Chapter 646 Landon, I Finally Woke Up!

The ceremony wrapped up, and as Landon turned with Phoebe on his arm, he caught sight of Caitlyn and Amara standing together. Caitlyn's tear-streaked face was unmistakable.

Landon stared at Caitlyn. Wasn't she supposed to be engaged? What was she doing at his wedding? Then he glanced at Amara.

Amara was calm and collected. She held Caitlyn up with one hand and smiled at Landon and Phoebe. "Congrats on your wedding!"

Landon looked at her, then back at Caitlyn.

Caitlyn's makeup was a bit smudged, but she still managed to say, trembling, "Congrats on your wedding, Mr. Carter!"

Phoebe, sensing something amiss, leaned into Landon and whispered softly, "Who is she?" Her instincts were sharp, and she only inquired about Caitlyn.

Before Landon could respond, Caitlyn smiled brightly. "I'm just Landon's friend. He's very humorous."

Landon's voice was somewhat stern. "Caitlyn! You should go back to Seattle!"

Caitlyn tilted her head slightly in defiance. "Who are you to tell me what to do!"

Caitlyn threw a gift box from her purse, which landed right at his feet. Landon recognized it as the New Year's gift he had given her, which she had been reluctant to use and was now returning.

He still remembered wishing Caitlyn a Happy New Year. Now she was using this gift box to completely sever their relationship.

Landon stared at the gift box at his feet, hesitating to pick it up.

The wedding guests were all whispering, and Phoebe's face darkened, but Landon had no time to comfort her. He looked up at Caitlyn.

Caitlyn turned around, her lips trembling, and said to Amara, "Why should I have to compromise! I stayed with him for three years, and in the end, he married someone else! I would rather it had been you!"

Amara gently hugged her.

Caitlyn gave a bitter smile. "If he fires you, I'll give you that villa worth at least twenty million dollars!"

Caitlyn wouldn't feel sorry for Landon; he owed her that. If he didn't love her, why did he keep seeing her, giving her hope again and again, only to abandon her cruelly?

Before Caitlyn left, Landon stepped forward and grabbed her arm, then turned to Amara and said, "You come too!"

The wedding scene was chaotic.

Landon grabbed Caitlyn and took her to a presidential suite. Amara, caught off guard, watched as the door closed swiftly in her face. Left standing awkwardly in the hallway, she touched her nose.

Inside, Landon let go of Caitlyn. He unbuttoned his expensive tailored suit and paced back and forth a few times before looking at her. "You're running away from your engagement! What are you going to do when you go back?"

Caitlyn remained silent. She was already dressed provocatively, so she simply leaned seductively against the back of the sofa. She looked at Landon's exasperated expression and said, "Mr. Carter, perhaps you should think about how to explain this to Mrs. Carter!"

Landon was infuriated by Caitlyn, but he couldn't bear to hurt her. Despite the many troubles outside, he still sat down opposite her, seemingly wanting to reason with her.

Caitlyn's tone was unusually cold. "Landon, I've finally come to my senses! From now on, I won't have any expectations of you, nor will I bother you! Whether you get married or keep a few young girls, it has nothing to do with me anymore!"

Landon felt a pang of sadness. His background meant he was never the type to settle down with just one woman.

The only woman he ever truly loved, Charlotte, was now someone else's wife.

Then there was Caitlyn. She was different. She was both a lover and someone he cherished deeply. She was so much younger than him, having given him three years of her youth. How could he not have feelings for her?

She wanted to get married and even cried and made a scene about it. However, in the end, they decided to break up.

He thought they could part on good terms, but it had come to this. Landon irritably lit a cigarette, smoked half of it, and then looked at her. "Alright! I'll have Amara take you back later!"

They had finally met again, but under such circumstances. Landon, the weight of regret heavy in his heart, spoke softly, his melancholy seeping into each word. "You should find a good man to marry in the future!"

Caitlyn's eyes welled up with tears again. But she didn't say anything more. He was married; there was no possibility between them anymore!

She wouldn't do those humble things again.

Landon told her to wait inside, then opened the door and went out. Amara was standing outside, lost in thought.

"Ms. Butler!" his shout alone conveyed his anger.

Amara turned around, her expression calm. "Mr. Carter, I came here personally to accompany her!"

Landon glared at her.

The outside was a mess, but he was still sulking with Amara. He stared at her. "What's the deal with Caitlyn's fiancé? Why isn't she engaged anymore?"

Amara spoke the truth, "Her fiancé wanted an open marriage, and Caitlyn couldn't accept it."

Landon said furiously, "Why doesn't he just go to hell!"

Amara said, "In fact, you didn't treat her much better! At least the other party made their boundaries clear before marriage, and Caitlyn had the chance to call it off."

Landon glared at her. "Are you just here to cause trouble? Aren't you afraid I'll send you abroad?"

Amara said respectfully, "Caitlyn said if you take it out on me, she'll give me the villa."

Landon was fuming. "Since when did you two become so supportive of each other?"

Amara didn't respond.

After a long while, Amara softened her voice and said, "Mr. Carter, why don't you treat her and yourself better? You clearly like her!"

He just took out a cigarette, lit it, and smoked most of it.

How could he possibly explain to Amara the conflict waging within him? Although his appearance still bore the marks of youth and vitality, he was nearly two decades older than Caitlyn and might be an old man in a few years.

Actually, he hadn't entirely dismissed the notion of marrying Caitlyn. However, each time he gazed upon her peaceful, youthful face as she lay sleeping beside him, he would falter..

Amara lowered her eyes. "Mr. Carter, you're just feeling inferior! You think you're not good enough for her, not because of your age, but because she's too good! Good background, good looks, and a degree from a world-class university. Even though she never works, she has things that you were never born with."

Landon's hand holding the cigarette was suddenly burned.

He stared at Amara.

Amara gave a bitter smile. "Maybe it's because I come from the same background as you, so I can empathize deeply!"

Amara had once been his secretary. She was very familiar with the people around him and had a say.

Amara said softly, "You haven't registered the marriage yet, so you still have a chance to back out! Although it would be unfair to that lady, if you don't love her, marrying her would actually cause deeper harm!"
