Chapter 1092 I'm Not Taking Sides

When Jane opened her eyes again, it was already noon.

Anthony was nowhere to be seen in the villa. If Jane hadn't found Anthony's coat left on the sofa in her room when she got up, she might have thought that Anthony coming back before dawn was just a dream.

Jane didn't ask about Anthony, and the villa's servants, sensing the tension between them, didn't dare speak up.

Only Billy, who had grown up with Jane, dared to say, "Ms. Watkins, Mr. Clark came back to check on you before dawn. He waited until nine this morning before leaving because you hadn't woken up yet."

Billy specifically mentioned that Anthony came back and waited until nine, trying to tell Jane that Anthony cared about her.

Seeing Jane remain silent, Billy added, "The matters at Clark Manor are still not finished. Mr. Clark came back late at night because he was worried about you."

Jane felt that if she didn't speak up, Billy could go on for half an hour.

"Billy, why do I feel like you're always siding with Anthony?" she asked.

Billy played dumb. "I'm not siding with anyone; I'm just doing my job."

'You're just lying through your teeth,' Jane thought to herself.

Jane drank half a bowl of soup and didn't want any more. She put down the bowl and spoon, lost in thought.

She understood what Billy meant. To her, Ann was a difficult and unpleasant person, but Ann was very good to Anthony.

Ann was Anthony's mother, the one who raised him, and she cared deeply for him.

Jane also understood that because Anthony was so important to Ann, Ann was very hostile towards her.

Billy was trying to say that Anthony was in a difficult position, but he still cared about her.

Anthony didn't come back again that night, reportedly because Ann was still unwell and missed her son.

A maid, following Anthony's instructions, stayed with Jane until she fell asleep.

This time, Jane fell asleep quickly, but she suddenly woke up in the middle of the night, feeling like someone else was there.

She groggily opened her eyes and saw a tall, upright figure standing by the window, still wearing an overcoat.

It was Anthony.

Jane pinched herself under the covers to make sure she wasn't hallucinating due to pregnancy.

The next day, Anthony was gone again, and this time even Billy didn't mention him.

If Jane hadn't woken up in the middle of the night, she wouldn't have known Anthony had been there.

Jane couldn't understand what on earth Anthony was up to.

But this question was soon answered.

"Ms. Watkins, what a coincidence!"

Jane was walking by the lake when she suddenly heard a familiar voice behind her.

Aurora stood not far away, holding a handbag, accompanied by another lady from the Emerald Gardens villa community. However, this lady was at the bottom of the social hierarchy in Emerald Gardens; her husband's company was also at the bottom, and she had originally been a mistress. The other ladies in Emerald Gardens usually didn't associate with her.

It was precisely because of this that Aurora befriended her. On the surface, it seemed like the lady had invited Aurora to Emerald Gardens, but in reality, Aurora wanted to confront Jane.

Jane glanced at Aurora indifferently, having no intention of engaging with someone who was persistently provocative and unyielding. She turned to leave.

But Aurora wouldn't let her go so easily. "Ms. Watkins, are you aware of what's going on between Mr. Clark and Delilah?"

Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
