Chapter 416 A Good Husband Is Made with Training

Chloe was humming softly.

She goes, "It's set for May; his company's been swamped lately!"

Charlotte gave a faint smile.

Andrew's company was in Syeattel. But he's got a ton of connections in the northwest, so he's always on the move, and even in Syeattel, he's out drinking and socializing a lot.

Chloe didn't gripe about it.

She even said with his connections, he could easily find a more chill job.

Andrew shot that down. He said that'd be like retiring.

He's super touchy about his age; that night, he had been insatiable in lovemaking and didn't let up all night.

Chloe hesitated.

Charlotte asked, "What's up?"

Chloe fiddled with the clothes in her hand and whispered, "Charlotte, I feel like things between me and him aren't the same as before! I know I still love Andrew, and he loves me too, but this happiness feels kinda fake, you know?"

Charlotte totally got it. Honestly, her past wasn't any better than Chloe's.

At least Andrew was sure about his love for her.

But back then, Frederick had someone else on his mind.

Their love was a rollercoaster of fights.

Charlotte hugged her gently and said, "A good husband is made with training!"

Chloe felt a bit better!

Seeing her down, Charlotte called Lily for lunch, and the girl talk got lively.

Lily brought up Tina, who had already been executed!

Charlotte was stunned for a bit, forcing a smile. "I called you to cheer us up, and you bring up something so heavy!"

Lily said, "Isn't that good news though?"

Charlotte smiled lightly. "Yeah, it is!"

Lily wiped her lips with a napkin, pulled out a velvet box from her bag, and slid it over to Chloe.

"It's a wedding gift for you! Bradley picked it up on a business trip abroad."

Chloe opened it.

It was a pearl necklace with a pink diamond, looking super pricey.

She felt it was too much.

Lily patted her hand. "Just take it! I, like Charlotte, see you as a sister."

Charlotte said, "Take it! Over the years, she's made millions from my studio, and she only put in a little over a million back then!"

Chloe finally accepted it.

After lunch, they went shopping for a bit, and Frederick came to pick up Charlotte.

A black Maybach pulled up.

Frederick got out and opened the door.

In early spring, he was rocking a white sweater with khaki casual pants, looking way younger.

Lily joked, "Charlotte, your hubby's so handsome; do you feel secure?"

Charlotte watched her husband.

He was walking towards her. Lots of young girls were sneaking glances at him, but he kept his eyes straight ahead.

Charlotte smiled faintly. "Nope! Even if I am, I couldn't keep him with me all the time!"

Besides, men can't be controlled.

Now, he almost always took care of and picked up the kids at home, and he also managed her daily life, plus the company's stuff on both sides. Charlotte figured he didn't have the energy for anything else.

In no time, Frederick walked over.

He gently wrapped his arm around Charlotte's shoulder and looked at Chloe. "Need a ride?"

Chloe said, "I drove myself!"

Frederick nodded to Lily and left with his wife.

As the car drove away, Lily looked at Chloe and sighed softly. "Only Charlotte can handle Frederick!"

She whispered, "He had a thing for Charlotte ages ago and lied to me about being Oliver's girlfriend; otherwise, I wouldn't have..."

She suddenly thought of Ethan.

She zoned out a bit.

Lily hugged her shoulder and softly said, "It's all in the past! Since he's gone, let's move forward!"

Chloe gave a faint smile.

Lily pinched her cheek. "You're so tender and lovable!"

Her enthusiasm made Chloe a bit shy.

Just then, Andrew called.

Chloe answered and softly asked, "You coming back today?"

Even though they weren't married, he basically lived in the villa in Syeattel, so it was like they were a regular couple. Chloe even thought that during these years of Andrew's career hustle, she could bring Adeline over for better care.

Andrew had just wrapped up a business meeting.

He was carrying his suit, with Nathan and two assistants by his side.

Andrew lowered his voice. "I can come back! But it might be a bit late!"

Chloe hummed.

She wanted to wait for him to come back and talk about Adeline. After all, he was building his career in Syeattel, and Adeline couldn't be left alone at home; even though there were servants, it wasn't the same.

