Chapter 697 Perfect Match. It's Because You Two Are Just Too Compatible!

Mia continued, wearing an expression that proudly declared 'My idol is just that awesome'.

"Mia, your secret's out," Barrett said, enjoying Mia's discomfort, then greeted the person who walked over with a casual "bro!"

Mia stiffened and cautiously turned to look at Oliver.

Oliver looked back at Mia with an expressionless face, a slight raise of his eyebrows not giving away his feelings.

Ethan, who had come over as well, closed his eyes in frustration. His darling spouse was beyond help.

But he couldn't give up on the woman he had raised from a young age without at least trying. "Mr. Windsor, Mia didn't mean it, she just..."

"She just accidentally spilled the beans and wrote a fanfiction about me and Natalie?" Oliver finished the sentence for him.

Ethan, looking at his spouse, realized he couldn't save her this time.

Mia paled, instinctively looking for Natalie as her backup. Only later did she realize that Natalie wasn't there, she was surrounded by other people!

"Come here," Oliver said to Mia, summoning her with a flick of his finger.

Mia sent frantic looks to Ethan: "Go get my idol to save me! Otherwise, you'll be left alone!"

Ethan stood rooted to the spot, his expression reading 'You're on your own; I can't help you.'

While Ethan wasn't as outstanding as Oliver, he was an expert at reading people. Although he couldn't tell what Oliver was planning, it was clear Oliver had no intention of harming Mia. After all, someone of Mr. Windsor's stature wouldn't need to go through the trouble of taking someone aside if he wanted to deal with them.

"Nervously, Mia stumbled over her words. "Three... Mr. Windsor, what... what did you want to discuss?"

"Speak clearly," Oliver instructed.

Mia took a quick glance at Oliver's impassive face and despondently dropped her gaze, "I can't... can't seem to get it straight."

Oliver was at a loss for words. Ethan, for all his worth as a second-generation heir, seemed to be smitten with a woman that Oliver couldn't quite fathom. But upon second thought, even Natalie seemed to have a good rapport with her.

Oliver sighed, deciding to let it be. This woman wasn't entirely without merits, for instance, she had good taste since she was a fan of his and Natalie's imagined romance.

"So, you're a fan of the romantic pairing of me and Natalie?" Oliver had neither Ethan's patience nor the inclination to engage much with Mia.

"Not at all!" Mia shook her head vigorously without any hesitation.

"You write about our pairing and you're not a fan?" Oliver scoffed.

Mia was nearly caught red-handed and yet she reluctantly nodded, inwardly ranting, ‘He already knows, so why is he asking? Darn it! I'm going to write an angst-filled plot tonight. I'll make you suffer!’

"I'm sorry, Mr. Windsor, I didn't mean to indulge in the fantasy of you two. I won't do it anymore, I promise... but you can't blame me, can you? If you weren't so compatible, I wouldn't spend my money and energy, nor risk an early 'visit' to the ancestral Windsor estate over your pairing!" Mia found that even her survival instincts couldn't overpower her true feelings, which got the better of her as she spoke.

She was ready to just give up, nobody should stop her.

Mia closed her eyes, awaiting the storm that was sure to come, but after what felt like an eternity, she was surprised to find that nothing happened.

"Mr. Windsor, you... you don't want to deal with me?" Mia asked incredulously.
