Chapter 385 You've Crossed My Line

So, in the afternoon, Frederick hit up the office.

It was freezing, so Charlotte stayed in but gave Elizabeth a ring.

Elizabeth drove over, and as soon as she stepped out of the car, the villa's servant grinned and said, "Charlotte's chillin' in the study on the second floor."

Elizabeth nodded and followed the servant upstairs.

Coming back to this swanky villa, her mood was totally different.

The servant knocked on the door. "Charlotte, Elizabeth's here."

Charlotte's voice was soft, "Let her in."

The servant opened the door.

Elizabeth glanced over and saw a set of green leather sofas by the floor-to-ceiling window. Just looking at them, she could tell they cost a fortune.

Charlotte was rocking a long dress, her golden hair flowing down to her waist.

She looked all lazy and charming.

That kind of mature charm? Yeah, definitely needed a man's touch. Elizabeth thought of Frederick.

But now, she didn't dare to have any funny ideas.

While she was checking out Charlotte, Charlotte looked up and gave a faint smile. "You're here. Take a seat!"

Elizabeth plopped down opposite Charlotte, feeling a bit uneasy.

Charlotte turned her head and told the servant, "Get Miss Grayson a cup of coffee."

Elizabeth sipped the coffee, still feeling on edge.

She had a favor to ask Charlotte.

She'd just come from Tina's place, and Tina was giving her a hard time, making things tough everywhere.

After half a cup of coffee, she couldn't hold back. "Tina's really good at sucking up! She actually managed to get in with a few big shots and is making trouble for me everywhere. Last time, she totally put me on the spot at a dinner party."

Honestly, if she just went along with it, it might not be a big deal.

But Elizabeth had signed with Charlotte, and she didn't want to do that kind of stuff anymore. She wanted to keep things clean.

Charlotte listened and quietly looked outside.

Through the glass, it was snowing lightly again.

Charlotte extended her slender finger and lightly traced it on the glass. "There's a lot of snow this year."

Elizabeth didn't quite get why Charlotte brought this up.

Charlotte's gaze was super calm, giving no hint of what she was thinking. Her voice got even gentler. "Even though you're with me now, it doesn't mean you can't please her!"

Elizabeth was still confused.

Charlotte pulled out two tickets from the pages of a book and smiled. "Next week, there's a F1 race! I heard the drivers are young and handsome, Tina should like it."

Elizabeth started to get the picture.

But Charlotte wasn't about to spill all the tea. She just asked softly, "You down to help me out?"

Elizabeth thought it over for a few seconds and then nodded firmly.

Charlotte called her over and whispered a few things in her ear.

Elizabeth was pretty shocked.

Charlotte looked so gentle, it was wild to think she'd have such plans. She figured someone like Tina would get what was coming to her eventually.

Elizabeth hung around for a bit longer.

Then, the sound of a car came from the yard, followed by the cheerful voices of kids.

In no time, Lola and Johnny were running upstairs.

Lola dashed to the nursery and woke up the sleeping Kingsley. "Kingsley, time to get up!"

Kingsley started bawling.

Lola kissed his cheek and couldn't resist picking him up.

Johnny frowned, checked Kingsley's diaper, and said, "He wet himself."

Lola jumped up and down. "Kingsley, you wet your diaper again."

She looked at Johnny.

Johnny quickly turned Kingsley over, took off his little pants, and changed him into a fresh diaper, wiping his little butt with a wet wipe in between. As he did this, he said softly, "Kingsley isn't a doll; you gotta be gentler."

Johnny showed her how to change a diaper. "Got it?"

Lola propped her fair face on her hands, smiling. "Johnny, isn't that what you're here for?"

Johnny glanced back at her.

Then he quickly looked away!

After changing Kingsley's diaper, Lola and Johnny carried him to Charlotte.

Lola said softly, "Mom, Kingsley's hungry."

Charlotte knew her little tricks all too well.

She treated Kingsley like a doll, but Charlotte didn't call her out. She personally made some milk and fed it to Kingsley.

Johnny sat nearby reading a book.

Lola also wanted to feed him, but Johnny gently pulled her over to read the book with him.

The scene was so sweet it made Elizabeth a bit emotional.

As she walked out of the villa, she even thought it was a pity for Charlotte, being so young and tied down by several kids. But then she thought, she had money, time, and a loving husband; this was Charlotte's choice.

A few days later, Elizabeth ran into Tina at a party.

With just a few words, Tina had people getting Elizabeth half-drunk.

