Chapter 266 Frederick, No
So, around 2 PM, Frederick swung by the villa to grab Charlotte, then headed over to the kindergarten to pick up little Lola.
The kindergarten teacher, Rose Gray, beamed and said, "Lola, your mom and dad are here to get you!"
Lola, rocking a cute floral dress and her golden curls, proudly announced, "My mom and dad are taking me to get wedding photos!"
Rose chuckled. "Alright, let's get you to them!"
She held Lola's hand, a bit reluctant to let go when she handed her over to Frederick.
Lola waved her tiny hand. "See ya tomorrow, Ms. Gray!"
Once in the car, Lola stared at Charlotte's belly and asked, "Mom, when's my little brother coming out? Will he be here after I take a good nap?"
Charlotte was stumped.
Frederick buckled up and grinned. "You gotta take a lot of naps before your little brother shows up!"
Lola looked a bit bummed.
But she quickly perked up. "The kids at kindergarten said their dads work hard planting carrots every night to get babies! Dad, did you plant carrots in Mom's belly too?"
Charlotte's cheeks turned pink.
Frederick was about to start the car when he heard that and glanced in the rearview mirror, catching Charlotte's eye.
He had a half-smile, full of mischief.
Charlotte's face got even redder.
Frederick let it slide, gently pressed the gas pedal, and told Lola, "The kids got it a bit wrong! You'll get it when you're older, Lola!"
Frederick focused on driving, staying quiet with his wife and daughter in the car.
Half an hour later, they pulled up at a fancy bridal shop.
As soon as they stopped, the manager came over, all smiles. "Mr. Hawkins, Mrs. Hawkins, we've cleared the place just for you to give you the best service!"
Frederick nodded slightly. He carried Lola out of the car, and she was super excited, bouncing around next to her mom.
Her mom had picked out a super cute dress for her.
On the second floor, the staff led them to try on their wedding outfits.
Frederick quickly changed into a black velvet suit with a white pleated shirt underneath.
He looked sharp and classy!
A few young staff members couldn't help but sneak peeks.
Frederick didn't seem to notice. He sat in the VIP area, flipping through a magazine, waiting for Charlotte and Lola to finish changing. Lola came out first. She wore a light champagne-colored puffy dress, her golden curls neatly styled with a headband, looking absolutely adorable.
It was Lola's first time dressing up so fancy.
Lola felt a bit shy and snuggled into her dad's arms.
One of the staff smiled and said, "The little one is so adorable! She looks just like her mom!"
Frederick looked down at Lola, feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. He held her tiny hand and walked over to the full-length mirror. Lola stared at her reflection.
'She really is pretty! And Dad looks super handsome too!' Lola's eyes sparkled.
Frederick was about to say something when the changing room door opened, and Charlotte walked out gracefully.
Frederick's breath caught.
Even though he'd seen her in a million charming moments, this one still stunned him.
The white wedding dress fit her perfectly, showing off her slender waist, with a skirt of intricate, luxurious lace.
Her long hair was gently pinned up, and she wore the pearl earrings he had given her.
She looked soft and beautiful!
Frederick couldn't help but gently caress her neck and whispered, "You look amazing!"
The staff blushed a little.
The scene before them was enough to inspire a thousand words.
Charlotte blushed and whispered, "We're not at home; you should restrain yourself!"
Frederick chuckled softly and lowered his voice. "So I don't need to restrain myself at home. Is that what you mean?"
Just then, the photographer arrived, and everyone got to work.
Charlotte was pregnant, and Frederick didn't want her to get tired, so he signed a contract to shoot for only two hours. Luckily, both the bride and groom were photogenic, and the little one was too, so two hours were plenty!
After the shoot, the photographer reviewed the photos and smiled. "If it weren't for Mr. Hawkins' status, I'd really want to use these as an advertisement!"
Frederick smiled faintly. He patted Lola and gently said to Charlotte, "Go remove your makeup and change clothes. I'll take you both out to eat!"
Lola loved eating out the most. She immediately ran into the changing room to take off her little dress. While waiting for Charlotte, the manager brought her a small ball to play with, and Lola was quite happy, playing with it the whole time!
Frederick sat on the sofa, handling business on his phone.
Lola came over, frowning. "Dad, the ball rolled inside the changing room!"
Frederick put away his phone and walked to the door of Charlotte's changing room, gently knocking. "Charlotte."
Inside, there was no response.
But there seemed to be the sound of a ball, bouncing up and down.
Frederick gripped the door handle and turned it, but it didn't open!
His heart sank, and he immediately shielded Lola behind him, then kicked the door forcefully.
The sturdy door shook and then burst open with a bang!
As the door swung open, Frederick's breath almost stopped. Two staff members were tied to chairs, their mouths stuffed with rags, while Charlotte was being held hostage by Katherine, a sharp blade pressed against her throat. Bright red blood seeped out.
