Chapter 661 Amara, Let's Get Married!

On the other end of the line, Caitlyn's sobs were loud and clear.

Amara, who had been moping around because of Zachary, snapped back to reality. She asked softly, "Where are you? I'll come over."

Caitlyn, always the drama queen, sniffled, "Who needs you? I'm fine."

Amara shook her head, a small smile playing on her lips. "How about I just want to hang out with you, Ms. Robinson?"

Finally, Caitlyn let out a little laugh, her voice still thick with tears. "You're the one begging me! I didn't ask for this!"

Amara sighed. "Yep, I'm desperate to see you!"

She hung up and glanced at the inpatient ward before gently pressing the gas pedal and driving off. She picked up some medicine on the way and headed straight to Caitlyn's hotel.

In the office, Caitlyn's secretary whispered, "Ms. Robinson cried for quite a while! Mrs. Carter is so unreasonable. Ms. Robinson is a decent person!"

The secretary had a point. Caitlyn was beautiful, and given the Robinson Group's debt situation, many people wanted to take advantage of her. However, Caitlyn had never been involved with anyone.

Amara nodded and asked her to leave.

Caitlyn, tear-streaked, was curled up in her office chair, her desk a complete mess of documents. When Amara walked in, Caitlyn barely lifted her eyelids before dropping them again, clearly still upset. Amara didn't push her and instead started tidying up the desk.

Caitlyn shifted, curling up like a kitten, her voice soft and fragile. "You just love cleaning up, don't you? Addicted to being Landon's secretary?"

After tidying up, Amara half-sat on the desk in front of Caitlyn.

Caitlyn glared at her. "Quite the seductress!"

Amara patted her hand. "Be a good girl."

Caitlyn muttered, "I'm not a child. You always treat me like Jesse!"

Amara replied, her voice carrying a hint of playful mockery. "I don't argue with kids!"

Caitlyn thought, 'I'm older than you!'

But the tender care felt so reassuring that she chose to remain silent. She allowed Amara to apply medicine to her face. As soon as Amara's fingers brushed against her skin, Caitlyn yelped in response.

Amara asked, "Does it hurt a lot?"

Caitlyn bit her lip. "Of course! But I didn't dare fight back. If I had hurt her baby and she accuses me, I won't be able to bear the consequences!"

Amara hesitated. "They had an argument just now, and Mr. Carter hit her."

Amara didn't say more, wanting Caitlyn to feel better.

Caitlyn was stunned for a moment, then looked up at Amara and said softly, "Actually, whether their relationship is good or not has nothing to do with me anymore! No matter how bad it is, they are still legally married and have a baby, while I have nothing!"

Saying this, she felt it was pointless.

She continued, "It's all in the past! I need to stay away from him! Amara, I know he's helped me a lot these past few months. The investments from Kingsley were his idea, right? I owe him a favor, but this time I've decided to be ungrateful. After all, he wronged me first."

Amara smiled gently. "Alright! Mr. Carter doesn't care about these things."

Caitlyn got angry. "You're just defending him."

Amara's calm demeanor didn't waver, remaining patient with her. Caitlyn, feeling a bit embarrassed, spoke stubbornly, "You have to keep me company today! And have dinner with me. Kingsley can't have any objections."

Amara agreed, needing some time to process everything after seeing Zachary. Later that evening, she returned to the villa around eight.

The villa was brightly lit. In the parking lot, Kingsley's usual Rolls-Royce Phantom was parked, indicating he was back.

Amara sat in the car for a while. The villa's front door swung open, and Jesse came barreling out, with Nicole hot on his heels.

Jesse tripped and tumbled onto the grass. Nicole rushed over, scooping him up and giving his little butt a gentle pat. Jesse clung to Nicole, milking the moment for all it was worth.

Amara's heart melted as she got out of the car and walked over.

Jesse's little butt still stung, but when he spotted Amara, he wobbled over, arms outstretched, wanting her to hold him. His small body leaped into Amara's arms.

Amara squatted down, hugging him gently. The warmth of his little body silently mended her heart. Nicole came over too, leaning against Amara.

"Dad came by today," Nicole said, "and brought a big bag of seafood. Mr. Hawkins is whipping up a feast."

Amara was surprised. After the whole Billy incident, Kingsley had pretty much written him off. Why would he accept his stuff now?

But Amara knew better than to discuss adult matters in front of the kids. She carried Jesse and led Nicole back inside. After settling the two kids, she went upstairs to change and then headed to the kitchen.