Elizabeth's agent looked at the fat guy next to Tina, angry but not daring to speak, and helped her to the bathroom.

The drunk Elizabeth puked her guts out.

Tina's reflection appeared in the mirror as she leisurely applied lipstick, a slight smile playing on her lips. "Not feeling too hot after stabbing me in the back, huh? Elizabeth, I genuinely wanted to help you, but you ran off to Charlotte!"

Elizabeth turned on the faucet and splashed her face with water, trying to sober up.

Once she was a bit more clear-headed, she croaked, "What you asked me to do was despicable. Frederick is not a man I can control!"

Tina chuckled.

She leaned against the wall and pulled out a long cigarette.

She thought of Frederick.

He indeed didn't easily get involved with women; it was like he was born for Charlotte.

Tina had never seen a man like that.

She exhaled a smoke ring gently with her red lips. "Elizabeth, as long as I'm around, you're not gonna have a good time."

Elizabeth's eyes reddened.

Tina smiled. "You picked the wrong side! Charlotte's got a strong background, but she's not ambitious and won't put much effort into grooming you. Think about it, what future do you have with her?"

Elizabeth seemed to ponder.

Tina patted her shoulder lightly. "Think it over!"

She turned and left.

After walking about a dozen steps, Elizabeth hesitated and called out, "Miss Anderson."

Tina felt quite pleased.

Elizabeth slowly dried her face and stared at Tina. "I betrayed you once. If I want to come back, I need to achieve something for you and return with glory, so others will be convinced."

Tina was somewhat surprised.

"I know you want to invest in a movie but lack the startup funds!"

Tina became interested. "You mean you can bring in investment for me?"

Elizabeth shook her head.

Seeing Tina's disappointment, she quickly said, "I have a way to make money!"

She then took out an F1 VIP grandstand ticket from her handbag and lowered her voice. "These races are rigged. The bosses behind the scenes decide who wins. If you have the connections, you can make a lot of money."

Tina was half-skeptical. "You know them?"

Elizabeth smiled.

She touched up her makeup in the mirror, looking stunning.

Tina suddenly realized that Elizabeth, being a popular star and good-looking, would naturally have wealthy men willing to please her.

On the day of the F1 race, Charlotte and Frederick also attended, sitting in the best seats.

In the next separate box, Elizabeth stood next to Tina, who was holding binoculars and looking into the distance. She asked in a low voice, "I placed a small bet on number 5 this time. There won't be any accident, right? Is your info solid?"

Number 5 was Brian.

Through the binoculars, he was decked out in a racing suit and helmet, but you could still tell he was a looker.

Tina commented, "Quite young."

Elizabeth reminded her, "He's the only son of the Nelson family, but he's married now!"

Tina felt a bit regretful but then thought, 'What does it matter? Which man doesn't have a mistress on the side!'

Seeing her thoughts, Elizabeth whispered, "He doesn't mess around with women! But there are a few in his team who might catch your eye. I heard number 8 is particularly good with the ladies. Want me to introduce you?"

Tina had been with many men and was at an age with high needs.

She wasn't too picky.

She smiled, which was a sign of agreement.

The race officially started, and it was pretty intense. Just like Elizabeth said, number 5 took first place.

His teammate, number 8, came in second.

Tina looked at his tall, well-built figure and said softly, "I won a lot from this race! Elizabeth, you've really impressed me."

Besides money, there were also young, strong men.

This was too tempting for Tina!

Elizabeth, draped in a white coat and wearing sunglasses, played with her delicate nails and said indifferently, "This was a small pot; nothing much!"

Tina looked at her with more appreciation.

After the race, there was a cocktail party.

Besides the drivers, there were club owners and Syeattel's elite.

Charlotte and Frederick were naturally invited as the honored guests.

Tina ran into her.

"Charlotte!" Tina held a wine glass and smiled. "Didn't expect to see you here! Are you into car racing too?"

Charlotte's face was calm.

She smiled faintly. "Just out for a break! What brings you here? I heard you were summoned recently in connection with a murder case. Didn't expect you to be involved in a lawsuit and still have the interest to watch a race."

Tina's face changed slightly.

But she pretended to be calm. "The innocent will be proven innocent!"

Charlotte was about to say something when someone approached. "Miss Anderson."

The person seemed a bit uneasy.

It was Elizabeth!

Charlotte looked at Elizabeth and frowned slightly. "You still have dealings with her?"

Elizabeth didn't dare to speak.

Charlotte's face turned cold. "Elizabeth, you signed with my company but still have dealings with Miss Anderson. You've crossed my line!"