"Katherine!"
Katherine was wearing the shop's uniform, her body too frail to fill it out. Her face was gaunt, and she looked completely lifeless, a far cry from her former glamour.
Katherine's smile was chilling.
"Frederick, didn't expect me to get out, did you?"
"I wanted to see you, but you refused. I had to attempt suicide, and those idiots sent me to the hospital. I put in some effort, and now here I am. Are you surprised?"
She suddenly screamed, "Frederick, you're so cruel! To save your daughter, you almost drained all my blood! Do you know the pain of convulsions from blood loss? You don't. You only care about this bitch and her child!"
Lola was scared and started crying!
Frederick's voice was calm. "Lola, go downstairs."
Lola, being young, cried for her mom!
Frederick's face was stern, but his voice was extremely gentle. "Be good."
Lola's little mouth trembled as she looked at her mom. Charlotte was in pain from being restrained, but she tried to speak calmly, "Listen to your dad."
Lola, with tears in her eyes, took a few steps back and ran downstairs.
Katherine sneered. "How touching!"
Frederick clenched his fingers, staring intently at Charlotte, then shifted his gaze to Katherine. "What do you want?"
"What do I want?" Katherine laughed maniacally.
She looked at Frederick, her eyes suddenly filled with affection. "I want to go back to the way things were! Frederick, my biggest regret is that foolish period. Will you forgive me? If you forgive me and reconcile with me, I'll let her go!"
Frederick's face was expressionless. "Okay, I forgive you."
Katherine threw her head back and laughed.
Suddenly, her voice turned vicious again. "You're lying! You just want to save this bitch!"
As she spoke, she tightened her grip on the blade.
Blood trickled down, staining the white wedding dress red.
Charlotte's slender throat tensed.
She didn't dare to breathe; one more inch and she would be dead. She didn't dare to call out to Frederick, fearing it would provoke Katherine!
Katherine suddenly laughed again. "Actually, I don't want to kill her. If I kill her, you'll remember her forever!"
She pulled out a syringe from her pocket. Inside was yellowish liquid.
She threw it at Frederick's feet and coldly said, "Frederick, I'll give you a chance! Inject this into yourself, and I'll let her go! This is good stuff; with one shot, you'll slowly forget Charlotte and your deep love for her!"
Katherine finished speaking and laughed maniacally.
Charlotte couldn't hold back anymore. She struggled and shouted, "Frederick, no! You can't inject it; you can't!"
She wasn't afraid he'd forget her.
She was afraid this would take Frederick's life!
Frederick's Adam's apple bobbed. He stared at Charlotte and said in a deep voice, "Don't move."
He needed to buy time.
Katherine was crazy; she could kill Charlotte if she was provoked. He loved Charlotte and their child; Charlotte couldn't be harmed, even if it meant sacrificing himself!
He bent down to pick up the syringe, his handsome face resolute. "I'll do it!"
Charlotte was in tears. "Frederick, no."
Katherine's face twisted with excitement. She stared at Frederick. "Do it now, or I'll kill her immediately! 1, 2, 3."
Frederick took off his jacket and rolled up his shirt sleeve.
His arm was well-defined, strong, and had embraced Charlotte countless nights. But now, the thin needle pierced his flesh, and the yellow liquid slowly injected.
Everything seemed to freeze.
In his world, there were only Charlotte's tear-filled eyes.
'Charlotte, I'm sorry for always making you sad! Charlotte, don't cry. Your tears break my heart. This is nothing compared to the pain I've caused you; it really doesn't hurt much! Charlotte, that master said I have shallow kinship ties, and I believed it! I was anxious, but I didn't expect the separation to come so quickly! Charlotte, if I really get to reincarnate, I'll come back to find you! Charlotte, don't cry! Charlotte, I can't speak, but I hope you know. I love you!'
His vision blurred.
Frederick saw the building across the street, dark, followed by a muffled sound.
Katherine was hit!
The entrance was slowly being surrounded.
Katherine fell into a pool of blood, her eyes open, with a strange smile on her lips. 'Charlotte, if I can't have him, neither can you!'
Charlotte stood there, covered in blood.
Frederick dropped the syringe and walked over to her, holding her tightly, almost hurting her with his strength!
"I'm fine! Frederick, I'm fine!"
Charlotte lifted his arm. "How do you feel? We need to go to the hospital immediately!"
Frederick closed his eyes slightly and softly said, "Okay."
On the first floor, Lola saw them and immediately ran over, sobbing and calling for her mom and dad. Frederick picked her up, his voice hoarse yet gentle. "It's okay now. Lola, it's okay."
Lola cried hard.
Mom had so much blood on her; she was scared and heartbroken.
Patrick and Laura also arrived.
Frederick left Charlotte and Lola in Laura's care., then went with Patrick to the top hospital in the city. Charlotte wanted to go with them, but Frederick insisted she stay with Lola.
