Chapter 461 A Month Apart, Reunion Sweeter Than Newlyweds 1
After Andrew finished talking, he reached for her hand.
Chloe pulled away.
With a playful tone, she said, "I don't wanna go!"
He looked at her with patience, his voice softening, "Can you stop being so moody? If I don't take you, you get anxious, and if I do, you get all uncomfortable."
Chloe leaned against the door, messing with her nails. "You shouldn't have sat with her."
She didn't mind last time with Grace because Grace was also his friend, and she knew Andrew didn't want to ruin the fun. But this Nina chick had other plans for Andrew.
Andrew knew her temper well, and instead of getting annoyed, he found it kinda cute.
He half-playfully grabbed her hand and said softly, "Then you should come with me even more. There's an important business partner inside. Just say hi, and then we can bounce!"
Chloe got dragged along by him.
Halfway there, Andrew couldn't hold back anymore.
He pressed her against the hallway wall and kissed her lightly for a bit.
When it ended, they were both out of breath.
He pressed his forehead against hers and whispered, "You're so adorable like this."
Chloe blushed. She kicked him in embarrassment and anger, saying, "We're in public; behave yourself!"
Andrew chuckled softly, stood up straight, and let her go.
They got to the private room, and Andrew said, "I'm sorry for this. But I gotta go now since my wife just got back from abroad and couldn't wait to pick me up. Got a lot going on at home. Otherwise, I would definitely share a drink or two with you guys!"
The room went silent. Nina's face turned pale. The person who brought her looked uncomfortable too. The "wife" Andrew mentioned must be Chloe!
A tall, beautiful woman stepped out from behind Andrew.
Most of the people there were looking for favors from the Hawkins Family, so they stood up with smiles. "Oh, it's Miss Hawkins."
Someone corrected, "Andrew said, it's now Mrs. Devereux."
Andrew smiled and said, "I'll leave Nathan to have dinner with you! I gotta go."
No one dared to stop him, only making a few jokes.
At that moment, Nina's voice rang out, "Off before the fun ends? You owe us three rounds, Mr. Devereux."
The room froze. Everyone turned to her with shocked expressions.
Nina did it on purpose. She was jealous of Chloe.
As the tension grew, Chloe gently pushed Andrew aside and walked towards Nina.
Nina's delicate face showed a hint of nervousness, but she wouldn't back down.
She thought she had an edge over Chloe.
Compared to Chloe, she was a full ten years younger. Men always went for younger women.
She was sure she had a shot with Andrew, especially since he wasn't married now.
Chloe walked to Andrew's seat, gently picked up a wine glass, and sniffed it lightly.
Good, it was water.
Chloe tilted her head back and drank it.
The others couldn't figure out what she was up to. Nathan wanted to stop her, but Andrew gave him a look.
Chloe put down the glass and reached for a bottle of wine.
She slowly poured half a glass.
Nina sneered, "Miss Hawkins is really bold. Are you gonna drink for Andrew?"
"Who said I was drinking?" Chloe glanced around. "Andrew can't drink. I assume someone else drank for him earlier. So whoever drank for him then will drink now! They need to finish no matter how much I pour."
Nina's face went pale.
She had been the one drinking for Andrew.
Actually, no one forced her, but she did it to show off.
At that time, Andrew only glanced at her and didn't stop her.
The atmosphere was tense. The person who brought Nina couldn't help but plead.
Chloe smiled faintly, "Wasn't it Nina's suggestion?"
She glanced around and smiled slightly, "You want me to drink, huh?"
No one dared to force her to drink! So, Nina had to be the one to suffer.
That person collected himself and said to Nina, "You were impulsive today! You really have to drink these three glasses for Andrew."
Nina's eyes turned red, "Why should I drink?"
Chloe put down the glass. "Because my last name is Hawkins!"
She said that and walked out.
The transparent liquid in the wine glass swayed gently.
Andrew chuckled, "Excuse me!"
"Mr. Devereux!" Nina called out in a broken voice.
Andrew paused and said lightly, "Nina, the most important thing in life is to know your place." Then he quickly left.
The room was silent. Someone said, "Just one glass, as a gesture!"
But the glass of wine Chloe left was extremely bitter.
Nina had been running rampant in the entertainment industry, relying on Wesley's favor, but today she suffered a big setback and lost face. Her eyes turned red, making her look pitiful.
Chloe walked so quickly that Andrew could barely keep up. He lightly tugged at her sleeve from behind, laughing softly, "Wearing such high heels, you can still walk so fast!"
Chloe ignored him. She walked straight to her red sports car, opened the door, and got in.
Andrew sat beside her. Chloe fastened her seatbelt and turned to him, "Don't you have a car?"
Andrew leaned back in the seat and shamelessly said, "Traffic is getting more complicated these days. It's better to let you young people drive!"
Chloe scolded him, "You're really shameless!"
Andrew chuckled softly, just looking at her.
They hadn't seen each other for a month, and he missed her a lot.
Chloe, still angry, couldn't help but kick his calf, "Why didn't you stay? Why did you follow me?"
He let her vent, then couldn't help but grab her ankle, running his hand along the line of her leg.
Chloe blushed and scolded him, "It hurts; put my leg down!"
It seemed like it was sprained.
Realizing she wasn't joking, Andrew quickly set her leg down and massaged it.
It took Chloe a while to recover.
Andrew couldn't help but lean in and kiss her lightly, "Does it still hurt?"
Chloe refused to talk to him.
Andrew touched her face and whispered, "You were so impressive just now."
