Chapter 295 Fine, Let's Sign the Divorce Papers

After what felt like forever, Frederick finally croaked out, "I'll go get it!"

Charlotte didn't say no.

Half an hour later, Frederick came back with the meds.

Charlotte was in the bedroom.

She popped the pill, washed it down with some warm water, and felt it go down all weird.

After taking the medicine, she turned to him. "You can leave now!"

Guys are all the same; once they get what they want, they’re way easier to deal with. Charlotte told him to scram, and he didn’t even get mad. Instead, he squatted next to her and said in that raspy voice, "You're even cute when you're taking a pill."

Charlotte looked down and whispered, "Frederick, this is pointless."

Frederick knew she was hung up on Brenda, so he whispered back, "I'm done with her."

"Really? What about the $200,000, Mr. Hawkins? Care to explain that?"

She knew!

Frederick immediately thought of Cherie; it was probably her who spilled the beans to Charlotte.

He gently stroked the ends of Charlotte's blonde hair, his voice still rough. "Charlotte, don't be so harsh! I don't care about her, trust me."

Charlotte gave a faint smile.

Even after getting all close, they still ended things on a sour note.

Frederick still wouldn’t sign the divorce papers. He started acting all attentive, treating Charlotte and the kids like they were made of glass.

He knew Charlotte had already found a new place. Just waiting for him to sign those papers.

For the next couple of weeks, he couldn’t get near her; even when Charlotte came back, she crashed with Lola.

Lola kept seeing her shrink.

Charlotte got even colder towards him.

Two weeks later, at Wise Counsel Law Firm, Frederick closed the file and told Cherie, "Book two tickets to Bostan. I’ve got a week-long business trip."

Cherie nodded. "Yes, Mr. Hawkins!"

Just as she was about to leave, Frederick called her back, hesitated a bit, and then said, "You and Charlotte are tight, right? Can you try to talk to her for me?"

Cherie felt super awkward.

Frederick noticed her discomfort and his face turned a bit cold. "Alright, you can go now."

The door closed softly.

Frederick leaned back in his chair, gently spinning, thinking about Charlotte.

Everything was a mess.

He didn’t even want marriage or a wife before; he was supposed to sign the separation agreement as soon as he got back, but now he was the one who couldn’t let go.

The phone on the desk rang, and he glanced at it casually; it was Charlotte calling.

Frederick immediately answered, his Adam's apple bobbing, "What's up?"

Charlotte didn’t sound as icy as usual; she said gently, "If you're free, let's grab a coffee."

'Grab a coffee?' That was tempting.

Frederick gently spun his leather chair, his voice a bit hoarse. "You're not gonna talk about divorce, are you?"

"No."

Frederick stood up and grabbed his car keys. "Where are you? I'll pick you up!"

Charlotte sent him her location.

Half an hour later, Frederick's car pulled up in front of a five-star hotel.

Charlotte was sitting in the first-floor café.

The all-glass layout gave a killer view.

Frederick pushed the door open and sat down across from Charlotte, looking at her with admiration. "You look amazing!"

He added, "Seems like we've never gone on a date alone before!"

Guess he had been neglectful.

Charlotte didn’t mind.

Frederick's gaze deepened.

He liked Charlotte's gentle vibe, so the sweet talk just flowed out, "I'm heading to Bostan for a week on a business trip. Why don't you and Lola come with me? I'll keep my evenings free to hang out with you."

Charlotte smiled serenely. "We'll see."

Frederick was about to persuade her when he suddenly noticed two familiar faces out of the corner of his eye.

It was Brenda and Robert!

Robert was in casual clothes, wearing sunglasses, and had his arm around Brenda as they walked out of the hotel elevator. It was obvious they had just hooked up; Brenda's face still had a blush!

Robert handed her $20,000. They even set up their next rendezvous.

Frederick's gaze turned icy as he looked at Charlotte. "Did you set this up?"

This scene reminded him of years ago when he went to Novaria and saw Katherine with her fitness trainer, the floor littered with used condoms, making him feel sick.