After a few more words, she hung up the phone.

Lily smiled. "Didn't expect it; you're looking more and more like a wife."

Chloe's face turned slightly red.

Andrew had just hung up the phone.

He looked up and saw an unexpected person. It was Celeste.

She stumbled over, looking a bit of a mess.

Nathan instinctively stepped in front, calmly saying, "Celeste!"

Celeste pleaded. "Andrew! Let's talk."

Andrew roughly guessed what she wanted to talk about. He looked at the time and said in a low voice, "Celeste, from the moment you used Molly as a pawn, deliberately pouring cold water on her to give her pneumonia, you were no longer fit to be her mother! Or rather, from pregnancy to birth, you never loved this child."

Celeste's face turned pale. She tried to grab Andrew's hand but missed.

The man who once loved her now treated her like a stranger. She was unwilling.

Celeste laughed. "Andrew, are you really gonna drive me to the edge? I've lost my career, my family, and even a hand, and now I don't even deserve to have my own child?"

Andrew didn't want to get tangled up with her.

He gave her one last piece of advice. "If you have any conscience, you shouldn't disturb that child!"

After speaking, the group left.

Celeste shouted behind him, "Andrew! That's my child!"

Andrew paused. He spoke softly, "She's not! She's the continuation of Luke's bloodline; that child is different from you."

Molly's innocent eyes had no scheming. She was pure and shouldn't be corrupted by Celeste.

He left without hesitation, while Celeste was still standing there, laughing softly; she was laughing at her own wishful thinking.

Not even a child could keep him.

Andrew boarded the private jet, feeling not very good.

Nathan was the most understanding.

He handed a glass of red wine to his boss, sat beside him, and smiled lightly. "She chose her own path; she can't blame anyone else!"

Celeste made such a scene.

Her family couldn't tolerate her either, thinking she was a disgrace.

It could be said she was abandoned by everyone.

Andrew waved off the drink, blocking it with his hand, then adjusted his shirt. "Nathan, she wasn't always like this; she used to be a woman with dreams and ambitions."

He seemed a bit lost in thought. "So, emotions can sometimes make people lose themselves."

Nathan, always good at reading the room, lightly countered, "That's not always true! Look at Chloe, she wouldn't. She loves you deeply, but she doesn't lose her principles because of it. Now her career is thriving; she's the right kind of woman for you."

Andrew looked at him.

Nathan was puzzled. "Did I say something wrong?"

Andrew smiled. "No, you didn't say anything wrong! It's me who's been thinking wrong all along!"

All this time, he thought women like Celeste and Grace were independent, but Nathan's words made him realize, they weren't.

Chloe was.

She might be pampered and lack ambition. After all, she was a child from the Hawkins family; how bad could she be?

But her love had limits.

Andrew's heart stirred; he was eager to see her.

Nathan, sensing his thoughts, guessed Andrew was missing Chole, so he didn't disturb him further.

At nine in the evening, the private jet landed.

It was close to 10:30 when Andrew got back to the villa.

Only a wall lamp was left on in the hall.

The light was dim but warm; the air was filled with the scent of home.

Andrew took off his coat, looking around the long-decorated villa, his heart softened.

He went upstairs, first to the kids' room.

Gavin was already asleep.

He slept quietly, lying on his side, his small body nestled in the blanket.

Half of his face was exposed, showing his shiny, short golden hair.

Andrew sat by the bed, gently unbuttoned his shirt, then couldn't help but bend down and kiss Gavin.

Gavin didn't wake up but softly called out "Daddy."

Andrew looked at him tenderly for a long time.

Finally, he covered him with the blanket and went back to the master bedroom, where Chloe was still busy.

She was wearing a white bathrobe, leaning on the sofa studying a script.

Her long hair was slightly wet, and she smelled fragrant.

Obviously, she had just taken a bath.

Andrew gently closed the door, speaking softly, "Still reading the script this late?"

Chloe looked up at him.

Her eyes were filled with joy, but cautiously, not wanting him to notice.

