Chapter 547 Lola Seems to Be Pregnant!

Johnny hung up the phone.

He looked at Lola, feeling a deep sadness. The man who gave him life was gone, and he couldn't quite put his feelings into words.

It felt like both a punishment and a relief.

From now on, there was no one left in the world who shared his blood.

After a long pause, he finally said, ''Okay.''

Before Lola could ask, he took her hand and softly said, "Lola, will you come with me?"

He needed Lola by his side.

Lola nodded. "Okay! I'll go with you!"

Carlton had passed away in Stellaria City, about 300 miles away, and Johnny planned to drive there.

Once in the car, Lola softly said, "How about I drive? You don't look too well."

"No, it's fine." Johnny gently shook his head.

He fastened his seatbelt, sat quietly for a few seconds, and then started the car.

Three hours later, they arrived in Stellaria City.

Johnny signed the papers, and two hours later, he received a small urn containing a handful of ashes.

Lola waited for him outside. When she saw him come out, she gently asked, "Are you taking him back to Syeattel?"

Johnny shook his head and said in a low voice, "He hasn't finished his sentence yet. Let him stay in Stellaria City."

Lola didn't understand.

He took her to the riverside, where Johnny opened the urn and gently poured the ashes into the river.

In a moment, the grayish-white powder drifted away and sank to the bottom.

It was all over.

Lola gently placed her hand on his shoulder. "Do you still hate him?"

Johnny didn't speak. He just turned and gently hugged Lola.

He pressed his face against her leg, burying it there, and remained silent for a long time.

Lola didn't disturb him. She gazed into the distance, thinking that the shadows of childhood might take a lifetime to heal. Even though Johnny was now a billionaire, the events of the past would likely stay with him forever.

They stayed by the river for about half an hour before heading back.

Johnny drove back to Syeattel, and it was already 8 PM. He didn't get out of the car but softly said, "You go home first."

Lola turned to him.

Johnny's tone softened. "I need to go out for a bit. I'll be back by 10."

Lola guessed where he was going.

She nodded. "Alright, come back soon!"

After saying that, she got out of the car. As she closed the door, she bent down and said, "Drive safely!"

Johnny gave a faint smile.

The car door closed, and the black sports car slowly drove away. Lola stood in the night breeze, watching the direction he left. She knew where he was going—it must be his mother's cemetery!

She went upstairs and entered the apartment. As she closed the door, she rubbed her neck and pulled out a big stack of documents to read. Even though she was exhausted, she wanted to wait for him. So, she made herself a cup of coffee.

Johnny didn't come back until almost midnight.

When he opened the door, the warm yellow light in the room made him feel cozy. Lola was sitting on the sofa, reading documents, her downcast eyes making her look more serene than usual.

Johnny took off his coat and walked inside. "Why aren't you asleep yet?"

He noticed she was still wearing the same clothes she had worn out, clearly indicating she had been sitting there waiting for him since she got back.

Johnny tossed his coat on the sofa and heard Lola speak, "Waiting for you! Just a little more to read, then I'll sleep!"

Johnny took her documents away. "Haven't you eaten yet?"

Lola looked up. "You haven't eaten either, have you?"

Johnny chuckled softly. "How about I make us some pasta?"

"Okay!" Lola watched him roll up his sleeves and head to the kitchen. His broad shoulders and slim waist were a sight to behold.

She thought to herself, 'Actually, we're doing quite well as we are now!'

In less than half an hour, Johnny had made two bowls of pasta and even prepared some soup.

While Lola was still savoring her food, he had already finished eating.

"Is that all you're eating?" Lola couldn't help but say. "That's not enough!"

He gently patted her hand. "I don't have much of an appetite. I'm going to have a cigarette. You go to bed first."

Lola hesitated. In the end, she didn't say anything. After finishing her pasta, she cleaned up the dishes, took a shower, and went to bed, but she couldn't fall asleep.

Johnny was smoking on the balcony.

Actually, he shouldn't have come back tonight. He was filled with negative energy, which would inevitably affect Lola. But he wanted her by his side, even if they were just close by, without touching or talking.

Eventually, Lola couldn't stay awake and fell asleep.

In the morning, Johnny wasn't beside her, and there were no signs that he had slept in the bed.

However, the apartment was filled with the aroma of burgers and coffee.

Lola put on her slippers and went out. Johnny had already made breakfast and was sitting at the dining table reading the newspaper. Hearing her footsteps, he turned and smiled. "You're awake?"

Lola looked at him. "Did you not sleep all night?"

