Chapter 194 You go out, I'll wash by myself

Natalie heaved a huge sigh of relief. She tidied up her clothes as she said with a hint of uncertainty, “You’re the best?”

Oliver responded with a shake of his head.

"I want to take a bath?” Natalie asked again.

Yet again, Oliver shook his head.

Natalie thought about all the words she had said earlier and the way she addressed him before she asked, “Oliver?”

Oliver found Natalie extremely adorable as she continued to guess He kissed her lightly and said, “No…”

“Darling husband?”

Before Natalie could reply, Oliver lifted her in his arms and strode towards the bathroom as he said, “You finally got it right.”

"I can bathe on my own,” Natalie protested, trying to push him away with an outstretched hand.

Undeterred, Oliver prepared the bath and stepped into the oversized bathtub, which was large enough for four or five people, saying, “Let’s bathe together!”

With this, the night promised to be long.

Meanwhile, at the ballroom.

Hailey had chosen to wear a one-shoulder fishtail gown, complemented by subtle makeup and her hair styled with meticulous attention to detail.

Despite her preference for flowy dresses and bolder makeup, which she believed matched the ballroom's ambiance better, Hailey opted for this attire. She was aware that Natalie, who previously accompanied Oliver to such events, favored fitted fishtail gowns and light makeup, leading Hailey to surmise that this was Oliver's preferred style.

Hailey's attendance was motivated by the hope of encountering Oliver, but to her dismay, he was nowhere to be seen.

Not only that, but her choice of a fishtail gown proved impractical for dancing, which left her sidelined as Adrian invited other single ladies to dance.

Despite their engagement, to people in their circle, one was still single as long as one remained unmarried. With Adrian’s wealth and background, he was unsurprisingly a coveted dance partner.

Hailey felt awkward and angry as she stood on the sidelines. She was so angry that her anger was palpable. However, she still forced a smile on her face as she watched Adrian’s dance partners cling to him intimately.

However, when she could no longer hold back her anger, she quickly retreated to the restroom to calm down, unwilling to show the others her emotions.

Unexpectedly, just as she was about to leave the bathroom, she heard a group of ladies gossiping.

"Did you hear? Adrian still has feelings for Natalie!"

“Are you sure? Perhaps that’s just a thing of the past…”

“I don’t think Adrian cares about Hailey at all. Otherwise, why would he be dancing so intimately with those women?”

“In the past, I heard that Natalie intervened in Adrian and Hailey’s relationship. At that time, Natalie denied it, but no one believed her. However, it seems like she was telling the truth.”

Someone laughed. “It’s so obvious to me that Adrian still has his eyes on Natalie!”

“Hailey isn’t a good person. Where do you think those rumors about Natalie came from? My friend from Sense University told me that it was actually Hailey who interfered in the relationship between Adrian and Natalie!”

Hailey was enraged, and she stormed out in her high heels.

The ladies were startled by Hailey’s sudden appearance. They did not expect the object of their discussion would overhear them.

One of the ladies remained unfazed. She smiled naturally and said, “Hailey, you’re here too? I’m sorry. You weren’t supposed to hear that.”

Hailey sneered. “Adrian didn’t ask me to dance because my dress makes it inconvenient to dance. As for Natalie, how do you know for sure she didn’t interfere in someone else’s relationship?”

The lady could not be bothered to talk with Hailey and only replied dismissively.

The conversation ended without further confrontation, Hailey's departure marked by the sharp sound of her heels, a testament to her seething anger.

‘This shouldn’t be happening! Why did my life turn out like this?! Why is Natalie living a better life than me? I should be the one with the best life!’

The more she thought about it, the more convinced she was that she was in this predicament because Natalie married Oliver, who was originally meant for her. On the other hand, she ended up with that scumbag, Adrian.

‘This shouldn’t have happened! This is all a mistake! I have to correct my mistakes!’

Natalie awoke the following morning to find herself feeling extremely sore after last night’s intense activities.

The sunlight streamed into the room, indicating that it was already late in the morning.

Oliver lay next to her with his eyes open. Unlike usual, he did not pretend to be sleeping.

Their bodies were pressed together under the covers.

The bedroom door was ajar, allowing the strains of dance music from the phonograph in the living room to drift in.

The Blue Danube filled the air, a piece that had played repeatedly throughout the night.

Oliver's intense gaze caused Natalie to flush. She reached for her clothes, only to remember that she had not put on her clothes after coming out of the bathroom last night. She turned to Oliver eagerly and asked, “Can you help me get my clothes?”

The idea of walking to the wardrobe without any clothes was far less appealing to her than the thought of Oliver doing the same.

Typically, Oliver would not hesitate to help her with her clothing, often dressing her himself. Yet, this time, he simply rested a hand behind his head and said, “What do you call me?”

Natalie pondered what he meant, quickly deducing his meaning. She knew it was a term that he had made her repeat countless times last night.

“Darling, can you please help me get my clothes?”

The words seemed to ignite Oliver’s desire. He tightened his hold around her and began to kiss her passionately.

“Oliver!” Natalie protested.

Oliver paused. Then, he pecked her lips lightly before pulling away. After all, he knew she was still exhausted from yesterday’s intense activities.

By the time the couple was done washing up and getting ready for the day, it was nearing 11 AM.

Natalie decided to make pasta and grilled mushrooms for brunch.

Since she was still tired, she did not plan to participate in any social activities that afternoon. Instead, she decided to go outside for a walk to get some fresh air.

Unexpectedly, the hope for the quiet day she desired shattered not long after she walked out. She saw two tall figures sitting on the sofa in the corridor.
