Chapter 800 Make You Cry
As night fell, a cold breeze swept through, bringing with it a gentle rain. The drizzle persisted as darkness enveloped the surroundings.
When the vehicle had arrived at the studio, the door was ajar despite the 'CLOSED' sign displayed prominently outside. 'CLOSED' clearly indicated that they were not open for regular business.
Oliver retrieved the large black umbrella from the car and held it over Natalie as they exited the vehicle.
Inside the store, the atmosphere was quiet, devoid of customers or staff, save for the middle-aged owner, Neil, who was engrossed in his phone at the counter. He looked up, startled by the sound of the door, but his expression turned into one of recognition.
"Miss Watson, we meet again!" Neil exclaimed, "But as you can see from the sign, we're closed. The place has been rented out."
As Neil spoke, his gaze shifted toward Oliver, his eyes reflecting a mixture of surprise and admiration.
'Look at this handsome guy! They make a great couple!' he thought to himself.
"It's me," Oliver interjected.
"What?" Neil looked confused.
Natalie quickly clarified, "Neil, he's the one who rented the place."
She introduced Oliver, saying, "He's my husband. We're here to make another DIY mug. We apologize for the inconvenience of making you work overtime."
Neil paused, taken aback, then curiosity sparked across his features. Clearly, he was eager to learn more.
"No problem at all! Please, come in," Neil said with a welcoming smile, giving Oliver a thorough once-over, "I thought this gentleman looked familiar. So, he's your husband."
"Do you know him?" Natalie inquired.
"Of course! I keep up with things online. There's been a lot of buzz about you two!" Neil boasted, his tone carrying a hint of pride as if to emphasize his knowledge about modern trends.
Natalie was momentarily speechless.
Neil retrieved a collection of half-finished pottery pieces from the back—mugs, coffee cups, plates, and a few small vases. Natalie had recently gifted a pair of mugs to Isaiah and Maddison, and among the items, a large vase stood out. However, finishing it would mean a very late night, so she opted for a plate instead.
"I want this one," Oliver said, setting down the plate Natalie had chosen and pointing to two nearly identical mugs beside it. These were different from the ones given to Isaiah and Maddison because they had lids.
"You want two?" Neil asked, slightly amused yet curious. Was it not a little greedy to ask for two at once?
Oliver had already planned his response. He explained, "One for you and one for me, just like Isaiah and Maddison."
Natalie had not yet reacted, but Neil understood. "You want couple's mugs, huh? Goodness, Miss Watson, weren't this morning's creations for your husband? You definitely need to have a set for yourselves so that every time you drink coffee, you'll think of each other. How wonderful!"
Natalie thought Neil was just making idle conversation to pass the time. She turned to Oliver and noticed he did not seem to object to the idea. Instead, he nodded in agreement with Neil's statement.
Natalie was surprised. She had not realized that Oliver, who was nearly 30, had so many thoughts.
After a moment, she began contemplating what design she should draw.
"I'll go pour you guys some water," Neil offered with a warm smile, tactfully giving them some space.
Once Neil had stepped away, Oliver playfully pinched Natalie's cheek, prompting her to look at him with a bashful expression.
"You’d better draw well. If your drawing is uglier than the one you gave Isaiah, be prepared to cry," he teased.
He was even threatening her now!
"Well, what design do you want? I learned oil painting, but I'm not very good at drawing cartoon designs," Natalie admitted. She could not replicate the cute couple designs she had admired online.
Oliver raised an eyebrow, seemingly unsatisfied as he asked, "When you drew for Isaiah earlier, did you get some help?"
"I did ask someone. Do you believe me?" she responded. She could not even lie with confidence in front of the sharp-witted Oliver.
Oliver gave her a look that seemed to say, 'I'd have to be stupid to believe that.'
Natalie sighed, thinking that Oliver could be so demanding at times. After a moment of thought, she finally started to sketch.
"Our couple's shirts?"
It might have been a coincidence or perhaps a bit of telepathy, but Oliver quickly grasped what she intended to draw.
"That’s the inspiration, but what I'm drawing is different. The design on the couple's shirts is someone else's intellectual property," she said.
As Natalie painted, her voice, usually reserved and cool, took on a sweet tone.
This stirred something in Oliver's heart. He felt an urge to pull her close for a kiss, but he resisted, knowing it would ruin the mugs. Instead, he decided to wait until she finished her artwork.
Natalie's inspiration stemmed from a set of couple's shirts, which she adapted to suit her painting style. The design was complex, and most people would opt for something simpler, but Natalie embraced the challenge.
Meanwhile, Neil had been gone unusually long under the guise of fetching water.
By the time he returned, Natalie was applying the final touches to her work. Neil was effusive in his praise, even musing about a potential collaboration with Natalie to produce finished porcelain products if he could afford it. Her painting technique, while not fully mature, displayed undeniable talent—a quality that many seek but few possess.
"Miss Watson, Mr. Windsor, may I take a picture and post it on Instagram?" Neil asked, his anticipation evident.
Natalie was about to decline when she heard Oliver reply, "It's up to you."
She turned to him in surprise.
'What did he just say? Did he just agree?'
Neil's jubilant reaction answered her question.
"Well, may I include Miss Watson's work in the photo with you?"
Neil seemed oblivious to the fact that the handsome man before him might have reservations, or perhaps he was adept at seizing opportunities.
Before Natalie could respond, Oliver said, "You can."
"Thank you!" Neil exclaimed, already capturing the moment with his camera.
Natalie kept her thoughts to herself, turning to study Oliver carefully.
"What?" he asked calmly.
"You said you didn't do it on purpose before!" Natalie exclaimed, realizing something crucial.
Oliver had always disliked being in the spotlight, and Natalie knew that with his intellect and strategic thinking, keeping out of the news was usually within his control. Yet, just days ago, their scandal had exploded, becoming known worldwide. This incident made her see that, if Oliver chose to, preventing such exposure was indeed effortless for him.