Andrew leaned against the door.

He gently unbuttoned his shirt, complaining, "I'm exhausted!"

He knew how to handle women.

Showing appropriate weakness always aroused a woman's sympathy, at least Chloe couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for him.

But she didn't go over.

Andrew smiled faintly, sat beside her, and gently touched her head. "How was your day out?"

Chloe told him about Charlotte's situation, then without much thought, said, "After Sienna is born, Frederick and Charlotte will have two little girls."

They didn't have any.

Andrew still smiled, leaning on the sofa. He was so tired he didn't want to have sex.

But he still held her in his arms.

He grabbed one of her hands, guiding it inside his open shirt, letting her feel his warm skin.

Chloe pulled her hand back. "I'm talking about serious matters!"

Andrew smiled gently. "Don't we already have a little girl at home?" He said, tugging at her long hair.

Chloe understood a bit. She felt a bit shy, after all, she wasn't young anymore.

"Are you shy?" Andrew, after resting for a bit, had the energy and the desire to do it.

Chloe pushed his shoulder. "I have something serious to talk to you about!"

Andrew let go of her hand.

He stood up, slowly unbuckling his belt, looking like he was going to take a shower. "What is it?"

Chloe looked up at him.

He undressed without any shyness, his expression normal.

She really admired his thick skin.

Andrew was almost undressed, looking at her. "Lost in thought? Didn't you have something serious to say?"

Chloe leaned back, pretending to read the script.

After a while, she said angrily, "I just think we should bring Adeline over!"

Andrew was already heading to the bathroom. His voice came from inside. "Adeline doesn't like going out; she enjoys life in Copenhegan! But she loves you and Gavin the most; maybe if you ask her, she might come over."

Chloe didn't say anything.

When Andrew came out after his shower, she was in a daze.

Andrew sat across from her. "What's wrong? Are you angry?"

Chloe looked at him; she couldn't let go of Adeline.

Andrew gently rubbed her hair, whispering, "What are you thinking? I can't ignore her; it's just a matter of a few years. After a few years, we'll take Gavin back to Copenhegan, then you can't cry missing home."

His voice was gentle and considerate.

She whispered, "I won't as long as you don't bully me!"

Andrew pulled her over.

Tonight he was very sparked, even if he didn't go all the way, he still couldn't control his emotions, kissing her continuously.

His warm hands caressed her body with love and desire.

Late into the night, Andrew's phone rang; it was a call from Molly.

In the dark night, he quietly looked at it for a few seconds, then set the phone to silent.

The light flickered.

He couldn't sleep, gently holding Chloe's body, his face against her slender neck.

Chloe opened her eyes. She could feel Andrew's sadness.

She thought, he must really like that child. If it weren't Celeste's child, she could generously adopt her, just like Charlotte did with Johnny, taking care of her as her own child.

But, that was Celeste's child. She couldn't force herself.

Chloe wanted to speak, but as soon as she made a sound, Andrew stopped her, his finger on her lips.

He wouldn't let her speak.

He held Chloe tightly, hugging her completely. "Have a sweet dream!"

In the middle of the night, thinking she was asleep, he got up quietly.

Andrew didn't take his phone. He took a pack of cigarettes from the bedside.

Chloe's face was against the white sheets. She opened her eyes, unable to sleep. Eventually, she couldn't help but get up.

She wore a thin nightgown, walking in the dark, finally finding him in the study.

A beam of light embraced him in the dark.

He sat there, quietly smoking, his still handsome face with a slight frown, seemingly troubled.

Chloe rarely saw him like this.

No matter how difficult the business, he always handled it easily.

She lowered her eyes, quietly thinking. If that child had a good future, he would feel better, but if she didn't, he would surely regret it, regret not taking care of her, regret not looking after Luke's only child.

Andrew noticed her.

He looked at her deeply; Chloe gave him a slight smile.

But that smile was worse than crying.

In her palm was a phone. She said, "You have a call!"

She handed him the phone, walking quickly, as if afraid she would regret it.
