Chapter 838 Baby, Are You Feeling Unwell?

"Natalie doesn't want to see you, so please avoid her."

With this, Samuel decided to stay out of Natalie's sight for the time being.

Samuel suddenly remembered something, and his expression, which had just improved, turned dark again as he asked, "Does Natalie know?"

"Yes," Jamie sighed and said, "Natalie was just outside the door and overheard everything."

Samuel asked with a hint of disbelief, "But she still doesn't want to see me?"

Jamie replied, "Yes, she said she doesn't want to see all of you."

Samuel clenched his fists tightly, overwhelmed by frustration at his missed opportunity.

He had finally managed to get Natalie to warm up to him a bit. Although he was not seen as a brother figure, or even a friend, at least they could exchange a few words.

'This is a mess. Everything is vain now!'

He feared that in her eyes, he was now a complete and utter fraud. He was a big liar who had kept the truth from her.

Helen followed Samuel downstairs in a daze and got into the car. After sitting in the car for a while, she suddenly exclaimed excitedly, "Samuel, I want to do a DNA test. I don't believe it! I really don't believe it!"

Samuel had lost patience with his mother. He locked the car door and continued driving toward the airport.

"Alright."

However, he was not just doing it for Helen. Since Natalie was aware of the truth now, there was no need to keep it a secret from the other members of the Hastings family.

As for the DNA test, he had prepared it long ago.

"How could that woman, Natalie, possibly be my daughter? The moment I see her face, I feel disgusted and repulsed! She's definitely not my daughter. It is impossible!"

Helen's sarcastic words kept echoing in Natalie's ears.

Oliver wanted to give Natalie some time to accept this information, only to realize that her condition was getting worse.

''Natalie!''

She was in a trance, and her face was ashen. There was a thin layer of sweat on her forehead, yet she seemed to be completely oblivious to any physical discomfort.

Her eyes flashed, and it took her two seconds to focus her gaze, only to see Oliver staring at her with concern.

"Baby, are you feeling unwell?" Oliver asked. His gaze was warm and comforting.

Natalie gradually regained her composure and nodded slowly. "I need the doctor."

The pain in her abdomen became more and more pronounced.

The doctor came to check on Natalie, administered a shot to prevent miscarriage, and cautioned, "What did you say to the pregnant woman? Her condition is worse than when she was brought in. She can't handle any more stress, do you not know that?"

Oliver, who was usually the one criticizing others, now faced the doctor's reprimand, only nodding earnestly like a child admitting a mistake.

"Doctor, he didn't do anything. I just overheard something," Natalie said. She could not stand to see Oliver being blamed for no reason. He was innocent all along.

The doctor said to Natalie, "And you, you just arrived at the hospital, but you're already causing trouble, forcing a nurse to push you out. You're over four months pregnant, do you not understand your own physical condition? Why are you wandering around everywhere?"

"Doctor!" Oliver interrupted, wanting to put an end to the other person's incessant chatter.

The doctor was too tired to lecture anymore.

'Since they don't like to be lectured, why didn't they just listen to instructions? Patients nowadays are really difficult to serve!'

After the doctor left, the ward fell into a quiet stillness.

Emily and Lilian, having heard that Natalie had woken up, wanted to come in to visit, but they were both stopped by Jamie at the door.

This time, even Jamie looked upset.

Aware of the gravity of the situation, Emily and Lilian asked what exactly had happened.

"Natalie is in a bad mood and probably doesn't want to see anyone at the moment. She's the real daughter of the Hastings family, not Susan," Jamie said with a sigh.

He did not reveal any more details, but as long as they were not fools, they could understand the underlying meaning.

Two girls exchanged their lives, and it lasted for more than a decade. The Hastings family also helped the fake daughter deal with the real daughter.

"Natalie is the daughter of that wicked woman Helen?" Lilian covered her mouth in disbelief.

Emily looked thoughtful. She had been in contact with the Reed family for so long, and she thought that the family had terrible conduct despite being a prominent family. She could not understand how such a family produced a daughter like Natalie.

Emily suddenly thought of Natalie’s extraordinary talents, her powerful linguistic abilities, which were probably inherited from the Hastings family's Emma. Emma was one of the most famous translators back in the day, and Natalie's impeccable manners were likely passed down through Emma.

Emily and Emma had never met, but whenever the elders mentioned them, they spoke highly of them and could not find any fault.

"Jamie, is it okay for you to just tell us this news like that?" Emily asked.

"Emily, you're Natalie's close friend, and Lilian is family. Of course, there's no problem with telling both of you." Jamie had always understood the art of communication and knew how to satisfy people.

Actually, the news that Natalie was the daughter of the Hastings family could not be kept secret for long. Jamie was just the first person to convey this information. He was trying to win people over and at the same time prepare them.

"Also, please keep the incident today a secret. Remember not to let Emma know about it. She is old and can't handle any shocks."

"Of course."

In the hospital room.

After taking the medicine, Natalie stared blankly at the ceiling.

"What are you thinking about?" Oliver raised his hand and covered Natalie's eyes, sitting on the edge of the bed.

"I was thinking," Natalie said helplessly, "Is God playing a joke on me?"

Natalie chuckled self-deprecatingly and said, "Oliver, actually, I used to wonder if I might have any connection with the Hastings family, but I really didn't want to be associated with them. So, even though that thought crossed my mind several times, I didn't dwell on it, and even forced myself to forget about it."

Natalie's eyes were blocked by Oliver's palm, plunging her into darkness and cutting off the incessant memories in her mind.

She remembered the threats, mockery, and disdain the Hastings family once directed toward her. Recalling Helen's initial subtle harassment, which later turned into kidnapping her, bringing thugs to attempt to rape her, insulting her, despising her... and this time, nearly causing the death of both her and her child.

Recalling Samuel's reactions to her actions felt like irony.

"I always thought Samuel was a sensible person, but it turns out he was only nice to me because he knew my identity, not because of who I am."

Natalie finished speaking, and she suddenly felt a bit sorry for Samuel. At least, Samuel never harmed her from start to finish, nor did he show favoritism toward Susan.

In any case, she did not want to be the daughter of the Hastings family.

Oliver felt warm liquid from beneath his palm. He also felt very sad. His throat tightened, making it almost impossible to breathe.
