Chapter 478

The ring traced a silver arc through the air, captivating the onlookers, before coming to rest near the women’s ring.

It was such a glaring mistake that even Helen frowned.

Mr. Hastings forcefully brought his cane down, creating a loud noise, and called out in a booming voice, "Susan!"

"Grandpa, I truly... I didn't… I'm innocent! It was Natalie! She framed me! She plotted against me!"

Susan's tears flowed uncontrollably, her head shaking, her hands moving wildly as she tried to defend herself. She pointed an accusing finger at Natalie and continued, "If she didn't plot against me, why would she come looking for me when she was confined to her wheelchair? Oliver, it was Natalie! She set me up! The ring… She said she wanted to give it to me!"

Natalie's expression did not change. Her composure was in stark contrast to Susan's frantic tears.

Alas, nobody seemed willing to take Susan's side.

Everyone was aware of the problems between Natalie and Oliver now, and with Natalie seeking a divorce, it did not make sense for her to plot against Susan.

Oliver's expression was stern, his lips tightly pressed together. He only showed a slight reaction when Susan brought up the ring. His gaze briefly shifted to the diamond wedding ring on the floor.

It was still on the floor.

With Natalie and Oliver keeping quiet, nobody felt it was their place to intervene.

After a moment, Natalie said, her words carrying a weight that seemed to settle over everyone, "Susan, that's as good as a confession that you love Oliver and want to take my place as Mrs. Windsor."

"So? Your words are also as good as a confession that you tricked me with the ring! You set me up!" Susan retorted, believing that she had exposed Natalie.

Natalie only chuckled. "If you didn't want to replace me, would you have cared about the ring? If you didn't have feelings for Oliver, would you resort to stealing and hiding his wedding ring? And if you didn't intend to harm or kill me, why did you pick up that knife? Who could have forced you to pick up that knife?"

Natalie continued, "Oh, there's also another matter. Susan, I've been wondering why you saved me back then. Apart from that, what led you to that desolate place that night? Did Hailey call you there as well?"

Susan's face turned paler as Natalie continued to speak.

"Susan, in the absence of an explanation, misunderstandings are likely to occur. You're my savior, and I wouldn't want you to be unjustly accused," Natalie articulated, placing an overt emphasis on the term 'savior'.

"I... I got a call," Susan managed to say. The reality that this secret might come to light had never crossed her mind. With Hailey no longer around, she had hoped this matter would remain hidden forever.

"From whom?" someone inquired sharply.

"I... I don't know." Susan's voice wavered as she said.

"And you went despite not knowing who it was? Any reasonable person would suspect a hoax upon receiving a call from an unknown number. Otherwise, it would have been wise to inform the show's staff."
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
