Chapter 510 I'm Begging You, Give Me One More Chance

Lola shoved him away.

In the bedroom that smelled like him, she slowly walked over to the big window. Opening it, she saw the courtyard she grew up in. Everything looked so familiar.

Lola said softly, "Johnny, you come and go whenever you want. How's that fair? Sure, I believe you really want to come back and that you have feelings for me, but so what? To me, your pursuit is just a hassle. Honestly, you're messing up my life."

Johnny walked over to her.

She muttered, "Before you came back, I was doing just fine! A woman doesn't need marriage to be happy!"

Of course, he knew that.

She didn't need to get married. With her looks and charm, she could have any life she wanted. She could have as many young, handsome guys as she wanted. But even if it was selfish, Johnny still didn't want to let her go.

He gently wrapped his arms around her, his face pressed against her thin shoulder.

Lola sighed softly. "I want to rest now! Johnny, don't make a scene."

As soon as she said that, Johnny suddenly scooped her up. Lola was stunned for a moment and then started hitting his shoulder hard. "Let me go! What are you doing?"

Johnny opened the door with one hand.

As he walked down the hallway, a chill hit them, prompting Lola to snuggle closer to him.

Johnny lowered his head, his nose lightly brushing against her. The skin-to-skin contact was intoxicating.

Lola glared at him. Johnny couldn't help but kiss her on the lips, and then both of them froze.

Even though they had already been intimate, doing all the things a man and woman could do, this simple kiss brought back a flood of memories.

On Lola's 18th birthday, they spent the day together. That summer, in a tent in the wilderness, after blowing out the candles on a small cake, Johnny kissed her. They weren't a couple at the time. But the feelings back then were unmatched. Lola thought that after graduating from college, she would marry Johnny. She never imagined that Johnny would leave her. A simple kiss brought back memories of their youth.

Lola's eyes got a bit misty. Until he carried her to her childhood bedroom, her body slowly stiffened. "Johnny, what do you mean?"

She didn't want to be here!

Johnny pressed her against the door, holding her firmly. They silently struggled. Lola's back was covered in a thin layer of sweat, and she leaned weakly against the door.

Johnny leaned on her shoulder, panting. After a long time, he said softly, "How about changing into pajamas and going to sleep?"

Lola glared at him angrily, her eyes full of disdain.

Johnny carried her to the bed. Lola tried to escape, but he pinned her down with one leg and then took off her tight dress, replacing it with a simple white nightgown. He only took off his jacket.

They lay on the bed, a small princess bed that was already crowded with two adults. But Johnny didn't care.

He was eager to recapture the past feelings, to awaken Lola's memories.

He held her in his arms and let her long hair down, gently smoothing it.

The difference in strength between men and women was clear. Lola couldn't resist, and she didn't want their relationship to become known to the whole family. She deliberately provoked him. "What are you doing?"

Johnny held the back of her head with one hand, looking down at her.

"Do you want it? If you do, I can make it happen," he said softly.

"Bastard!" Lola spat.

She turned her head to the side and kicked his leg. "Johnny, what is this? We're nothing, sleeping in the same bed. It's not good if someone sees us!"

"We can get married."

Lola was fuming. She was exhausted from the day and didn't have the energy to argue, so she just closed her eyes to sleep.

If he wanted to sleep with her, she would let him.

Her head rested on his strong arm, and the soft pink light on her face revealed a hint of her childhood.

"Lola," Johnny said softly, leaning in to kiss her. Lola opened her eyes, and before she could speak, he held her hand, interlocking their fingers. The kiss was tender yet wild.

Lola looked up at the man above her, feeling like it was a lifetime ago. She was kissing Johnny in the same place where they had shared a bed as kids.

Her lips parted slightly, not as assertive as usual, and Johnny couldn't help but kiss her again and again.

The narrow bed couldn't handle his movements.

He didn't plan to go all the way with her in such a place, just to touch her and make her feel comfortable.

