Chapter 1084 Baby, You've Grown Up
"Alright, I'll think about it. Thank you, Aurora!" Ann had a good impression of Aurora.
Especially now that Aurora had become Hubert's wife, she still cared about her.
Ann thought carefully and felt that Aurora made a lot of sense. She didn't like Jane, but it was unreasonable to let her come between her and Anthony. She didn't want it to affect their mother-son relationship.
She had to think of a good solution!
"Are you leaving with me?" Jane asked in surprise when she saw Anthony getting into the car with her.
"Can't I leave with you?" Anthony leaned over, fastening Jane's seatbelt while asking back.
"Not really," Jane said. "This is Hubert's wedding. Is it really okay for you to leave halfway?"
"There's nothing wrong with it." If it weren't for Jane, Anthony wouldn't have even thought about attending the wedding.
After returning from the wedding to Emerald Gardens, the first thing Jane did was take a shower.
The guests were all heavily or lightly made up, wearing perfume, and the mixed scents of makeup and perfume made Jane very uncomfortable.
Halfway through her shower, she suddenly looked in the mirror and was surprised to find that her lower abdomen was not as flat as before from the side view.
There was a slight bulge in her lower abdomen, not easily noticeable to the naked eye, but she could feel it when she stood straight and touched it.
When Anthony touched her belly last time, she was sitting on the couch, so he couldn't feel it.
A subtle sense of strangeness rippled through Jane's heart, and at this moment, she felt the reality of being pregnant.
"Baby, are you growing up?"
Jane gently touched her lower abdomen and softly said, "Did you hear me say I didn't want you, so you're eager to show your presence?"
Jane began to be curious and look forward to the feeling of fetal movement.
"Ms. Watkins, this is the baby's head." Jane lay on the examination bed, and the doctor beside her pointed to the ultrasound image to explain.
"Head?" Jane looked skeptical.
She could only see a few lines and couldn't tell where the head was.
She turned her head and saw Anthony looking intently at the ultrasound screen, and couldn't help but ask, "Anthony, can you understand this?"
"Yes." Anthony nodded. He wouldn't tell Jane that he had crammed this knowledge recently.
Seeing Jane's confused and self-doubting expression, a smile gradually appeared in his eyes.
Jane often unintentionally showed a different kind of cuteness. In the eyes of the world, she was a noble and cold socialite, but in private, she was still an naive girl.
It was their first time being parents, and it was clear that Anthony was more attentive than Jane.
Jane pouted. If she had known, she wouldn't have asked Anthony, making herself seem uneducated. Hmph!
After the check-up, Anthony held Jane's hand as they left the hospital. The test report would be available tomorrow; they could send someone to pick it up.
As they walked to the hospital entrance, they saw Ann standing under a large banyan tree outside, both of them were surprised.
Ann was dressed very formally. Seeing Anthony and Jane from a distance, she smiled and waved.
"Anthony!" Ann signaled them to come over.
Anthony instinctively looked at Jane, who had already averted her eyes and said to him, "I know where the car is parked. I'll wait for you in the car."
She didn't want to interact much with Ann, and Ann probably didn't want to see her either.
Ann noticed Jane's intention to leave alone and quickly walked over with her bag.
"Ms. Watkins, please wait!"
Ann's words interrupted Jane's plan.
Jane closed her eyes tightly. Since Ann had called out to her, it wouldn't be appropriate for her to just walk away.
Firstly, Ann was an elder.
Secondly, Ann was the grandmother of the child in her belly. Since Jane had decided to have this child, she didn't want her child to suffer more because of her.
She worried that if she showed Ann a bad attitude now, Ann might take it out on her child in the future.
"Ms. Watkins, are you here for a prenatal check-up?" Ann took the initiative to speak, her tone quite polite.
'This is a maternity hospital. What else will I be here for if not a prenatal check-up?' Jane thought to herself but nodded on the surface to indicate yes.
"Mom, what are you doing here?" Anthony spoke with a defensive tone.
He had not expected Ann to come directly to the hospital to seek out Jane.
Ann caught the meaning in Anthony's words, her face momentarily looking displeased, but she quickly put on a smile.
She was here to mend her relationship with Anthony, not to argue.
"Can't I come to see my son and my future grandchild?" Ann said.
Jane looked at her in surprise.
Wasn't Ann opposed of her having this child?
Even Anthony was very surprised, frowning at Ann. "Mom, what are you up to now?"
"Please mind your words, Anthony." Ann acted as if she had amnesia, completely forgetting the harsh words she had said before, and enthusiastically said, "Why don't you both come back and live with me? I have experience with pregnancy, and it would be convenient to take care of Ms. Watkins."
Jane doubted her ears or wondered if Ann had been possessed.
Anthony narrowed his eyes, observing Ann without showing any emotion.
Even though Ann was his mother, he didn't fully trust her.
"Ms. Watkins, what do you think?" Ann asked Jane. She knew very well that whether or not they moved back to the Clark Manor depended on Jane.
Jane was deeply resistant to this idea.
Living with Ann?
She felt like it would be walking into a lion's den.
"Mom, we're used to living on our own," Anthony said, not wanting to make Jane uncomfortable. "We have servants and doctors to take care of Jane, so we don't need you."
Ann never expected Anthony and Jane to refuse her.
She had taken the initiative to let go of her grudges and not hold anything against Jane, even inviting Jane to live at the Clark Manor. Shouldn't they be happy, thank her, and immediately go back with her?
Seeing the Clark family's car parked not far away, it was probably the car that brought Ann here.
"Mom, since you have someone to drive you, I won't see you off." Anthony put his arm around Jane's waist. "We'll be leaving now. You should go home and rest early."
Even after Anthony and Jane left her sight, Ann couldn't believe they had refused her.
She thought, 'How could they refuse? Do they even have the right to refuse? Which woman, when pregnant, wouldn't want to quickly move into her husband's home?'
Ann was very angry and took a long time to calm down.
Jane walked forward with Anthony's arm around her.
She didn't look back, but she could imagine how furious Ann must be.
"I can go back by myself," Jane said. "You can go send your mother back."
"She has a driver," Anthony said, unmoved.
Jane muttered, "I have a driver too."
Anthony clicked his tongue and gently flicked Jane's cheek. "Jane, I'm being nice to you, and you're not happy?"