Chloe stayed quiet, and Andrew, sensing she was still upset, unbuckled his seatbelt and switched places with her.
After driving for a bit, she finally asked, "Where are we going?"
Andrew kept his eyes on the road and asked softly, "Where do you want to go?"
Chloe's heart softened. They hadn't seen each other for a month; it wasn't worth getting upset over Nina. If Andrew couldn't control himself, there would be a Nina today and someone else tomorrow.
She relaxed and said softly, "I haven't seen Gavin and Natalie for a few days."
Andrew nodded, "Let's pick them up and then go to your place."
The house on Broadway was nice and perfect for private meetings with Chloe, but was too small for the kids. Yet her apartment was spacious enough.
Chloe didn't object. She hadn't adjusted to the time difference yet and had just dealt with a dinner party. She was really tired!
When she woke up, she found herself at the Hawkins Mansion. Andrew had brought the kids out and switched to a black Range Rover.
Chloe felt a bit embarrassed as she got into the car. He now treated her home as his own, driving any car from her garage as he pleased!
Chloe sat in the front while the two kids were in their car seats.
Natalie wanted Chloe to hold her, but Andrew gently said, "Let mommy hold you when we get home."
Natalie obediently stopped fussing.
The family of four returned to Chloe's apartment, and it was already 10:30 PM. Chloe had taken a short nap and felt a bit more refreshed.
She put the kids to bed and returned to the master bedroom to find Andrew unpacking her luggage. He was hanging her clothes back in the closet one by one. His long fingers were holding her intimate clothing.
Chloe's face turned slightly red, and she gently took them from him. "I'll do it myself."
Andrew lifted her onto the shoe cabinet, making her wrap her arms around his waist, and nuzzled her nose affectionately, "Feeling shy?"
"Of course not!" She wouldn't admit it.
Andrew chuckled, "We've been married for ages. I've seen every part of you, even..."
Chloe wouldn't let him continue, so Andrew didn't say more.
He really missed her. Now she was right here in his arms. Andrew kissed her passionately, and Chloe responded.
After that, Andrew gently stroked her long hair, breathing softly, "Why did you run away that day?"
Chloe's face was flushed. She played with his shirt buttons, stubbornly saying, "I just went to shoot a movie."
Andrew chuckled. He leaned in again, whispering in her ear, "Do you want to run away now?"
She didn't act coy but instead wrapped her arms around his neck, her red lips lightly touching his. "I'm not afraid of you."
Andrew's fingers tightened in her hair, and he kissed her passionately.
Kissing her, they stumbled all the way to the bedroom. Clothes scattered all over the floor.
By the end of the night, Chloe couldn't understand how Andrew, who usually took great care of his health, could be so wild in bed!
After a long time, she refused to accompany him any longer.
Andrew, still unsatisfied, held her close under the covers, wanting to talk.
Chloe groaned, "I'm so tired!"
Andrew playfully bit her delicate shoulder.
Chloe, annoyed, sat up, "Do I have to talk about Nina with you before you'll let me sleep?"
Andrew knew she was upset. She hadn't adjusted to the time difference, had been busy all day, and then he had dragged her into several rounds.
He pulled her back down, holding her in his arms. He kissed her forcefully, "Alright, I'll let you sleep well!"
It was late summer, still quite hot, but Chloe stayed under the covers, her face resting on his chest, not minding the heat.
Her breathing was steady. Andrew thought she was asleep and was about to get up to check on Natalie when she murmured, "Andrew, don't move; I'm tired!" Andrew had to soothe her first.
Moonlight peeked through the window, revealing a glimpse of intimacy. The man lifted a corner of the thin blanket, watching her intently in the dark, feeling a sense of peace as if he had regained something lost.
He could feel Chloe had matured. It was her growth that made their relationship more stable. If it were the Chloe from back then, she wouldn't have easily accepted him!
In the early hours, Chloe was sound asleep. Andrew first checked on Gavin, tucking him in, then went to make formula for Natalie.
After three days apart, Andrew missed her a lot, holding her in his arms. Natalie drank her milk. She would take a few sips and then doze off. Her long, thick eyelashes cast shadows on her skin. She was especially cute.
Natalie finished her milk and was about to fall asleep. Andrew gently patted her. Natalie slept soundly in Andrew's arms, her chubby little hands wrapped around his waist. Andrew put Natalie down. Natalie woke up and, feeling aggrieved, clung to her father again. Andrew simply carried her back to the master bedroom.
Sunlight streamed onto the bed, and Chloe woke up. Andrew was not in bed, but Natalie was lying in her arms. Beside her pillow was a thornless red rose and a card: [Mrs. Devereux is amazing last night!]
Chloe's face burned with embarrassment. Andrew was really shameless!
Just as she was thinking this, the bedroom door opened, and Andrew stood at the door. Seeing she was awake, he smiled slightly, "If you want to sleep a bit more, go ahead! I'll take Gavin to school in a bit."
Chloe still held the card in her hand. Holding it felt awkward, but throwing it away felt even more so!
Andrew's sharp eyes naturally noticed her embarrassment and chuckled, "Sleep a bit more; you can savor the memory!"
Chloe couldn't stand such teasing. She threw off the covers and got up, stubbornly saying, "Last night was just okay! Nothing special!"
Andrew's expression was indulgent and doting. Chloe went to freshen up. He came in, turned Natalie over, and let her lie on her stomach.
Outside, little Gavin called out, "Dad, I'm going to be late for school!"
Andrew kissed Natalie. When Chloe finished freshening up and came out, Andrew looked up at her. "How many days are you free this time?"
