Chapter 666 He Would Stop at Nothing to Get Her
On the night of the engagement, Kingsley was determined not to hold back. When he promised four times, he fully intended to deliver. By the end, Amara's voice was hoarse from crying during sex, but he showed no mercy.
Early in the morning, Amara woke up. Kingsley was still in bed, his upper body bare, and the lower half covered by a thin blanket.
"Awake, Mrs. Hawkins?" Kingsley loved teasing her like this, his voice filled with amusement. He propped his head on one hand, casually playing with her body, his handsome face exuding the charm of a mature man.
Amara blushed slightly and gently pushed him away. "Stop it!"
Kingsley chuckled and continued to play with her, his blue eyes deep. "Are you aroused?"
Amara wouldn't admit it. She lifted the blanket and grabbed his bathrobe from last night. Wrapping herself in it, she made her way towards the bathroom. "It's late; we should get up!"
Although she also wanted to be alone with him, it was inconvenient with two kids at home.
While she was washing in the bathroom, a pair of hands reached out from behind and hugged her. His hands helped her bathe without any other intentions. Amara paused for a moment but didn't resist.
After she finished her bath, he dried her with a towel and said with barely concealed desire, "When we have the wedding, let's leave the kids at home and go on a proper honeymoon."
Amara replied softly, "What about your company? Won't you care?"
Kingsley, dissatisfied, lightly bit her on her fair skin. "Can't you avoid saying such buzzkill things at this moment?"
Amara smiled. Kingsley was truly at an age where he was constantly aroused. Holding her like this naturally stirred his desire. Inevitably, he kissed and embraced her before letting go. Then they both rested.
After breakfast, Amara took the two kids to a nearby park, while Kingsley had a crucial project to handle and had a video conference in the morning.
In the small park, Nicole and Jesse played happily, and Snowflake was joyfully bouncing around.
Amara was dressed warmly. The buttons of her white shirt were fastened tightly because Kingsley had nibbled her all over last night. She felt ashamed looking in the mirror this morning and decided to make him restrain himself in the future.
She watched the two kids tenderly, their little hands holding each other. She touched her lower abdomen, feeling a bit hopeful.
Kingsley seemed to really like girls. He was very good to Nicole, and if they had a daughter, he would definitely dote on her. They were about to tie the knot, and having another kid sounded like a great idea.
Just then, Nicole came running over with Jesse, throwing herself into Amara's arms without a word, her eyes filled with tears.
Amara found it odd and looked up to see Billy, holding a live rabbit in a cute pink cage in one hand and a bag of rabbit food in the other, looking pretty ridiculous.
Nicole ignored him, and Billy had no choice but to come over, scratching his head and smiling awkwardly at Amara. "I went to your house and asked around to find out you were here."
He squatted down and tried to coax Nicole, "Didn't you always want a rabbit? I got one for you."
Nicole still wouldn't pay him any attention, clutching Amara's hand tightly.
Amara sighed softly and said to Billy, "She's still young and sensitive. Don't push her too hard!"
Billy didn't dare to argue.
Amara patted Jesse. "Go play with Nicole over there."
Even though Nicole was young, she knew that with Amara around, her dad wouldn't do anything, so she relaxed a bit and went to play with Jesse, still ignoring the rabbit.
With the kids playing nearby, Billy sat on a fake rock next to Amara. He rubbed his hands. "What should I do? Nicole won't talk to me! She's got her mom's temper."
Amara looked at the rabbit and said, "You can't blame them. It's your own fault! Naomi letting you see Nicole again is for Hailey's sake. Otherwise, she would have taken Nicole back to her hometown long ago."
Billy replied, "Yeah, I know."
Amara didn't want to talk to him anymore and brought up another matter. "I heard from Kingsley that he lent you four million dollars to start a car dealership. Billy, I don't oppose you doing business, but isn't investing so much at once a bit too much?"
Billy blushed and lowered his head, mumbling, "Kingsley insisted on giving it to me."
Amara found it strange. Why would Kingsley insist on giving him money? She felt Billy wasn't being honest.
Billy's expression was odd. He was afraid Amara would ask more questions, so he quickly changed the subject.
Amara didn't press further. After all, it was their business, and she shouldn't interfere too much.
When she took the two kids back, Billy shamelessly followed, hoping to have lunch and bond with Nicole. But as soon as they reached the villa's hall, Kingsley gracefully descended the stairs, leaving Billy speechless.
Billy looked up at him and, after a long pause, stammered, "Amara, I'll come for lunch another day! I'm leaving!"
