Chapter 984 What are you looking at!

That haute couture outfit was personally selected by Anthony, who also provided Jane's body measurements himself.

When Anthony served as Jane's bodyguard for the Watkins family, one of the things he couldn't comprehend was Jane's love of different clothes, skirts, pants, shoes, bags, and jewelry.

He couldn't understand why she had to buy so much of the same thing.

Moreover, Jane looked good in every outfit. But if he said that, Jane would irritate.

What Anthony couldn't understand now was how he could patiently and even proactively  pick out dresses for Jane.

Anthony replied: [What do you want? No news from Jovan.]

"Mr. Clark, are you listening?" The manager who was giving the report had finished his part several minutes ago and couldn't help but ask, as he hadn't received any response from Anthony.

Anthony, in a good mood, looked up and replied, "Do you think I was listening?"

The manager, who was over forty, thought, 'I think you weren't.'

Anthony was very honest and straightforward, saying, "I wasn't."

"Meeting adjourned," Anthony said. He could multitask, but he preferred to give his undivided attention to Jane.

After all, if Jane knew Anthony was chatting with her while still in a meeting, she would probably blow up.

In fact, Jane didn't care whether Anthony was multitasking or not when talking to her.

Without any news from Jovan, Jane lost interest in chatting with Anthony.

As for taking photos, Anthony could keep dreaming.

Jane smiled smugly, and just then, a sound came from the front door.

Aurora walked in with the help of a servant. She looked at Jane with a pale complexion, her eyes full of scrutiny and even a hint of wariness.

Aurora recognized that the outfit Jane was wearing was a limited edition from D's collection this year. Aurora had no particular obsession with clothes or jewelry, but this outfit had caused quite a stir in the circle when it was released. However, Aurora wasn't particularly moved by it.

But at this moment, when she saw it on Jane, the smooth design of the dress that accentuated Jane's perfect figure, it made her envious.

Aurora knew very well that with Jane's current conditions and abilities, she couldn't possibly have ordered this dress, let alone have someone from D deliver it to her door.

"Ms. Watkins, what a good mood you're in!" Aurora's words sounded like a casual greeting, but anyone with a keen ear could hear the underlying sarcasm.

The smug joy on Jane's face hadn't completely faded, but it gradually disappeared.

Jane glanced at the calendar on her phone. Aurora had been discharged two days early.

Jane's gaze couldn't help but fall on Aurora's belly. She thought, 'Does she not want her child born?'

Jane wasn't particularly curious, so even though she was puzzled about why Aurora had suddenly wanted an abortion but now returned with her belly intact, she wouldn't ask.

Jane was now too lazy to say another word to Aurora.

But Aurora didn't think the same.

Supported by the servant, Aurora walked towards Jane, her usually gentle gaze now sharp.

"Did my fiancé order that dress for you?" Aurora asked.

Aurora had always referred to Anthony as Anthony. Anyone with half a brain could tell that Aurora was deliberately asserting her claim.

Sadie quietly stepped forward, positioning herself between Jane and Aurora, and smiled at Aurora, saying, "Ms. Dewar, Ms. Watkins has to go on a business trip with Mr. Clark, so she ordered this dress."

"Business trip?" Aurora was taken aback by the term. 'How could I not know about this?' she thought.

Sadie said, "Ms. Dewar, you are not in a good health. You should focus on your pregnancy. Pregnant women should avoid overthinking, that's what the doctor said."

In the past, Aurora would have calmed down at Sadie's words and put everything aside for the sake of the child.

But now, whenever Aurora thought of the lump of flesh in her belly, she felt nothing but resentment, and her anger flared up.

"Jane, who are you to accompany my fiancé on this business trip?" Aurora asked with a cold smile, "His secretary? No. His companion? No, besides me, he has never had another companion. So, are you his ex-girlfriend or a scheming admirer?"

Jane rolled her eyes and pointed to her head, asking Sadie, "I'm a bit confused. Does pregnancy make Aurora’s brain not work properly?"

Sadie thought, 'It turns out Ms. Watkins is not only good at mocking Mr. Clark but treats everyone equally.'

"Jane Watkins, you!" Aurora trembled with anger.

Jane glanced at Aurora's belly and repeatedly told herself not to argue with a woman about to give birth.

So she said, "Aurora, to be honest, I don't want to accompany Anthony on this business trip. If you can convince him, I won't go. I have no designs on your fiancé. I've said this many times. You can believe it or not, but please don't bother me, okay?"

"Jane, go outside and listen to what people are saying!" Aurora pointed excitedly towards the door. "They are saying that you and my fiancé are entangled. You're trying to take my place. How am I supposed to believe you when you say you have no designs on him?"

Jane found it odd, saying, "If there are rumors outside, shouldn't you go out and clear them up? What's the point of yelling at me here? If I could leave here, I would. If you can convince Ann to let me go without using my brother to threaten me, I could even go to the church and pray for you and your unborn child."

The good mood brought by the beautiful dress was completely shattered.

Jane received another message from Anthony.

It was a transfer notification from Anthony, $1500.

Just as Jane was about to reply, she noticed Aurora looking at her phone with a suspicious look, clearly wanting to know what messages she had received and whether they were from Anthony, like a wife catching her husband cheating.

Jane accepted the payment, and Anthony sent another message.

Anthony: [Photo]

Jane: [What the hell are you looking at!]

The $1500 was Jane's travel expenses for accompanying Anthony on the business trip, even after a significant discount.

After sending the message, Jane tossed her phone aside and went to her room to change out of the dress.

Jane could easily imagine that while she was changing, Aurora would be staring at her phone. The lock screen of Jane's phone held a secret, and Aurora's pride wouldn't allow her to snoop through someone else's phone.

Thinking about this, Jane felt inexplicably satisfied.

"Ms. Dewar..." the servant said worriedly.

"When will Mrs. Clark be back?" Aurora took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.

"Mrs. Clark has an appointment with some neighboring ladies to watch a play today. She should be back in about two hours."

"Alright."

Aurora now deeply regretted bringing Jane into the Clark family, which had given Jane the opportunity to get close to Anthony. This move was truly foolish.

Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
