Chapter 1158 The Whole Team Knows!

"Alright, alright! Get out! Less spicy is fine! Take your money and go!" The boss waved him off. "You young guys these days can't even chase a girl properly!"

Anthony thought, 'Why does this guy talk so much?'

When Anthony got back to the table, Jane had written a new menu. It listed how many lambs to roast, the flavors, and how they should be packaged and delivered to their hotel that evening.

Judging by the amount, it was clear the whole documentary crew was included. Jane made sure everyone got a share, but only her studio folks had specific preferences.

She was always on top of things and rarely made mistakes. That's why everyone liked Jane.

When the roasted lamb arrived, Jane handed her handwritten menu to the owner and paid upfront.

"Try it; see if it's spicy enough," the owner said, pocketing the menu.

Jane took a bite. The lamb was tender, not gamey, and perfectly roasted.

"Tasty," Jane said, "but it doesn't seem spicy enough. Maybe I'm just used to spicier food."

The owner had been waiting for this. He glanced at Anthony and said to Jane, "Your friend came to the kitchen and asked me to make it less spicy."

Anthony thought, 'If you can't say anything nice, just zip it!'

Jane looked at Anthony, puzzled. "Did you do that earlier?"

Anthony couldn't hide it. "Jane, your body isn't used to the dry weather here yet. You shouldn't eat overly spicy food."

Even before, Anthony wouldn't let Jane eat very spicy food because it wasn't good for her stomach.

The owner, done with his daily gossip, saw that Jane and Anthony had no more requests and went back to the kitchen, humming a local tune.

Since yesterday, Jane had been unsure how to deal with Anthony.

But Anthony's actions today made her have to face it.

"Anthony," Jane put down the knife she was using to carve the lamb, wiping her hands with a wet napkin as she gathered her thoughts.

Anthony also put down what he was holding and looked at Jane silently, waiting for her to speak.

"Anthony, I don't hold any grudges against you, but our past feels like a long struggle and growth that's hard to forget."

Anthony said, "Jane, I've said it before, this is a fresh start. Forget the past, okay?"

"But what if this new beginning leads nowhere?" Jane looked into Anthony's eyes. "Anthony, I'm scared. I feel like I've lost my passion for love and the courage to accept being loved. When it comes to emotions, I'm exhausted. Even if we start anew, it might not end the way you want."

"I don't need an outcome, Jane. Just give me a chance." Anthony paused and then added, "You can consider me a friend."

How could she see someone who liked her and was always watching her as just a friend?

Jane thought Anthony was dreaming, but she couldn't argue with him.

Deep down, she didn't dislike Anthony.

Rejecting him now was because she felt she couldn't give him what he wanted.

But Jane also knew one thing: Anthony wouldn't let go just because she said no.

Sometimes, taking a step back could be a good strategy.

They had filming tasks in the afternoon, so they didn't linger and returned to the hotel.

Jane led her team out and told them in the car that the roasted lamb would arrive in the evening.

"You don't seem very excited about the roast lamb?" Jane noticed their lack of enthusiasm. "It's really good, better than any I've had in Paykston."

"Jane, do you think the lamb was good because you were in a good mood?" Lester asked, encouraged by the others.

"What do you mean?"

"Did you eat the lamb with Mr. Clark?" another employee chimed in. "People feel differently about the same food at different times. It's a psychological effect. With Mr. Clark there, you were in a good mood, so the lamb tasted better."

The others eagerly agreed, "Exactly!"

Jane realized they just wanted to gossip about her.

"Then none of you get to eat the lamb tonight!" she said.

"Come on, Jane! We're just concerned about you!" They weren't afraid of Jane, their easygoing boss, as long as it wasn't about work.

"Yeah, Jane, it's not just us guessing. The whole photography team knows Mr. Clark came to see you. Everyone's talking about it!"

"Maybe not just the photography team, but also the model team, the planning team, the logistics team—everyone knows."

'The entire crew, over a hundred people, all know? Are these people so idle? Don't they have work to do?' Jane thought.

Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
