Chapter 100: You Guys Are so in Love
Ethan had never seen anything like this before.
His blood ran cold.
He watched the woman who was supposed to be his, making out with another guy in the kitchen. If there weren't guests around, who knew how far they would've gone!
Ethan felt a chill in his heart but played it cool. "You two are really into each other! I'm just here for some cold water."
He grabbed two bottles from the fridge and gave them a little shake.
The tension was thick.
Frederick, unfazed, seemed to have lost all his earlier worries.
He set Charlotte down and, right in front of Ethan, adjusted his clothes, especially his belt and pants, then flashed an apologetic smile. "Ethan, I'm gonna take a shower. Make yourself at home."
With that, he left them alone.
Charlotte knew he did it on purpose.
After he left, she didn't want to talk to Ethan either and silently started preparing food.
She was about to close the fridge door but was stopped.
Ethan bent down, staring at Charlotte, getting very close.
Charlotte took a step back.
He sneered, "Charlotte, no need to be so scared of me! We still need to get along as a family, right? Looks like he's really into you!"
With that, he slammed the fridge door and walked out.
Charlotte figured he was having a rough time and taking it out on her. She was speechless.
She thought she should talk to Frederick later; she didn't want to see Ethan. Just as she was feeling annoyed, Frederick came in and naturally hugged her from behind, whispering, "What are you making?"
Charlotte tried to push him away.
He insisted on holding her, but his hands roamed on her body.
Charlotte's face heated up, and she softly said, "I made pasta for them and pan-fried some foie gras."
Frederick kissed her ear and asked in a husky voice, "What about mine?"
Charlotte turned her face slightly, leaned on his shoulder, and softly said, "Your stomach isn't good. I heated up some roasted chicken wings and made some oatmeal for you."
Frederick gazed at her, then gently kissed her lips.
At that moment, Charlotte felt happiness.
She came from a middle-class family and never had grand ambitions. All she wanted was a decent job and a perfect family.
She knew she shouldn't think this way, but she really enjoyed living with Frederick.
Chloe couldn't stop praising the food during dinner.
She not only finished her portion but also took Frederick's oatmeal, her cheeks puffed out as she ate. "Charlotte, I'll come again next time."
Charlotte smiled faintly.
Her relationship with Frederick gave her no standing to stop Chloe from coming over.
Frederick glanced at his sister. "If you eat like this every day, who will marry you when you get fat?"
Chloe leaned on Ethan's shoulder, softly whining, "Ethan will marry me."
Ethan couldn't help but look at Charlotte.
Charlotte turned her head away.
She wasn't jealous or afraid to look; she just didn't see the need.
Frederick seemed oblivious to the subtle atmosphere. He leaned on the sofa, gently playing with one of Charlotte's hands, while charmingly smiling and discussing stocks and trends with Ethan, even offering some advice.
Charlotte admired him; she couldn't do that if she had been him!
In the end, it was Ethan who couldn't hold on and had to leave.
Frederick personally saw them downstairs. As they left, he gently said to Charlotte, "Clean up tomorrow. You go take a shower first; I'll join you later."
Ethan quickened his pace.
Frederick put his hands in his pockets, watching Ethan's back, a faint smile playing on his lips.
