Chapter 146 Oliver Isn't Disfigured

Lucas was a member of a world-renowned organization specializing in researching, manufacturing, and selling high-end weaponry at exorbitant prices. He had now risen to a prominent position in this secret organization and wielded significant authority.

"Sister, what brought you here all of a sudden?"

Lucas cast a satisfied glance at the doctor before he got off the bed and held Natalie’s arms, acting spoiled as he said, "I'll be able to leave the hospital very soon!"

The doctor thought to himself, exasperated, ‘In front of his sister, this wolf-like boy actually transformed into an adorable clingy puppy! This is too much!’

Natalie's body tensed. While it was a relief that Lucas would soon be discharged, it would be impossible to conceal her move into Rosewood Estate once he left the hospital. How would she explain it to him then?

"Lucas, I have to attend the finals of Top Avenue tomorrow, and I won't be home for some time. How about you stay in the hospital for a few more days, and I'll pick you up after the competition? I'm concerned about you being on your own if you return to the Watson family," she suggested.

A hint of suspicion flashed in Lucas' eyes, which he quickly masked. "Alright then. As long as you promise to pick me up."

After that, Natalie requested a private conversation with the doctor, making it clear that if the Watson family stopped the money for Lucas' treatment, the doctor was to keep treating Lucas. She also said that she would settle the hospital bill. She was taking these precautions in case Robert stopped paying for Lucas’ treatment because Robert failed to bid for the advertising project.

The doctor readily agreed and, once Natalie departed, informed Lucas of the arrangement.

"Find out if my sister has experienced anything unusual lately," Lucas said icily.

Earlier, Lucas had noticed that his sister was wearing an expensive Versace dress. He knew the Watson family could not afford such extravagance. Perhaps she had just recently signed with a modeling agency that provided her with expensive clothes, but he could not shake the feeling that his sister was keeping something from him due to her sudden visit.

After a moment, Lucas added, “However, don’t invade her privacy too much! And don’t have any inappropriate thoughts about her!”

"Don’t worry. I would never dare entertain such thoughts about your sister," the doctor said reassuringly.

"Contact several reputable modeling agencies to sign my sister. Don’t let it be traced back to me."

"Alright," the doctor replied as he thought to himself, ‘We're involved in the weaponry, but now it seems we're venturing into the fashion industry. In any case, his request has never been ordinary. Since he has spoken, this must be done even if we have to spend a lot of money…"

Mrs. Watson was still shocked by the revelation and paid little attention to Hailey, who was still upset about Adrian.

As soon as she entered Hailey’s room, a pillow flew her way, accompanied by Hailey's cries.

"Get out! I don't want to see anyone. Just leave!"

Mrs. Watson frowned. "Hailey, can't you maintain some dignity?"

"What dignity?"

Hailey sat up on the bed, clutching a pillow as she wept.

"Mommy, everyone is mocking me now. They say I’m a failed gold digger and just a plaything for Adrian!"

In the past few days, Adrian had called Hailey several times, explaining that he had been set up and that it was a misunderstanding. Those words, however, contradicted his public statement that the man in the video was merely a lookalike. These inconsistencies exposed the truth.

Hailey had no desire to marry Adrian now, but he was handsome, wealthy, the eldest son of the Harrington family; favored by Henry and the Windsor family’s patriarch.

Currently, the entire nation knew that she was going to marry Adrian. If she canceled the engagement now, it would surely cause a bigger scandal. Not only that, but she would become the target of mockery. Once the real reason for the canceled engagement surfaced, she would become the national laughingstock.

For this reason, until she found a man with a better background and appearance, she could not break things off with Adrian.

"You’re upset?" Mrs. Watson asked coldly before she continued, "Well, let me tell you something even more upsetting."

Hailey looked at her tearfully.

"We saw a man today who looked exactly like Oliver from behind, wearing the same wedding ring. Perhaps Oliver had never been disfigured."

"Never been disfigured?"

Oliver’s mind instantly appeared in Hailey's mind, and she felt a pang of regret. However, Oliver could not compare to Adrian, who had the support of his family. She kept telling herself that the man her mother met could not have been Oliver. She could not stand the thought of Natalie having the upper hand.

“Mom, did you take a photo?”

Indeed, Mrs. Watson took a photo earlier. Although the distance was considerable, the phone's high resolution allowed them to clearly see the tall man, who held Natalie in his arms.

‘Their height difference matches that of Oliver and Natalie!’

That man had been by Natalie’s side, and when she revealed that Natalie was married, that man did not seem to care at all. How could a man not care about such matters? Most importantly, how could there be such a coincidence in the world?

Hailey was consumed by anger.

Seeing Hailey in a daze, Mrs. Watson feared she had gone too far with her words, so she said worriedly, "Hailey, I didn’t mean to scold you. I just want you to stand strong. If I had given up easily in the past, I might not be the lady of this household today. Wealthy men always have mistresses; what matters is how you handle it. Besides, the Harrington family has compensated you with a villa and a Ferrari."

A million-dollar villa and a five-million-dollar Ferrari were the reasons Mrs. Watson had backed down.

“Even if Oliver isn’t disfigured, he still lacks support from the Harrington and Windsor families. Don't be too upset."

"Mom, you don't understand!"

Hailey clutched her hair. She was the one who forced Natalie to marry Oliver. She would not be able to accept it if Oliver was not sick, disfigured, and ordinary.

After a moment, an idea appeared in Hailey’s mind.

‘Perhaps I can mend things with him! Once I confirm that they’re one and the same person, I’ll pursue him!’

With her status in her family, looks, and figures, she believed that Oliver would not be able to remain indifferent once he learned she was his original bride. She could not help but shiver in excitement when she thought about conquering such a man.
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