Charlotte stirred her coffee with a kind of elegance. "Yep! I set it up. Brenda wouldn’t take your $200,000, but she slept with Robert for $20,000. She banks on looking like Katherine. Next time you see her, she’ll still look all innocent."

Frederick’s eyes were cold and unfamiliar.

He didn’t care who Brenda was with; all he knew was that Charlotte had just stomped all over his pride.

His voice was icy. "Charlotte, I really underestimated you."

Charlotte lowered her eyes a bit. "I’ve got a live version of Robert and Brenda too. Wanna see it?"

She was ruthless.

Frederick grabbed her and dragged her towards the parking lot.

They ran into Brenda on the way.

Brenda, with tears in her eyes, pleaded, "Mr. Hawkins, it’s not what it looks like."

Frederick didn’t even glance at her. He dragged Charlotte and shoved her into the car.

His tall frame trapped her, and right there in the parking lot, he yanked her skirt up to her waist, touching her angrily. "Mrs. Hawkins, how many faces do you have?"

Today, she invited him for coffee, and he was thrilled.

He thought she wanted to patch things up, but he didn’t expect this.

Frederick wanted a gentle wife, not this fierce woman.

He suddenly stopped.

He looked at Charlotte; her eyes were empty.

She had set all this up just to get a divorce.

In fact, she wasn’t wrong; it really was pointless.

Frederick whispered in her ear like a lover, "As you wish, we’ll divorce. Not because of Brenda, but because we really aren’t right for each other."

After saying that, Frederick got up.

He climbed into the driver’s seat, casually buttoned his shirt, and then lit a cigarette.

Brenda was still outside knocking on the door.

Inside the car, the couple sat in silence.

Charlotte adjusted her clothes and slowly sat up. She knew she had thoroughly pissed off Frederick. Brenda was not only her taboo but also his.

He wanted Brenda to be chaste.

She thought, 'Frederick must hate me right now.'

Frederick finished his cigarette.

The car was filled with smoke, and his voice was distant. "When I get back from my business trip, we’ll sign the papers."

During the week Frederick was in Bostan, rumors flew about him dating a young actress.

Frederick didn’t clear things up; he let the rumors grow and make headlines.

Of course, Charlotte saw it.

But she didn’t question it because they were already planning to divorce.

After Frederick got back to Syeattel, he didn’t come home for a week.

He had promised to sign the papers.

Charlotte ran into him at a restaurant. He was with that young actress, who was very charming and had a good vibe. Frederick was having dinner with her.

When he saw Charlotte, Frederick slightly smiled.

Not only did he not avoid her, but he also thoughtfully ordered dessert for his companion. The actress didn’t notice Charlotte and happily accepted.

As Charlotte passed by them, her face was a bit pale.

The person she had arranged to meet didn’t show up.

She dined alone, occasionally glancing up to see Frederick’s deep eyes, seemingly thoughtful.

Charlotte didn’t look at him.

She lowered her head and cut the steak on her plate when a tall figure loomed over her, blocking her view.

Charlotte looked up, and Frederick sat across from her.

Before Charlotte could speak, he asked indifferently, "Are you still living at home?"

Charlotte’s slender fingers paused, and after a moment, she said softly, "I’ll move out once we sign the papers."

Frederick leaned back, gently stroking his pristine white shirt, with a faint smile. "Actually, you can move out without signing the papers. But if you insist, we can sign them tonight!"

He was deliberately trying to piss her off.

If they couldn’t be a couple, they should at least keep some dignity, but he just wanted to see Charlotte lose her cool.

He just wanted to hurt her!

He didn’t like that actress, but she had chased him to Syeattel to ask him to be her legal advisor.

Charlotte must have felt bad seeing that.

Of course, he had also decided to give up on her; once they signed the divorce papers, they would have nothing to do with each other!

Frederick was despicable to this extent.

Charlotte put down her knife and fork. "Fine, I can sign the papers right now!"