Then he shoved the rabbit cage into Amara's hands. Amara was puzzled, but Billy had already bolted.
She turned to Kingsley. "Why is Billy so scared of you?"
Kingsley rolled up his shirt sleeves and said casually, "Maybe because I'm his creditor?"
Amara looked thoughtful. "He doesn't seem like the type to get scared easily."
Kingsley chuckled. He glanced at the cage in Amara's hand, took it, examined it carefully, and then looked at Amara. "Not as pretty as you."
Amara stayed silent.
A couple of days later, Amara got off work. Just as she was about to get into her car, Ralph stepped out of another white car. He got straight to the point. "Amara, I need to talk to you for a few minutes."
After everything that had happened, Amara didn't want to have any more entanglements with him. She refused outright. "No need! By the way, I'll donate the gift you sent."
Ralph's gaze was intense. After a moment, he spoke softly, "Are you still mad about back then? But Amara, it was my stepping aside that made way for you and Kingsley. If I had insisted on not breaking up, what could you have done?"
Ignoring him, Amara opened the door of the white Bentley and was about to get in when Ralph hurriedly grabbed her hand.
He immediately let go and then smiled bitterly. "I'm going abroad to a sparsely populated country. I heard from the HR department that it was Mr. Hawkins' idea. I guess it's because of the gift I sent! Amara, I just want to talk to you. There are some things you probably don't know, like the last time with Billy. Don't you find it strange? How could Billy get involved in such a lucrative business, make that kind of money, and coincidentally get involved with the boss's lover? With his looks, would any woman like him?"
Amara's voice was cold. "What are you getting at?"
In the end, they sat down in a café across from the company.
Ralph handed Amara a recording pen and smiled. "I have a good relationship with the vice president of the Hawkins Group, Mr. Church. I recorded what he said when he was drunk. Kingsley orchestrated Billy's money-making schemes and his involvement with the woman. When Billy was caught and faced losing his hand, Kingsley arranged his rescue."
Amara looked at him quietly for a few seconds and then turned on the recording pen.
She recognized Tristan Church's voice. Although the recording was intermittent, she could understand the meaning. Finally, Tristan stammered, "Billy acts like a docile little lamb in front of Mr. Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins gave him four million dollars in compensation, and he didn't dare say anything. He wanted to get close to his wife, but his wife wouldn't pay him any attention!"
Ralph smirked. "Did you hear that, Amara? Mr. Hawkins isn't what you think he is. He's a despicable and shameless man! He'll stop at nothing to get your forgiveness."
Amara lowered her eyes, turned off the recording pen, and gently pushed it back to Ralph.
Ralph was shocked. "You're not angry or going to question him?"
Amara said calmly, "It has nothing to do with you."
She got up to leave, and Ralph suddenly asked from behind, "If I had switched places with him, would you have fallen for me instead? You wouldn't, right, Amara?"
Amara paused for a moment. After a while, she said, "Actually, I never liked you."
Ralph's face turned pale, and he nearly wobbled. He didn't even know why he did this today. He could have pretended not to know, but he still offended Kingsley. He didn't know what his fate would be.
Deep inside, Ralph harbored a lingering resentment, a jealousy of Kingsley's success and the love Amara had for him. He also wanted to know if Amara would have liked him if he had everything.
Amara got into the car. She sat quietly for a while, and then Kingsley called. He asked directly, "Did you see Ralph?"
Amara said, "Yes, you're still having people follow me? Kingsley, no one likes being followed."
Kingsley paused. "What did he say?"
Amara thought for about two minutes and then said, "Let's go to the apartment! I'm craving your grilled lamb chops."
Kingsley, being very perceptive, sensed the tone in her voice and asked, "Are you angry?"
Amara countered, "Why would you think I'm angry?"
They both fell silent on the phone.
After a long while, Kingsley spoke softly and gently. "We'll talk about it later, okay? Drive safely."
Amara replied softly, "Okay," and hung up the phone.
She thought that the reason she was so calm was not that she wasn't angry, but because her feelings for Kingsley outweighed her rationality.
She started the car and drove to the apartment they used to live in. When she opened the door, Kingsley was standing there quietly looking at her. Amara smelled the aroma of grilled lamb chops. He said cheerfully, "I also opened a bottle of red wine!"
Amara put her bag down at the entrance and said while changing her shoes, "From your words, I sense a tone of atonement."
Kingsley wrapped his arms around her waist. His high-bridged nose brushed against hers, gently rubbing, his voice soft. "Did Ralph say something that I need to atone for?"
