Chapter 183 Mr. Windsor, Like a Rich Second Generation Wreaking Havoc
Natalie began the preparations for lunch. The kitchen was already spotless, thanks to the efforts of the household staff. The events of the previous night seemed like a distant dream. Mixed emotions of amusement and embarrassment flooded her, accompanied by an unexpected urge to both laugh and cry.
The source of her amusement was the memory of a distinguished gentleman, who was utterly clueless about the difference between plain flour and cornstarch, attempting to cook in the middle of the night, driven by his desire to cook for her. This impromptu culinary adventure had likely been sparked by Lucas' teasing.
On the other hand, her embarrassment stemmed from the realization that something quite out of the ordinary had transpired in this kitchen just a bit over ten hours earlier.
With a slight pursing of her lips, Natalie quickly made two Bocadillo de Tortilla sandwiches for their slightly late lunch.
Oliver, for his part, seemed unbothered by the simplicity of the meal, savoring the sandwiches while occasionally casting glances Natalie's way.
"Eat! Stop looking at me," Natalie chided, half-convinced that Oliver was silently teasing her for her boldness last night.
In fact, Oliver had no intention of teasing. He only found her shy appearance adorable, drawing a smile from him.
Natalie bit her lip, flustered, thinking that he really liked to tease her. Initially, she had planned to cook something else, but now, she changed her mind. The sandwiches would suffice.
Not long after they were done with their meal, Natalie received a call from a number she did not recognize.
"Hello?"
“Miss Watson? Hi, I’m Emily from HHY Fashion Company. Are you interested in collaborating with our company?”
“HHY?” Natalie was stunned.
"Yes," Emily continued, "If you’re interested, we can arrange a meeting to discuss this further. Please let me know your availability."
Even after ending the call, Natalie remained in a state of disbelief. After all, HHY was a titan in the fashion industry, a dream for many to be associated with. When she finally reacted, she exclaimed in a mix of surprise and excitement, “Oliver! HHY wants to collaborate with me!”
Among all the companies, HHY was one of Natalie’s favorites.
While HHY and FIY were similar in market standing, FIY's reputation for murky dealings was a deterrent for Natalie. HHY, on the other hand, was known for its integrity and fairness.
Oliver said with slight disdain, “RK is superior to HHY. Why haven’t I seen you express any desire to join RK?”
Natalie laughed lightly and said, “RK Entertainment focuses more on the entertainment industry.”
Oliver, displaying a hint of disdain, remarked, "RK is superior to HHY."
Oliver mused inwardly, regretting that Isaac had not expanded their business into the fashion industry to seize a greater market share.
…
When Lucas returned, he made no mention of the previous night's events, acting as if they had never happened.
Natalie let out a sigh of relief. It was preferable to avoid discussing the matter, maintaining a collective silence would spare everyone any potential awkwardness.
When she asked about Lucas' afternoon whereabouts, he fabricated a visit to the museum, despite having merely spent the hours sitting idly in the car, reluctant to venture out.
Lucas, observing his sister, noted an unusual choice of attire for the day; Natalie had opted for a high-neck long dress that concealed her neck entirely.
"Lucas, I have some exciting news to share. HHY Fashion reached out to me!" Natalie announced, unable to hide her joy.
Everyone in the fashion industry knew that being affiliated with HHY was akin to having one foot on the runway to becoming a top model. It was a place where legends were made.
"Congratulations! I always knew you were destined for greatness!" Lucas applauded. However, inwardly, he mused on the slow pace at which the company had acted, comparing it to the speed of an elderly person.
Oliver looked at Lucas and noticed Lucas’ lack of surprise. It was as though Lucas had already expected it. He found this rather unusual.
…
The date for the contract signing was set for Wednesday.
Oliver assured Natalie he would arrange for a lawyer to accompany her, ensuring she faced no disadvantages during the process.
However, on the day of the signing, Natalie was taken aback to find Oliver himself waiting for her outside Rosewood Estate, rather than heading to his office as she had anticipated.
"Oliver? Weren’t you supposed to be at the office today?"
She looked around, seeing no one else, she asked, "And where’s the lawyer you mentioned?"
The man seated in the back of the car responded, "That would be me."
Natalie was momentarily at a loss, believing Oliver to be joking. She did not think it was necessary for a lawyer to be present, and she also did not think Oliver needed to be present.
"You should go to work. I can manage without a lawyer... I know you have legal knowledge, but…” Natalie said before she trailed off and muttered under her breath, “But you don’t look like a lawyer…”
Ever perceptive, Oliver gave her a sideway glance and asked, “Then what do I look like to you?”
"Nouveau riche, the type prone to causing trouble."
Jamie could not help but laugh at the remark that only Natalie would dare to make. However, he was quickly silenced by just a look from Oliver. He struggled to hold back his laughter, finding Natalie’s description hilariously accurate.
Natalie knew it was futile to dissuade him, so she resigned herself to the situation. She asked,
“By the way, why didn’t you wait for me at home to leave together? Why were you waiting outside? Was it a spur-of-the-moment decision to come with me?”
Oliver replied noncommittally, "Hmm."
Through the rearview mirror, Jamie looked at his boss's reflection, thinking, ‘It’s not a spur-of-the-moment decision. He just doesn’t want your brother to tag along!’
After all, if Lucas had known that Oliver was accompanying Natalie to the meeting, there was no doubt that Lucas would have wanted to come along as well.
…
HHY Fashion Company's headquarters was located in Europe, and its largest branch was in Paykston.
They were greeted by the sight of a sleek and stylish building, a hub for fashion enthusiasts dressed in the latest trends. It was easy to spot several prominent figures in the fashion industry from just a brief glance.
Upon their arrival, Natalie was promptly escorted to the manager's office on the 23rd floor.
Natalie whispered to Oliver, "Please try not to look so stern later. You really don’t look like someone who came to discuss a collaboration. I’m here to seek a partnership with them after all."
Oliver expressed his disdain with a click of his tongue. For him, this was an unfamiliar position to be in, being the party seeking a partnership.
Inside the office, they were greeted by three formally dressed individuals—two men and a woman.
The woman, in particular, captured attention with her neatly styled short hair, exuding an air of grace and intellect. While her beauty was not striking, she possessed a distinctive elegance. Dressed in a tailored suit, she presented a figure of both dignity and sharpness, radiating a profound sense of style.
"Hello, I’m Natalie Watson," Natalie introduced herself as they entered, "This gentleman accompanying me is my lawyer, Mr. Windsor..."
The trio briefly scrutinized Oliver, their initial surprise evident, yet they refrained from any overt second glances.
‘This man exudes an undeniable sophistication and charm…’
Judging by their reactions, Natalie could guess their thoughts. It was a novel sight for them, a young model accompanied by such a distinguished and arrogant lawyer. Perhaps, they thought that she had a wealthy backer.