"No, I didn't want to disturb you when I saw you were asleep, so I crashed in the guest room. Go wash up and have breakfast."

Johnny gently patted her waist.

Lola continued to stare at him.

His tone softened immediately. "I'm fine now. After all, he was just an insignificant person."

Lola said, "You're just saying that, Johnny. It's okay if you cry in front of me. What haven't I seen from you?"

Johnny's eyes were intense.

Lola quickly ran off and came back dressed differently to join him for breakfast.

Johnny, as usual, got her a cup of milk and handed her a sandwich. He acted as if nothing had happened, as if Carlton's death truly didn't matter to him and he had already moved on.

Lola couldn't quite figure it out. She thought, 'He needs some time to process it himself.'

She lowered her head to drink milk, and Johnny's soft voice broke the silence. "Lola, let's get married."

Lola almost spat out her milk.

Was this a proposal? He made it sound like casual conversation!

Before she could react, Johnny took her hand, his voice raspy. "Lola, I'm serious."

Lola stared at him for a long time before she managed to say, "Isn't this a bit too hasty?"

He smiled. "You already have the engagement ring. Besides, if you want something romantic, I can arrange it. But you have to agree first."

"If I don't agree, you won't arrange it?" Lola deliberately teased him.

Johnny chuckled lightly, finally showing a hint of joy.

Lola was taken aback.

Johnny asked, "Give me an answer."

Lola, trying to maintain her composure, said, "Alright, go ahead and arrange it then."

"Alright!" Johnny said with great joy.

Lola truly liked him and genuinely wanted to marry him. Even though his proposal today was quite sudden, she still agreed, feeling a bit at a loss.

Johnny smiled. "I was already promised to you when I was in kindergarten. Who's really at a loss here?"

Lola huffed. "Didn't you go missing halfway through?"

"I'm here now, Lola. Can we stop bringing up the past?"

"No! As long as I'm alive, I'll remember it!"

The news of their upcoming wedding reached their families. Andrew and Chloe even flew in from Copenhagen to discuss the wedding date and other details with Frederick and his wife.

Johnny handled the discussions, while Lola enjoyed her free time.

The wedding was set for June.

A surprisingly close date, which puzzled Lola. "Why so soon? It's so hot, wearing a wedding dress will be stifling!"

She thought it was Frederick's idea. But Charlotte told her, "It was Johnny's idea! He said he wanted to marry you as soon as possible."

Lola looked at Johnny, her voice soft. "It was your idea?"

Johnny smiled. "What's wrong? Don't you want to marry me soon?"

Not really! But Lola felt it shouldn't be this soon. It seemed like he had changed a bit since Carlton's death.

Others might not notice, but as his partner, Lola could feel it.

Recently, Johnny often lay quietly on his pillow at night, just watching her.

Even though she was right there in his arms, he would look at her every night, as if afraid she might fly away.

Lola was lost in thought when a servant brought her a glass of orange juice.

The smell made Lola feel nauseous. She quickly covered her nose and ran to the bathroom, shouting, "Jessica, what is this? Why does it make me feel sick?"

Jessica looked innocent. "It's just orange juice."

Why did it make her feel sick?

Could it be that she was pregnant?

Then everyone, except Lola, was scrutinizing Johnny.

Johnny had a vasectomy!

How could Lola be pregnant?

Just as he was about to explain, Lola came out, leaning against the wall, weakly saying, "I must have eaten something bad. It's impossible for me to be pregnant!"

She looked at Johnny, her eyes watery.

Only he could understand the look in her eyes. Johnny felt a strong urge to hold her.

The two of them explained, and the elders were a bit disappointed.

If she were pregnant, there would be a baby this year or next, making the house lively again.

Andrew pretended not to care. "It's okay if there's no baby! I think Gavin is enough for two, and he might have another one next year!"

Chloe kicked him hard. "Having a baby is hard on Molly! You don't care because it's not your own child!"

Andrew immediately apologized, "Alright, I was wrong. I apologize to you!"

Chloe finally let him off, huffing. "Even with a natural birth, she needs at least a year to recover before thinking about a second child. And it's up to them to decide, not you! Stop worrying about it!"

Andrew apologized again.

One was humble, the other proud.

Lola was a bit envious. In the car on the way back, she turned her head. "Andrew and Chloe have such a good relationship!"

Just as she finished speaking, she covered her mouth, looking a bit pale.

Johnny became worried. "Are you sure it's just a stomach bug? Let me take you to the hospital."