Kingsley was busy preparing a dish with mantis shrimp. Seeing Amara come in, he sprinkled some pepper salt on the fried shrimp and asked gently, "They're super fresh. Want to try some?"

Amara walked over and asked softly, "Why are you cooking yourself?"

He just looked at her reddened eyes for a moment before saying, "Did you see Zachary at the hospital today?"

Amara's eyes widened. "Did you have someone follow me?"

Kingsley didn't deny it. He started on another dish, speaking calmly, "Zachary might be dying, but I won't be at ease until he's truly gone! Am I wrong to protect you and Jesse?"

Amara had no comeback. She simply said, "No."

Kingsley smiled and focused on cooking. Only then did Amara really look at him. He was still in his white shirt and dress pants. Even in the kitchen, he looked incredibly dignified, as if he were subtly playing up his allure.

After a while, he finally spoke again, "It's really good. Try it."

Amara ate a shrimp. It was indeed delicious, tender and flavorful. After finishing, she said, "Hand me the tissues over there."

Kingsley turned to her, staring for a long moment. Finally, he turned off the stove, gently pinched her chin, and leaned in to kiss her. At first, Amara resisted, worried that the servants might walk in at any moment. But Kingsley was quite assertive in such matters.

After a while, she forgot herself and wrapped her arms around his waist.

Kingsley's waist was firm to the touch, and holding him was intoxicating. After the kiss, Amara leaned against his chest. Kingsley whispered, "This meal is to comfort you! Have you been crying?"

"No."

"You cried yourself and then comforted Caitlyn for Landon," Kingsley teased her for being a little crybaby.

Amara felt a flush of embarrassment creep up her cheeks, unable to endure hearing him soothe her as if he were soothing a child. She found an excuse to leave, and Kingsley let her go, watching her back for a long time.

He knew about Zachary's plans and that the Hughes Group wanted Amara to take over, but she had refused.

Late at night, Jesse and Nicole were asleep. Amara had just taken a shower and was about to go to bed when she found Kingsley lying on her bed, absentmindedly playing with Jesse's hair.

Seeing her come out, his eyes darkened.

These days, he occasionally slept here, mainly to keep Jesse company, so Amara didn't think much of it. She quietly lay down behind Kingsley, gently wrapping her arms around his firm waist and whispered, "Sleeping here tonight?"

Kingsley caught her hand.

Amara blushed deeply and struggled lightly, "You'll wake Jesse!"

He turned around, their faces so close that his nose brushed against hers, their breaths mingling. The unique scent of him made Amara's body go weak.

Kingsley looked into her eyes and said, "I really want you right now, Amara. Don't you feel the same?"

Amara was at a loss for words.

In private, Kingsley was always blunt. "Seeing you like this, I want to make love to you every night."

Amara couldn't stand hearing these words, but she could feel his desire. Their relationship had been good lately, and she didn't want to make him hold back. She gently wrapped her arms around his neck and whispered, "Let's go to your room."

Kingsley's eyes darkened with desire. He moved closer, pressing his face against hers, letting her feel his warmth.

Amara's body trembled involuntarily, her voice breaking, "Kingsley."

His lips lightly touched her neck, sending shivers down her spine.

By the time Amara was carried into the adjacent bedroom, her bathrobe was almost off. They made love with an unrestrained fervor at the foot of the bed, their urgency and passion intertwining.

During these moments, her eyes were bright, focused on him.

"Does it feel good?" Kingsley bit his cheek, his face flushed, exuding a sensual allure. Amara felt a surge of desire.

After making love, it was nearly midnight. Amara felt tired and took a bath. Kingsley, after his shower, leaned against the headboard and smoked a cigarette. When Amara came in, he immediately put out the cigarette and reached out for her.

Amara leaned into his arms, her body soft.

They quietly enjoyed the post-coital afterglow for a while. After a long time, he stroked her soft hair and said softly, "Dad called me this afternoon, asking when I would propose to you. He thinks I'm too slow and useless!"

Amara looked up and asked softly, "Do you want to get married? But I'm not ready yet!"

Kingsley laughed, "Honey, you can't make me wait any longer; I'm already so eager."

Amara felt shy and pinched his waist lightly, rekindling Kingsley's desire. He said, "Do you want to do it again?"

When Kingsley spoke of this, Amara still had some complaints. "Other men aren't like you! Kingsley, are you too energetic?"

He turned over and kissed her, breathless after a while. "Have you made love with other people?"

She caressed his well-defined features, slowly brushing away the hair falling on his forehead, and said deliberately, "I kind of want to try it!"

