Chapter 169 Brother-in-law vs. Brother-in-law

Oliver could not fully describe the feelings in his heart. He felt suffocated and jealousy fermented within him. Countless tiny needles, dipped in venom, seemed to be pricking him relentlessly, leaving him gasping for air. Thousands of words were trapped in his throat, not a single one could escape.

"If you don’t release him, how can I save him? I’m not a doctor, how can I save him?”

Upon hearing Oliver’s words, Charles instructed two guards to support Lucas.

At this point, the guards were so terrified that they could not utter a single word. They had no idea that the young man was the young madam’s younger brother. Most importantly, they did not recognize the young madam earlier, due to the rain and darkness. They thought she had gone out for a competition and had no idea why she was back.

Meanwhile, Natalie breathed a sigh of relief and collapsed into Oliver's arms, utterly spent.

Oliver placed her in the car and instructed the driver to return to the main house.

"Lucas…" Natalie was still worried about her brother.

"He is in the car behind! We won’t lose him!" Oliver was torn between heartache and irritation, filled with the urge to simply leave Lucas behind.

With this, Natalie found some respite and lost consciousness within moments.

"Natalie!" Oliver anxiously called her name multiple times, but the woman in his arms remained unresponsive. Her feverish temperature was alarming, causing his heart to constrict. He frowned fiercely as he urged the driver to speed up.

Fortunately, the security personnel at Rosewood Estate were professionally trained to handle troublemakers without inflicting severe harm.

Both siblings only sustained only minor injuries.

Lucas's condition was not too severe, and he quickly regained consciousness after receiving prompt medical attention. Conversely, Natalie developed a high fever.

Lucas was placed in a guest room, while Natalie lay in the master bedroom, connected to an IV drip. Oliver remained at her side, his countenance frigid and serious.

"Young Master, Mr. Watson has awakened and wishes to see the young madam," Liam entered the room and said, “Apart from that, Miss Jane is here as well. The guards want to know if they should let her in.”

"Tell them all to leave!" Oliver replied icily. In his opinion, Lucas was the reason Natalie got injured.

Liam was aware that Oliver was and had an extreme disposition, showing no sympathy or mercy toward matters or individuals he did not care about. At present, this applied to Lucas and Jane.

Liam advised sincerely, “Young Master, you have to consider that Mr. Watson is the young madam’s brother, and she cares greatly about him. It’ll be beneficial for you to treat him politely. Miss Jane is also the young madam’s best friend, and their relationship is exceptionally good. Moreover, her presence here also shows concern for the young madam. Having another person who treats the young madam sincerely can only be advantageous, don't you agree?"

Oliver frowned. "Are you suggesting that I should be closer to them?"

Liam replied smoothly, "It’s not about that. In fact, this kind of interaction is common among families.”

Oliver had never been very good at socialization after all.

In the end, Oliver did not refuse.

Liam understood that Oliver had acquiesced, so he arranged for Lucas to wait outside for a moment before arranging for a servant to welcome Jane inside.

Oliver cast a glance at the woman on the bed, still pale and feverish. Even unconscious, she seemed to still be worried about her younger brother.

After some time, Oliver exited the room, his expression devoid of emotion. He saw a bald young man wrapped in bandages clamoring to see Natalie immediately.

Lucas had lost his hair due to chemotherapy and had decided to shave his head. He had rushed over today without a hat, but his lack of hair did not detract from his beauty.

"Aren't you my sister's boss?" Lucas was taken aback, quickly noticing the servants' deferential treatment of Oliver. He was not naive and soon suspicion formed in his head. However, he found it difficult to believe.

Oliver regarded Lucas with disdain, as though Lucas was a fool. "You should address me as ‘brother-in-law’."

Although Lucas was unaware of Oliver’s identity, Oliver wondered if someone with such low intelligence truly merited Natalie's protection.

Lucas narrowed his eyes slightly.

With a single glance, Oliver sensed the intense hostility emanating from the young man.

"Oliver?" Lucas carefully examined from head to toe, searching for flaws. He did not hide himself, exuding a commanding and domineering aura.

However, Lucas’ aura was a little lacking compared to Oliver’s king-like aura.

"Call me brother-in-law," Oliver said, lighting a cigarette as he looked at Lucas.

Lucas chuckled, unfazed and fearless. "Mr. Windsor, have you forgotten? I have certain standards for my sister's husband. Besides this face, what makes you worthy of her?"

Lucas had heard the rumors of Oliver’s disfigurement before. Unexpectedly, the other party was so handsome.

Oliver cast a sidelong glance at Liam. "Is this what you call family communication?"

Even someone as eloquent as Liam felt a touch of awkwardness at this moment. The young man had initially seemed gentle, his temper seemed to be as bad as that of Oliver.

"Escort him out!" Oliver commanded. He found Lucas thoroughly irritating.

"Mr. Watson, the young madam is still unconscious and unwell. Please be civilized.”

Liam intervened between the two fiery individuals.

"Young Master, you’re now married to the young madam. Avoiding communication with Mr. Watson won't solve anything. If there have been any misunderstandings between you in the past, it's better to resolve them sooner."

‘Misunderstandings? What misunderstandings? There’s no misunderstanding!’

After six months of chemotherapy, Lucas's body had weakened, making him powerless against the burly male servants restraining him. He knew he was on Oliver's turf now, and his sole advantage, his intelligence, was useless in this situation.

Lucas deeply regretted not bringing a gun with him, so he could shoot these people in the head.

Before the servants could escort Lucas away…

“Young Master, Miss Jane is here.”

When Jane arrived, she saw Lucas being carried away by the servants. She called out anxiously, “Lucas! Let him go!”

The servants of Rosewood Estate only obeyed Oliver's commands, so they ignored Jane.

"Oliver, what are you doing? Don't you know Lucas is ill?" Jane said angrily. On the way here, she had already learned about Natalie's accidental injury and the resulting fever.

Oliver sneered irritably and looked at Lucas accusatorially. "Why don’t you ask him what happened? Patients shouldn't be running around, should they?"

Hearing this, Lucas lowered his head in shame. It was indeed his recklessness that had brought harm to his sister.

Jane treated Lucas as a younger brother and sighed when she saw his guilt. She turned to Oliver and asked, "How’s Natalie? Has she been treated? Have you called a doctor over?"
