Chapter 301 Frederick Started Pursuing Her
The next morning, Kingsley got the all-clear from the hospital.
Charlotte was there, packing his stuff, bending over just a bit.
Her waist was slim, and her back had this sexy curve.
He still remembered what it felt like to touch her.
The nanny took Kingsley out, leaving just the two of them. Frederick had something on his mind he needed to tell Charlotte.
He gently put his hand on her shoulder and asked softly, "Charlotte, if I get my memory back, can we rebuild what we once had?"
Charlotte froze; she didn't know how to answer.
If she said yes, it would give him hope.
If she said no, it would break her heart.
She stayed quiet for a long time, and Frederick got the message.
He gently stroked her shoulder and back, then let go. "I'll go handle the discharge papers."
Frederick left.
Charlotte stared at the stuff in her hands, lost in thought.
Back at the villa, Kingsley was bouncing back pretty well.
Over the next month, Charlotte was all about taking care of Kingsley, and Keith and Jenna brought over a ton of documents.
Frederick dropped by a lot and often ran into Keith.
He could tell Keith had a thing for Charlotte.
Maybe out of pride, he never brought it up; he just kept coming around to hang with Lola and Kingsley.
He was there so much, he saw the kids more than he did before the split.
Charlotte didn't stop him from seeing the kids, but she didn't give him any chances either.
He often brought her gifts.
Whether it was from a business trip or just something he thought she'd like.
Charlotte locked them all away in a drawer.
One day, after talking business with Keith and seeing him off, she came back home to find Frederick still there, chilling on the sofa with a business mag, looking like he owned the place.
Charlotte watched him for a few seconds.
Then she sat on the sofa across from him and said calmly, "You come here every day; don't you have your own life?"
She didn't mind him spending time with the kids, but she knew this wasn't normal.
Frederick clearly didn't see himself as an outsider.
After she asked, Frederick put down the mag, his blue eyes locking onto hers for a long time before he casually said, "What? You want a personal life?"
Charlotte didn't dodge the question. "We're divorced! We should both have our own lives!"
She was so straightforward he couldn't even get mad.
As it got late, he left first.
Charlotte felt a bit worn out.
Late at night, she slowly went upstairs.
She and Frederick were divorced, but because of the kids, he was always around, but it was different now.
At least there wouldn't be any more drama messing with her.
Charlotte went into the master bedroom, took off her clothes, and got ready for a bath.
But she found a champagne rose on the pillow.
This was Frederick's thing; he always picked a flower during his morning run and left it on her pillow for her to find when she woke up.
Charlotte picked up the rose, feeling a wave of emotion.
He didn't remember, so what was the point of doing this?
Now that Vertex Innovations Group's business was stable, Charlotte was pretty chill and had set up an indoor golf course on the top floor.
When she had some free time, she'd take a few swings.
During a break, Jenna came over and whispered, "Melanie wants to see you. Are you open to it?"
Charlotte took a sip of water and smiled faintly. "I thought she never wanted to see me again."
Jenna smiled and said, "For her to get this far, she must be a lot smarter and more adaptable than those other celebs."
Charlotte nodded. "Let her in!"
Soon, Melanie walked in.
She came solo, holding a small box of cakes.
Charlotte glanced at the cake and smirked. "I don't invest in films, Melanie. You sure you're buttering up the right person?"
Melanie, looking pretty low-key today, placed an envelope on the table. "There are five premiere tickets inside. Ms. Russell, if you have time, please come and see!"
Charlotte didn't shut her down right away. She got up and headed towards the golf course, and after a moment of hesitation, Melanie followed.
After a few swings, Melanie chimed in, "Ms. Russell, your technique is excellent!"
Charlotte toyed with the white golf club and smiled. "Frederick taught me!"
Melanie felt a bit awkward.
Charlotte hit another ball and said casually, "You want the endorsement for that high-end project, right?"
After finishing her swing, Charlotte smiled lightly. "It depends on whether you can prove yourself! If the box office is good, we can talk!"
Melanie didn't expect her to be so chill and was momentarily stunned.
Charlotte thoughtfully said, "There aren't many people who truly disgust me. Melanie, you're not one of them!"
Charlotte agreed to Melanie's request.
Unexpectedly, Frederick found out about it and called her specifically, "Ms. Russell, you're so magnanimous."
Charlotte was annoyed.
She deliberately said, "Melanie has money and status. Why shouldn't I work with her?"
Frederick's voice was very low. "Charlotte, if you do this, it makes me feel like you don't care about me!"
He and Melanie had nothing, but there had been rumors!
Charlotte didn't care at all and even planned to attend Melanie's premiere.
After a moment of silence, Charlotte said, "Frederick, I've said it before, we should both have our own personal lives! What I want is very simple: a normal life and the safety of the kids! I've found that these things are easily attainable without you."
After she finished speaking, Frederick was silent for a long time.
Finally, he hung up the phone.
Charlotte didn't feel too good either!
In fact, she had already chosen Melanie for that high-end project, and as she said, Melanie needed to prove her market value to secure the endorsement.
Because of this, she and Frederick had a falling out.
He came to see the kids twice a week, but they intentionally avoided each other.
On Saturday, Charlotte took the two kids to Hawkins Mansion.
Andrew came last night, saying he wanted to see the kids, and Patrick suggested the whole family have a meal together.
Charlotte's car had just arrived.
Lola was taken out by Laura, and Patrick happily took Kingsley.
Charlotte went upstairs and ran into Andrew in the hallway on the second floor.
It was obvious Andrew had spent the night here; the top three buttons of his shirt were undone, and the hem wasn't tucked into his belt.
Charlotte looked behind him; it was Chloe's room.
She then looked at Andrew. "Andrew, did you make up with Chloe?"
Andrew's expression was a bit complicated.
They hadn't made up; last night, Chloe came back and hid in her room crying, clearly having relationship troubles, so he went to comfort her.
He lost control!
To be honest, Andrew hadn't had sex for a long time, and they had countless intimate moments before.
It was inevitable that things got intense!
Charlotte guessed what happened and was about to speak.
Chloe opened the door and threw out a man's jacket, crying and cursing, "You old bastard!"
Andrew could only smile wryly.
Chloe quickly noticed Charlotte. Although she was two years older than Charlotte, she was somewhat afraid of her.
So her voice softened, and with slightly red eyes, she called out, "Charlotte!"
