a tall and upright figure standing outside.
