Chapter 505 Lola, What Do You Take Me For?
Lola wrapped up her socializing, and it was already pushing midnight.
The night breeze was chilly, and her assistant draped a coat over her shoulders, whispering, "Ms. Hawkins, Mr. Hawkins will be worried if he knows you were out drinking."
Lola adjusted her coat, whispering, "He's not in good health; how could I just stand by and watch him go out to socialize and drink?"
Her car was parked right outside the club, but she decided to clear her head with the cold breeze. She leaned against the wall, lit a slim cigarette, and watched it burn between her fingers.
Their family was loaded, but with money came responsibility. The Hawkins Group and Vertex Innovations Group together employed over ten thousand people. Kingsley was young, and it was already tough enough for him to manage the Hawkins Group. Vertex Innovations Group was usually overseen by her dad, but age and health were catching up with him.
She was the eldest daughter in the family. Could she just ignore it? Besides, managing Vertex Innovations Group was her duty.
As for Sienna, both she and Kingsley were willing to spoil her. Every family needed someone who could live happily.
Lola looked down at the cigarette butt.
Her slightly curled golden hair covered half of her face.
Her assistant stayed by her side.
When the cigarette burned out, Lola straightened up, "Let's go! Take me to the apartment. Frederick will scold me again if he sees I've been drinking!" She suddenly smiled faintly, "I'd rather he think I was out having fun!"
The assistant hesitated for a moment and said softly, "You could find someone suitable to help share the burden. With a prenuptial agreement, it wouldn't be too much trouble."
Lola smiled, "Marriage itself is trouble."
In a few words, they had reached the car. Jared opened the car door for Lola. She waved to her assistant and then collapsed into the seat.
Jared, a longtime family employee, couldn't help but speak up.
Lola, with her eyes closed, pouted, "I didn't get drunk on purpose. Don't tell Frederick!"
Jared couldn't do anything about her.
The car slowly drove away, but from the shadows, a figure emerged. It was Johnny.
He watched the black car disappear into the distance, standing quietly for a long time. He wondered if Lola felt wronged, cried, or hated him every time she drank.
While he was abroad enjoying his freedom, Lola bore so much but never told him.
She always pretended not to care.
What was she like when she was alone?
Lola returned to the apartment.
The apartment was quite large but had been unoccupied for days, making it feel empty and cold.
She turned on the floor heating and lay on the sofa to recover.
The floor heating warmed up, but her body still felt cold, so she pulled a blanket over herself and curled up for a light sleep.
She thought she should find a boyfriend; even if he couldn't share her work, he could at least hand her a glass of water and warm her bed.
Lola held her forehead, wondering who she should choose as her boyfriend.
The doorbell rang!
She thought it was Darren. Only Darren would come over at this hour, willing to cook for her, warm her bed with his body, and then obediently leave.
Lola smiled, took out a slim cigarette, and held it between her lips. She lit it and walked to the door.
But it was Johnny outside. Seeing her smoking, his face darkened, and he reached out to take it away, "I remember you didn't have these habits when you were young! Smoking, drinking, playing with men, Lola, what else don't I know about you?"
Lola, having had a bit too much to drink, was slow to react.
She watched him toss the cigarette away, feeling a bit regretful. Then she walked back and collapsed on the sofa, "I thought it was Darren!"
Johnny, wearing a coat, looked down at her.
Lola was in a white blouse with a tied collar and a navy blue knitted fishtail skirt. Lying on the sofa, she revealed a pair of slender legs.
Johnny rarely saw legs as beautiful as hers.
But he couldn't appreciate them now. Instead, he couldn't help but mock, "Do you like him satisfying you that much?"
He squatted down, brushing her hair aside to see her expression.
Lola had a headache. She really didn't want to deal with Johnny. She turned over and lightly patted his handsome face, "He does it well! Do you want me to tell you in detail?"
Johnny gritted his teeth, "Aren't you shameless!"
Lola just laughed. Her slender fingers gently stroked his handsome face, her voice lowering, "You've brought back several girlfriends. Why haven't I seen you marry any of them? If you had to marry each one, how many times would you have to divorce?"
Johnny couldn't out-argue her, so he leaned in and kissed her.
Lola, with a headache and feeling light-headed, didn't bother to resist.
While kissing, Johnny's hand roamed over her body. She looked up at him, tracing his lips with a finger.
Johnny tore off her stockings.
His long fingers were incredibly nimble, making her feel good.
Lola suddenly hugged his head, gently biting his shoulder, unwilling to make a sound.
Johnny found her lips, sucking and kissing, making her body go soft. He whispered, "Do I satisfy you more than he does??"
Lola clung to his neck, kissing him. "You each have your own merits!"
Her words were truly infuriating.
Johnny pulled back just in time, leaving her there. Lola, feeling uncomfortable, parted her red lips slightly, her voice raspy, "What's wrong?"
Johnny held her chin, asking softly, "Lola, what do you take me for?"
She didn't even resist him teasing her. He didn't think her feelings for him had rekindled. The only possibility was that she didn't care, willing to play along!
He was no different from Darren. No, there was a difference! She liked Darren in her heart. To her, he was just a bad guy.
Johnny stood up, taking off his coat.
He looked at Lola again, feeling satisfied with her expression. "I'll cook for you! What do you want to eat?"
Lola sobered up a bit, her hand covering her eyes to block the light. It was too dazzling!
After a while, she muttered, "Whatever!"
Johnny went to the kitchen. There were plenty of things inside, but most had gone bad.
He started cooking. Like Gavin, he was good at it. In less than half an hour, he had prepared a simple meal.
Lola took a shower and came out in a bathrobe.
She silently sat at the dining table.
Johnny served her some food and sat beside her, "Eat!"
Lola quietly watched. After a while, she looked up at Johnny and said softly, "Johnny, we could have been an ordinary couple, cooking a meal like this and having a drink together! But why didn't we, and instead, we interact like this?"
Suddenly, she flipped the food onto the floor.
She pointed to the door, "Get out! Do I, Lola, lack men to cook for me and sleep with me? Johnny, as long as I want, there are plenty of men willing to cook for me. You don't even have the right to curry favor with me!"
