Chapter 464
Susan instinctively touched her face, taken aback. Had she been recognized just like that? Natalie's injury must have given her away to Oliver at a glance.
"Susan? Ha, it’s really you!"
Cadence was out enjoying an evening with her friends but did not expect to stumble upon such an intriguing drama.
"Hey, Susan, what brings you here from Tycoon City? Did you come to seduce Oliver?"
One of Cadence’s friends chimed in, “Didn’t Oliver just walk past? How shameless! She dared to make a move when his wife wasn’t around.”
The group consisted of both men and women; the men largely remained silent, engrossed in their phones or watching with indifference while the women appeared disgusted.
"Let’s go. She’s still an heiress. Be careful that she retaliates,” one woman suggested, pulling at Cadence's sleeve.
Cadence stood her ground. "Do you think I’d be afraid of making enemies? I’ve already crossed paths with Natalie before. Why would I be frightened of Susan? I’ve been annoyed with her for a while now.”
Noticing a faucet and washbasin from the corner of her eye, Cadence walked over in her high heels, filled the basin with water, and returned with a look of fierce determination.
Splash!
A bucket of water soaked Susan thoroughly. Her makeup, which was not waterproof, ran and streaked down her face.
Susan screamed, “What are you doing?! Who do you think you are?! What’s your name?!”
"Cadence Aura!" Cadence stood with her arms crossed as she replied, “Why? Do you want my name so you can seek revenge later? I’m sorry to disappoint you, but the Aura family is bankrupt. I’m a pilot with a triple salary and ten-year contract. There’s nothing you can do to my family or me!”
“Cadence Aura!” Susan gritted her teeth as she repeated Cadence’s name. It was unknown if she knew who Cadence was.
Cadence continued, her words cutting, “I thought my efforts to pursue Oliver in the past were embarrassing, but compared to you, I’m almost like a saint. At least when I was trying to pursue him, I was under the impression that he had no feelings for Natalie at all. But you? Oliver and Natalie have been married for a year, and yet you’re still trying to interfere with their marriage. Also, that matter about you saving Natalie? Who knows if it’s true or not? After all, you’ve lied and plagiarized. You could easily orchestrate that ‘life-saving’ act!”
Laughter broke out among the group of people, who took great pleasure in watching the show. They could not help but applaud Cadence.
"Well said! As expected of a female pilot!”
Despite the significant power and wealth of the Hastings family, no one present came from a family easily intimidated.
After Cadence had finished mocking Susan, she walked away triumphantly.
One of Cadence’s friends asked, “I thought you didn’t get along with Natalie. Why did you defend her today?”
"I’m simply doing the right thing and being the bigger person,” Cadence said, raising her chin slightly. She had long come to terms that she could not compare to Natalie in Oliver’s heart.
Susan lay on the ground, drenched and chilled to the bone. Her face stung. She felt utterly humiliated.
‘Does Oliver like Natalie so much? Why?! Why does Natalie have all the good things in the world? Oliver’s love, her career, loyal friends, and even when she was caught up in a scandal, many people in the industry spoke up for her! Why?!’
