Chapter 1171 Wanting You
Anthony froze for a moment when he saw Jane's call. It was the first time she'd called since leaving the desert.
"Mr. Clark? What's up?" Clint asked, noticing Anthony's sudden stop.
Anthony snapped back, heart racing. He felt like a kid, excited over a call from Jane. It was almost funny.
"Jane," he answered.
Clint's eyes lit up with curiosity but he stayed quiet.
"Anthony, I need your help. Got time?"
"Yes," he replied instantly. "What do you need?"
He hung up and headed straight to the garage.
"Mr. Clark, where are you going? The board's waiting upstairs," Clint asked, confused.
"The airport," Anthony said, not slowing down. "Clint, purchase the soonest available flights to Paykston for both of us. Have personnel in Paykston and its surrounding cities stand by."
"What's going on?" Clint wondered aloud. "Is Ms. Watkins in trouble..."
Anthony shot him a deadly glare. "Shut up! If you can't speak properly, don't bother!"
Clint felt wronged. He was just asking. What else could make Anthony skip a board meeting other than Jane?
It started pouring in Paykston. Planes were circling, unable to land.
Jane got to the airport early to wait for Anthony, but kept getting delay notifications.
Rainy days were risky for flights.
Anthony, with a first-class ticket and no luggage, was among the first to disembark.
He saw Jane by a pillar, checking her phone and the arrival board. Was she worried about him?
The screen finally showed his flight had arrived. Jane stood up straight.
"Jane!" Anthony called out.
Jane turned, and Anthony walked over quickly, Clint trailing behind.
'Why do I feel like Clint's face lit up with the joy of a father seeing his long-single son find love at last.' Jane was startled by her own thoughts.
"What happened? How did Tina go missing?" Anthony asked. "I need to coordinate with Oliver and Arthur's people to speed up the search."
Jane had briefed Anthony before he boarded. Flora and Arthur's daughter Tina was missing. He'd arranged a search immediately, but it took over four hours to get from Southvale to Paykston, and things kept changing.
"Let's go to Arthur's house. They're all there," Jane said, leading them outside.
The rain had eased when the plane landed but was pouring again now.
They quickly got into the waiting car.
Clint started coordinating with others, while Anthony studied satellite maps on his tablet.
"Anthony, thank you," Jane said, looking at the rain.
Anthony looked up. "Every time you contact me lately, it's for help."
Jane had been thinking of how to thank him, but his words caught her off guard. She looked at him, annoyed.
She knew she'd been asking for help a lot, but did he have to say it like that? Was he hinting at a reward? How shameless.
"How are you going to thank me this time?" Anthony asked, "Another meal?"
Jane, who had planned to treat him to a meal, was speechless.
Anthony marked several points on the map and looked at Jane with deep, intense eyes.
Jane felt a bit flustered.
"Jane, you know, besides a partner, I'm not picky about other things," Anthony said. "I'm not that interested in meals."
Jane loved good food, but Anthony's words made her breathing light.
If it were someone else, she might have asked what he wanted as a reward. But with Anthony, she didn't dare.
Because she knew if she asked, Anthony would say, "You."
He wanted Jane. Always had.
