Chapter499

Silence ensued.

Natalie found herself momentarily without words.

"What happened with you and Oliver?" Emily asked as she began to drive to Maple Villa, "Actually, forget that question. How will you cope with your injury? Do you have someone to care for you?"

"I don’t need help. I’ll have the cast removed tomorrow. I should be able to walk then, but returning to work might take a month."

Natalie was familiar with the process: her muscles would require retraining, learning to walk again as if for the first time.

"Why are you rushing back to work anyway? It is not as though models age out as quickly as actors do." Privately, Emily Reed hoped Natalie would take a bit more time to rest.

"Emily, I’m really okay," she insisted, gazing out the window at the passersby, lost in thought. Resting without anything to occupy her mind often led to a spiral of worries. Delaying her return to the limelight only amplified her sense of unease.

At the RK’s headquarters.

"Oliver, have things improved with your wife?" Wyatt asked tentatively.

Oliver was buried in paperwork, not even glancing up, every inch the dedicated workaholic.

Isaac let out a long sigh, placing his hands on his hips as he looked up at the ceiling. "Oliver, you’ve always told us that problems need fixing. You’re always here first and leave last; the rest of the staff wouldn’t dare to come in later and leave earlier than you."

"How do you propose we fix it?" Oliver finally looked up. Indeed, problems could be resolved.

Isaac's mouth opened and closed. Then he said sheepishly, “Uh… Well, that’s why I say it’s better to be single, like me.”

"Womanizer," Wyatt said.

Half an hour later, the secretary called, saying, “Mr. Windsor, Mr. Arthur is here.”

Before the office door even fully opened, before they saw who it was, a soft voice greeted them.

Isaac and Wyatt were dumbstruck as they took in the sight of Arthur—or rather, the adorable little child perched on his arm with a neat haircut, her big round eyes sparkling like onyx, instantly winning their hearts.

Isaac was stunned. “Who’s this cute child?”

Wyatt rolled his eyes at Isaac for asking such an obvious question.

“Oh, right,” Isaac said as realization dawned on him, "I did hear something about you having a daughter. I thought it was a joke!"

Isaac looked at Tina and marveled, “She’s so well-behaved! I’ve never seen such an adorable child before!”

While talking, he could not help but reach out to pinch Tina's chubby cheek.

Arthur responded with a graceful smile as he smoothly stepped back out of Isaac’s reach. Then, he said, “If you like children so much, go have one of your own.”

Isaac's smile froze. Since Arthur would not let him play with the child; Isaac could only look at Tina longingly.

‘How can a child be so cute?’

"Natalie?"

Tina, upon entering the room, scanned her surroundings in search of someone.

"She’s not here," Oliver responded, his eyes fixed on Tina, though his thoughts were occupied with memories of Natalie caring for her. A gloomy expression soon darkened his face.