As the night grew deeper, Lola pushed him away and lay quietly with her back to him.

Johnny didn't say anything either. He helped her adjust her nightgown and then hugged her from behind. His body was burning hot, and she could naturally feel it.

Much later, Lola was half-asleep.

Johnny pressed against her neck and said, "Lola, I'm really sorry, and I regret it deeply."

But the hurt he caused Lola and her disappointment were beyond any apology. As she said, eight years had passed, and even the deepest feelings had faded. Besides hating him, she probably also had a faint sense of regret. She should have had the purest feelings, but he had shattered her dreams.

"I want to start over with you. Lola, I'm begging you, give me a chance," said he.

After he finished speaking, he almost held his breath, waiting for her answer.

About two minutes later, Lola finally spoke, "But I don't want to! Johnny, I did like you a lot once, but not anymore. I won't forgive you just because we had sex! I don't want to force it."

Johnny's face turned pale. She actually said that being with him was a form of reluctance!

Lola couldn't stay here any longer. She got up, and when Johnny tried to hold her, she pushed him away forcefully. She said in a low, suppressed voice, "Johnny, can we at least keep the last bit of dignity for each other?"

After saying that, she left.

Even though she didn't want to disturb anyone, she couldn't help but close the door loudly.

Under the light, Johnny's face looked even paler.

Lola walked out barefoot, feeling the coldness of the hallway, but something was colder than her feet. She touched her face and realized it was tears.

She raised her head slightly. Why was she crying? Johnny wasn't worth it.

The study on the second floor was lit. Frederick stood at the door, quietly watching her.

Lola walked over and gently hugged him. "Dad."

Frederick patted her. "Why are you barefoot? Come into the study; I have the heater on."

Lola felt a bit embarrassed. She hadn't cried in a long time. But Frederick didn't mind. Lola was his first daughter, different from Kingsley and Sienna. He had personally raised her for several years, and their bond was special.

Even though she had grown up and made a name for herself in the legal world, she was still his Lola.

Frederick made Lola a cup of room temperature milk and brought her a wool blanket. Lola leaned on his shoulder, drinking the milk, just like when she was a kid.

Frederick asked, "Did Johnny bully you? I'll go beat him up."

Lola still had tears in her eyes, but she laughed. "If anyone's going to beat him up, it should be me!"

Frederick stroked her hair in agreement. "Johnny wouldn't dare fight back."

Lola held the milk, lost in thought.

Frederick sighed softly. "You still like him."

Lola didn't say anything; she just leaned on Frederick, allowing herself to be vulnerable for once.

After a while, Frederick pinched her cheek, trying to come up with a solution. "I'll find him a wife and then kick them out of the house, so you won't be bothered."

Even though she knew he was joking, Lola still laughed.

She nodded and leaned on Frederick a bit more playfully.

Frederick patted her. "Finish your milk and go sleep with your mom. She was worried when she heard the noise earlier."

Lola agreed.

After a moment, Frederick coughed lightly. "Also, you two can fool around all you want, but don't end up having a child if you don't plan to be together. What would that be?"

Lola was thicker-skinned than Frederick. She snapped back, "Didn't you say we're not good enough? If we have a child, you can have a grandchild."

Frederick felt helpless with her.

Lola put down the milk cup, waved her hand, and went to sleep in Frederick's bed wearing his slippers. As for Frederick, he had to go barefoot!

The next day, Lola got up quite early, mainly to avoid running into Johnny.

Unexpectedly, when she went downstairs, he was already in the dining room.

Early in the morning, dressed to the nines, who was he trying to impress?

Lola had no reason to be afraid of him. She sat across from him, quietly instructing the maid to bring breakfast. When the maid went to get the breakfast, Johnny said softly, "You didn't like eating bread before."

"I like bread now," Lola immediately retorted.

Johnny held back, not arguing with her. After a while, he started to look her over again.