Kingsley laughed instead of getting angry. He leaned into her ear and said a dirty talk, "Little slut."

Amara's eyes sparkled.

Kingsley knew she liked it when he talked dirty to her in bed. He pulled the blanket away and started making love to her again, saying, "When I call you that, you get turned on? Do you think about making love to me all the time?"

Amara turned her face away. "Stop talking!"

Kingsley kissed her and murmured those teasing words. "You say no, but your body doesn't lie. You're aroused again, aren't you?"

Men probably liked this more. This time, Kingsley was much rougher. In the end, Amara lay in his arms, drowsy, not even wanting to take a bath.

She patted his shoulder. "Go sleep with Jesse! He kicks the blanket at night."

Kingsley, however, picked her up and took her to the master bedroom. As Amara was about to fall asleep, a ring slipped onto her finger. She woke up and raised her hand to see it.

Kingsley hugged her from behind, his voice hoarse. "Will you marry me?"

Amara could hardly refuse, and felt she wasn't very reserved.

Kingsley held her gently and said, "Jesse is about to start school. We made love four times tonight, Ms. Butler. Isn't it a bit late to talk about being reserved now?"

Amara turned around in his arms. He was tall and slender, and she felt small and safe in his embrace. She leaned on his shoulder for a long time before saying softly, "I also bought you a ring, but the diamond isn't as big as this one!"

Kingsley gently entwined their fingers. He laughed, "I don't mind!"

Amara blushed, gently leaning against his neck and feeling his pulse, which made her heart beat faster and feel at ease.

In the morning, she woke up to the sound of voices downstairs. Listening carefully, she realized it was Billy.

Occasionally, she could hear Kingsley's low and elegant voice. They seemed to be having a pleasant conversation, which puzzled Amara. By rights, Kingsley shouldn't be getting along so well with Billy now!

Jesse wasn't in bed either; he must have gotten up.

Amara turned over, lying flat on her back as she raised her hand to admire the ring on her finger. Thinking about last night's events, she felt a bit sweet. She seemed to be quite aroused now. Kingsley said he wanted to make love every night, and truth be told, she often felt the same.

When Kingsley wasn't around, she could manage her impulses well enough. But the moment they shared a bed, her desire would quickly ignite. However, she was too shy to admit it, so he always took the initiative.

After a simple wash, Amara changed clothes and went downstairs.

She noted that the children had already eaten and that Billy and Kingsley were seated at the dining table. Kingsley was drinking black coffee, looking leisurely, with a newspaper in hand.

Billy was talking a lot about his business ideas, hoping Kingsley would invest a modest sum—no more than four hundred thousand dollars—assuring him it would definitely be profitable.

Kingsley looked up and asked politely, "Why didn't you ask Amara?"

Billy immediately deflated, looking dejected. "To be honest, ever since I did that thing to Naomi, Amara hasn't paid much attention to me, and neither has Nicole! None of the four women at home talk to me. I don't know if I'm overthinking, but even Snowflake barks at me when it sees me!"

Kingsley, always composed as a young man from a wealthy family, almost lost his cool while drinking coffee but managed to keep his emotions in check.

Kingsley looked up and saw Amara coming downstairs. His gaze immediately softened, filled with affection. "Why are you up? Don't you want to sleep a bit more?"

Amara slowly came downstairs and seated herself at the dining table. She poured herself a glass of milk before asking Billy, "You want to do business?"

Since the last incident, Billy had been afraid of her. He stumbled over his words, unable to articulate a clear response under her scrutinizing gaze. His embarrassed look made Kingsley feel great, but he still pretended to be sincere. "You can ask Amara if you have any requests. She's very familiar with this business and has a lot of resources."

Billy had always been timid and looked at Amara's face.

Hailey brought over breakfast, giving Billy a glare. "Finish eating and go drive the truck. Stop dreaming about getting rich all the time. If it happens again, I don't think you'll survive!"

Billy didn't dare make a sound and slunk away.

Amara said to Hailey, "Billy having ambition is a good thing!"

Hailey hesitated. She genuinely didn't want to burden Amara anymore. Amara was doing well now and about to marry Kingsley. It would be really bad for Amara if Billy kept interfering between them because of his own troubles. She planned to send Billy back to her hometown.

At this moment, Kingsley said calmly, "Amara is right! It's a good thing!"

He wiped his lips with a napkin, a satisfied smile playing on his face as he stood up, leaning in to plant a gentle kiss on her lips. "I'll wait for you in the car! Shall we go get our marriage license later?"
