Chapter 1080 The Wedding
Anthony said, "Don't even think about it." In the entire Southside, there really wasn't a hospital that dared to perform an abortion for Jane.
Anthony kept sending Jane various gifts, trying to cheer her up, but all his attempts failed.
Two days later.
In the afternoon, a servant came in from outside, holding a delicate gift box. The box, in a pink and white color scheme, exuded a romantic vibe.
"Ms. Watkins, there's an invitation for you," the servant said.
The news that Jane was staying at Emerald Gardens was already known to many, but only a few dared to send her an invitation. Most of them were the top wealthy ladies of Emerald Gardens, but Jane had refused them all.
Being pregnant and staying at Emerald Gardens wasn't exactly glorious, though many people thought it was an immense honor to be carrying Anthony's child, especially since Anthony was still single.
Jane was somewhat curious about who would send her an invitation.
[Wedding Invitation]
[Groom: Hubert]
[Bride: Aurora]
From the format and content of the invitation, it was clear that Aurora had sent it to her, specifically inviting Jane to attend her wedding.
Jane thought her relationship with Aurora wasn't close enough to warrant an invitation to Aurora's wedding. This wedding invitation felt more like a provocation.
But Jane didn't understand; she didn't even like Hubert, so what was Aurora trying to provoke?
Was she supposed to be jealous that Aurora was marrying someone as unremarkable as Hubert?
"Ms. Watkins, what's wrong?" The servant asked with concern, seeing Jane's troubled expression.
Jane was unsure what to do and asked the maid beside her, "If your ex-boyfriend's ex-girlfriend invited you to her wedding, what would you think?"
The maid started silently calculating the relationships.
Jane's ex-boyfriend's ex-girlfriend was Aurora, wasn't it?
The news of Aurora's upcoming marriage to Hubert was no secret; everyone in their circle knew.
"Never mind, forget it." Jane thought the maid probably wouldn't dare to say much about such a question.
"Ms. Watkins, should I decline the invitation for you?"
"No need for now," Jane said.
If she declined directly, rumors might spread the next day that Jane was afraid of Aurora.
Jane rarely cared about what others said about her, but anything related to Aurora was an exception. That woman disgusted her so much that she didn't want Aurora to gain any advantage, either in reality or verbally.
When Anthony returned to Emerald Gardens, he saw the invitation on the table.
He initially thought it was his invitation. As Hubert's cousin, regardless of the relationship between their fathers, he should receive an invitation.
It wasn't until he opened the invitation that he realized it was from the bride's side, inviting Jane.
Jane came downstairs and saw Anthony looking at the invitation with a dark and stormy expression, as if he was about to tear it to pieces.
"Jane, you don't need to pay attention to her," Anthony said, throwing the invitation into the trash can.
Jane felt the need to remind him, "Anthony, you just threw away my stuff."
"Are you really going to Aurora and Hubert's wedding?" Anthony asked, looking certain that Jane wouldn't go.
"Why wouldn't I go?" Jane paused, then guessed, "You don't want to go. You don't want to see your ex-fiancée marry your cousin."
She could understand that.
"Jane, you don't think I still have feelings for Aurora, do you?" Anthony found it absurd. He had heard that pregnancy could make women silly, but he didn't expect Jane to be like that.
Jane didn't walk over but sat down in a nearby chair.
She thought to herself, 'How would I know if you still have feelings for Aurora? I'm not you.'
If he didn't have feelings, how did Aurora become his fiancée? When she was staying at the Clark family, how could Aurora have caused her so much trouble so easily?
"Jane, I'm not blind!" Anthony was exasperated. Even if he were blind, he wouldn't be interested in a woman like Aurora.
Jane looked at him with an inexplicable expression, thinking, 'I know you're not blind; your eyes are wide open.'
"I want to go to this wedding," Jane said. Since her actions were restricted by Anthony, she had to inform him in advance if she wanted to attend the wedding.
Since Aurora had invited her, she wanted to see what Aurora was up to.
If she didn't go this time, Aurora would find other opportunities to invite her again.
The thought of it made Jane feel annoyed.
Anthony looked at Jane in surprise. He had thought she would refuse without hesitation.
"Alright. Let's go," Anthony said, then gestured for Jane to come over. "Come here."
Jane looked at him coldly, resting her chin on her hand, unmoving.
Anthony chuckled helplessly, sighed, and walked over to her.
He stood in front of Jane, knelt on one knee, and placed his broad hand on Jane's lower abdomen.
Jane felt his movement and instinctively wanted to dodge, but sitting in the chair, she had no way to avoid him.
"Don't move." Anthony placed his other hand on Jane's waist. Feeling her lower abdomen, he asked in confusion, "The doctor said there would be changes after three months. Why is your belly still flat?"
Jane was a bit dazed. She had never paid attention to pregnancy issues, and Anthony's sudden touch made her feel a bit flustered.
After a few seconds, she calmed down.
"Maybe there's nothing inside, just a false pregnancy."
"Stop talking nonsense." Anthony pinched Jane's cheek as a punishment. "If our child ends up like you, spouting nonsense, what then?"
Jane had had intimate moments with Anthony before, but discussing the baby while he touched her belly was a first.
Jane felt uncomfortable. Just a few days ago, she had been talking to Anthony about getting an abortion.
Jane suddenly wondered if the baby inside her would feel sad if it knew its mother didn't want it.
Probably, right?
She had promised to let it come into this world.
Because he was worried about the lack of visible changes in her belly, Anthony called a private obstetrician to check on her.
The doctor, thinking it was a serious issue, felt quite helpless after understanding the situation. "The uterus starts to enlarge noticeably after three months, but the belly's curve might not be obvious. For some, it takes four or five months to show significant changes."
Jane felt a wave of embarrassment and suddenly thought it was necessary to brush up on her pregnancy knowledge, at least to avoid such awkward moments in the future.
After making this decision, she was horrified to realize that she had unconsciously dismissed the idea of getting rid of the baby.