Lola took a sip of coffee and looked at him. "Haven't you seen enough?"

Johnny smiled faintly. Not only was he not angry, but he also said gently, "When will you stop being so stubborn? Sometimes you're quite sweet."

Flirting early in the morning, Lola couldn't be bothered with him.

Johnny seemed to have forgotten last night's humiliation and asked calmly, "What about the matter we discussed last time?"

"The lawyer team?" Lola thought for a moment and said, "Send someone to my office, and I'll arrange it."

Johnny nodded.

After that, they didn't talk much. Later, Kingsley also came downstairs. Seeing the three equally outstanding children sitting in the dining room, Frederick felt a headache. He asked, "Which one of you can give me a grandchild first? Your mom is going crazy wanting one!"

Kingsley replied reservedly, "Without a wife, should I have one myself?"

Frederick then looked at the other two. "You're almost 30. Aren't you in a hurry? Do you really want to stay single forever?"

Lola didn't want to hear this, especially in front of Johnny.

Frederick was being intentional, how mean.

She got up, holding Frederick's forehead. "Dad, didn't you not want to get married back then? I'm just following your example!"

Frederick scolded, "Brat!"

Lola gave him a big kiss, then grabbed her coat and walked out.

Frederick watched for a long time, then turned his gaze to Johnny. "You should hurry up and find someone to marry. If you could settle before, you can settle now."

Frederick went upstairs to comfort Charlotte.

Kingsley slowly folded the newspaper, smiling insincerely. "Johnny, my dad has actually been annoyed with you for a long time!"

Johnny wiped his lips and said just as elegantly, "Maybe everyone will have to bear with it a bit longer!"

After saying that, he also left.

Kingsley sipped his coffee, drinking half a cup, and smiled.

At eleven in the morning, Lola came out of the courthouse. She had just won a case. The client called, expressing great gratitude, and then tried to lower the lawyer's fee. Lola threw her briefcase into the car. She got into the car, holding her phone and laughing softly. "Mr. Nelson's case, I won't charge a penny."

Samuel was flattered, thinking Lola was doing charity, considering their deep connection.

"Just kidding!" Lola hung up the phone and sent a Facebook message to Samuel, which was a photo of Samuel cheating.

The other party was a somewhat famous internet celebrity. Her looks and temperament were much worse than his wife's. But some men just love trash, bringing anyone home.

Then, Lola tossed her phone aside. She drove back to the office. As soon as she arrived, her assistant came up, whispering, "Mr. Flores is here. He wants to see you."

Lola glanced at her. "Invite him to the reception room."

The assistant hesitated. "Mr. Flores is family, so I let him wait in your office."

"Just this once!" Lola said, then grabbed her briefcase and walked into the office.

She saw Johnny looking around her office, holding a photo frame—a group photo of Frederick, his wife, and their four children. Lola was about ten years old that year, and the youngest sister, Sienna, was still in their father's arms. She and Johnny were leaning their heads together.

She dropped her briefcase, crossing her arms and looking at him.

Johnny heard the footsteps and looked up. After a moment, he said softly, "You still kept it."

Lola walked behind her desk, sat in the leather chair, and gently spun it. "Johnny, I don't like people interfering too much in my life, whether it's Darren, you, or anyone else. It's all the same."

"I know!" Johnny said almost self-deprecatingly, "I'm not special in any way!"

"Good that you know!" Lola looked at him. "So, you had to come personally to set up a legal team? Not confident?"

Johnny asked her directly, "Why won't you take this case? Because of me?"

"I don't mix business with personal matters!" Lola looked at him. "I'm simply too busy!"

Johnny walked over, placing his hands on either side of her desk, lowering his voice slightly. "Just putting your name on it, you won't do that?"

"That comes at an additional cost, so you'll need to adjust your budget upwards."

Johnny had no problem with that. Just as he was about to speak, Lola's phone rang.
