Chapter 209 Charlotte, Give Me a Child

Everything was over, and both felt awkward.

Especially Charlotte, she thought it wasn't right for them.

But they did it anyway.

Their sweaty bodies stuck together uncomfortably. She wanted to shower, but Frederick gently held her down. "Stay with me a bit longer!"

Charlotte didn't move.

He kissed behind her ear and said, "Can you stop being so cold to me?"

He reached for his pants at the end of the bed, and a small box fell out.

Charlotte guessed what he was up to and got up. "I'm going to shower!"

Frederick pulled her back. Charlotte fell into his arms.

Frederick took out a diamond ring. "It's 52 carats! Do you like it?"

He stared at her.

Charlotte slipped the ring onto her middle finger. She smiled. "It's too small. It doesn't fit!"

Frederick's eyes darkened. "Maybe it fits your ring finger. Try it!"

Charlotte knew Frederick rarely tried to please women like this. If she were smart, she'd accept it and marry him happily.

But she wasn't the same as before.

Before that Valentine's Day, she would've never refused if he had offered a ring.

He was still charming, but her feelings had changed.

Charlotte was about to refuse but stopped. She remembered something. Tonight was wild, and he didn't use protection.

Charlotte put the ring back in the box.

She was silent for a moment. "I'm not in my safe period!"

Frederick got what she meant, blushed slightly, and coughed awkwardly. "No need for medicine. I didn't finish inside."

Charlotte was still worried.

Though not devout, she believed if she got pregnant, the child was meant to be, and she'd keep it.

Frederick didn't want her to take medicine, so she planned to buy it herself.

He gently held her down and compromised. "I'll buy it for you!"

Charlotte responded politely. "Thank you!"

Frederick laughed in frustration.

As he dressed, he pinched her chin and said, "Sometimes I think you just enjoy it and then deny it. You act one way during and another after!"

He spoke bluntly.

Charlotte didn't want to be outdone.

She threw off the blanket and walked to the bathroom. As the door closed, she said, "I didn't deny it! It was quite enjoyable!"

Those words made Frederick even more hooked.

He put on his shirt and went to buy the medicine.

When he returned, Charlotte had finished her bath and skincare routine and was standing by the window.

Frederick closed the door.

He poured her a glass of warm water, opened the medicine, and handed it to her.

As Charlotte took the medicine, Frederick watched her and said softly, "Charlotte, am I not worth another chance? Am I dead to you?"

Charlotte was stunned.

Then she continued taking the medicine, swallowing it with water, which tasted bitter.

Frederick gently hugged her and whispered, "Charlotte, I want to be a father! I want a little Charlotte, with your blonde hair and fair skin. I'll raise her like a princess and protect her from everything!"

Charlotte's body stiffened.

Frederick's fingers played with the soft spot behind her ear, his tone even softer. "Give me a child, Charlotte. I really want one!"

Just then, Frederick's phone rang. It was Patrick.

Patrick sounded serious. "Frederick, you need to come back to Syeattel immediately. Chloe took three sleeping pills, and your mom is a wreck! Why? Ethan has a mistress, and she made a scene in front of me!"

Frederick felt helpless. 'Just three sleeping pills? That's not enough for a suicide attempt.'

But he knew he had to deal with it. He suspected that besides Ethan, Charlotte also upset his dad, though his dad didn't say it outright.

Frederick lit a cigarette. "I need to go back to Syeattel for a bit."

Charlotte heard it too. She liked Chloe, so she added, "Be there for her."

Frederick paused, looked at her with a half-smile, and after a long time, said, "You care about her that much?"

Charlotte didn't want to engage, so she lay down and closed her eyes.

She seemed particularly soft, probably because she was tired.

Frederick couldn't help but lean in to kiss her, complaining softly, "I overdid it, and your legs are a bit weak!"

Charlotte angrily threw a pillow at him!

Frederick chuckled, his hand reaching under the blanket to tease her, "Stop pretending! You clearly enjoyed it too, but you act like you don't care. If I went to someone else, where else could you find a top-notch handsome guy like me!"

He hadn't teased her like this in a long time, and it felt like old times.

Charlotte felt a bit dazed.

Frederick seemed to notice too, and he restrained his expression, giving her a kiss on the lips. "I'm leaving! Don't see Oliver!"

Frederick took a private jet back to Syeattel.

As soon as he entered the house, the Hawkins family was in a gloomy mood.

The beautiful and kind Laura saw him and quickly came up to whisper, "Go talk to Chloe. She hasn't eaten all day and took three sleeping pills!"

Frederick comforted Laura, "It's okay. I'll go see her!"

Laura nodded with tears in her eyes.

As Frederick went upstairs, she called out to him again, looking like she wanted to say something but hesitated. "Frederick."

Frederick had a hunch.

He smiled slightly. "Mom, I'll explain to Dad later!" With that, he headed to the second floor.

He opened the door, and Chloe was lying on the bed with the blanket over her head.

Frederick sat on the edge of the bed and tugged at the blanket but couldn't pull it off.

He teased Chloe, "Three sleeping pills didn't kill you. Don't suffocate yourself. If this joke makes the news, our Hawkins family can't afford the embarrassment!"

Chloe immediately popped out from under the blanket and hugged Frederick tightly.

Frederick knew she was feeling down, so he patted her head gently and said softly, "Were you trying to commit suicide or just being dramatic?"

Chloe, in his arms, mumbled, "Frederick, you're bad!"

"What did I do?"

"Charlotte and Ethan dated, and you didn't tell me, yet you still date and plan to marry her!"

Frederick chuckled.

He leaned back against the headboard, patting Chloe's head like a puppy, and said, "They did date, but it doesn't count. Charlotte's first man was me!"

Chloe wasn't convinced. "But they dated even though they didn't have sex."

"Having a meal together counts as dating? Then should we call all the maids who eat with Dad our moms?" Frederick raised his eyebrows, obviously finding his logic flawless.

Chloe fell silent.
