Chapter 1130 Anthony's Attitude

Calvin whispered to his good friend, "Why do I feel like Mr. Clark is especially gentle when drawing cards? Is it just my imagination?"

Calvin's friend whispered back, "It's not your imagination. It's not that he's gentle when drawing cards; it's that he's gentle when talking to Jane."

Calvin nodded. "So, does this mean I'm playing matchmaker for them?"

Calvin's friend tried to bring him back to reality. "Do you think Jane's expression looks like she wants you to play matchmaker? She looks ready to throttle you."

Calvin thought to himself, 'I'm doomed.'

"Mr. Clark, I've heard my father say that you were very accomplished and exceptionally smart when you were young. Your card skills must be extraordinary too," Lucy said, sitting right behind Anthony and chatting with him familiarly.

Everyone was wondering when the Hayes family got close to Anthony. Anthony played a card without saying a word.

He completely ignored Lucy.

Lucy felt awkward and shut her mouth.

"Jane." Calvin, sitting behind Jane and watching her cards, reminded her that she could win.

But then, the one who was about to win was Anthony.

Jane drew a card and played it.

Calvin thought Jane hadn't heard him, so he pointed at the card and said, "Jane, you won! Didn't you see it?"

Jane glared at Calvin and, after playing her card, pointed at her face and asked Calvin, "Didn't you see this?"

"See what?" Calvin asked, confused.

Jane said, "My face says if you don't shut up, you might not see the sun tomorrow."

Calvin thought, 'Seriously, Jane, aren't you happy about winning?'

Calvin had a wild guess. 'Could it be that Jane doesn't want to win Anthony's money? Does she look down on his money?'

Calvin was actually right this time.

However, it wasn't that Jane looked down on Anthony's money; she didn't want to have too much interaction with him.

For several rounds, Jane could match all the cards he played, but she acted as if she didn't see them.

From what Jane knew about Anthony, he was deliberately letting her win and giving her money.

Anthony couldn't give away his cards and glanced at Jane a couple of times.

Jane sat there with a disinterested look, probably only staying because of Calvin. Otherwise, she would have left already.

It was clear that Jane and Calvin had a good relationship.

Since he couldn't give away his cards, Anthony changed his strategy quickly.

In the next hour, the atmosphere at the card table became increasingly strange.

Every card Anthony played was higher than Jane's.

Jane's chips were yellow, and after an hour, most of the yellow chips were stacked high next to Anthony.

Anthony was clearly targeting Jane.

"Is Mr. Clark taking revenge on Jane?" someone whispered.

Another person replied, "Jane isn't short of money now, so how could it be revenge?"

"Losing all the time is embarrassing."

"That makes sense. Maybe their relationship is really irreconcilable."

The other player at the table felt completely out of place with these two, as if every second was dragging on.

Everyone could see Anthony's targeting, including Jane herself.

Jane's face grew darker, and she focused all her attention on the current round and won.

As the waiter shuffled the cards, Jane stood up and said, "I'm going to the restroom. You guys continue."

"Jane, where are you going? There's a restroom in the private room." Calvin called after her.

Jane waved her hand and kept walking out.

"She doesn't like the smell of smoke," Anthony suddenly said.

The person who had just come out of the restroom with a cigarette awkwardly put it out.

A few people exchanged glances, as if to say, "Look at that; Anthony even mentioned Jane doesn't like the smell of smoke. Isn't he being considerate of her?"

"You guys continue playing." Anthony stood up and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window.

By now, anyone with half a brain could see that Anthony was at the card table entirely because of Jane. Once Jane left, he had no patience to continue playing.

Winning Jane's money was probably not about revenge but about getting her attention.

Calvin answered a phone call. "Are you serious? It's my birthday today, and you're leaving so early! Alright, alright, do you need me to give you a ride? Okay, be safe, and let me know when you get home."

Calvin didn't mention any names, so no one else paid attention, except Anthony.

"Did Jane make the call?" Anthony asked Calvin.

Calvin hesitated for a few seconds before finally nodding.

"Happy birthday, Mr. Green. I'll make up for the gift later," Anthony said and turned to leave.

"Mr. Clark, are you leaving?" someone asked, "You haven't settled your chips yet!"

"Then they're for Mr. Green," Anthony said.

Well, after all that, Calvin was the final winner.

As soon as Anthony left, the card room exploded with chatter.

"Anthony still likes Jane, doesn't he?"

"Would you care if a woman you didn't like disliked the smell of smoke?"

"My girlfriend doesn't like it, and I still smoke."

"Would you give money to a woman you didn't like?"

"Didn't he end up not giving it? Okay, I get it. Mr. Clark still likes Jane."

"So, the situation now is that Anthony still likes Jane, but Jane is ignoring Anthony?"

"Isn't that obvious? If I were Jane, I wouldn't bother with Anthony either. With Jane's talent and looks, now that Jovan is back, she can be even more arrogant than before."

"Anthony's attitude towards Jane just now was really blatant."

"Are you a minor? Why would he hide it?"

A group of people chatted enthusiastically, and someone asked Calvin, "Mr. Green, you're close to Jane. What's her attitude? Come on, give us the scoop."

"Scoop? Not a chance! I also want to know what's going on between Jane and Anthony!"

Calvin didn't know either; otherwise, he wouldn't have invited Lucy today, nor would he have given Lucy the chance to bring Anthony to the scene.

Jane had a few drinks and couldn't drive. When she called for a ride, she realized she had left her bag in the card room.

She didn't want to go back to get it, so she signaled the driver to start the car and called Calvin to ask him to keep her bag for her to pick up another day.

Calvin hesitated.

Jane had been dealing with one annoyance after another tonight and was in a bad mood. She said, "Calvin, just say it. Even if it's your birthday today, it won't save you if you keep hesitating."

Calvin thought, not just my birthday. Even our years of friendship might not save me this time.

Calvin held the phone, looking resigned, and quickly said, "Anthony took your bag."

Jane was so angry she had a headache. "Seriously, Calvin, you're the host of the party. How could you let someone take my bag? Did you leave your brain at home today?"

"Jane, Anthony isn't just anyone. He's your ex! You used to like him so much! And I don't know what's going on between you two now," Calvin said, feeling guilty. "Alright, I was wrong, Jane. I'll buy you a new bag, no, ten bags!"

Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
